Conspiracy theorist and MSNBC host Rachel Maddow has been called out by Washington Post columnist Erik Wemple for breathlessly peddling the Steele Dossier – becoming a “clearinghouse” for the largely debunked opposition research funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC in 2016 (and fed to the MSM six weeks before the 2016 US election by the former British spy who wrote it).

Wemple has been writing about the media’s coverage of the Steele dossier since it was significantly undercut earlier this month by Michael Horowitz, the DOJ Inspector General. Thursday’s feature details how Maddow spewed Russophobic propaganda to the American public based on Steele’s fabricated claims.

Horowitz absolutely shredded the dossier, writing in his report on FBI FISA abuse that “The FBI concluded, among other things, that although consistent with known efforts by Russia to interfere in the 2016 U.S. elections, much of the material in the Steele election reports, including allegations about Donald Trump and members of the Trump campaign relied upon in the Carter Page FISA applications, could not be corroborated; that certain allegations were inaccurate or inconsistent with information gathered by the Crossfire Hurricane team; and that the limited information that was corroborated related to time, location and title information, much of which was publicly available.”

Maddow began using the dossier to smear Trump in March of 2017 – when both CNN and the New Yorker falsely claimed that US authorities had loosely confirmed ‘some of the details’ from the dossier. An emboldened Maddow claimed that while the “baseline” dossier claim that Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election had yet to be proven, “all the supporting details are checking out, even the really outrageous ones. A lot of them are starting to bear out under scrutiny. It seems like a new one each passing day.”

Based on the conclusions reached by both the FBI and DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Maddow was peddling conspiracy theories.

Nope ...the FBI and DOJ, after years of investigating, tens of million$ in resources, haven't been able to gather the information that Maddow and Temple have accumulated on Trump ...they know better ... In April, Maddow ignored that the Mueller report debunked the dossier’s key allegation a literal conspiracy theory – namely that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 US election. Instead, the MSNBC host grasped at straws – trying to suggest various claims in the dossier were corroborated.

---Several days after the Mueller report emerged, Maddow addressed not the dissonance between Mueller and the dossier, but a point of possible corroboration. In perhaps its most famous allegation, the dossier claimed that Trump had rented a suite at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow and “employed” prostitutes to perform a perverted ritual for him. It suggested that there were tapes of the show, the better to amass kompromat against Trump.

A footnote in the Mueller report, noted Maddow, bore a possible connection to this part of the dossier. It turned out that Russian businessman Giorgi Rtskhiladze had sent a text message to Cohen on Oct. 30, 2016, saying, “Stopped flow of tapes from Russia but not sure if there’s anything else. Just so you know…” Those tapes were “compromising,” Rtskhiladze told the special counsel. However, he also said “he was told the tapes were fake, but he did not communicate that to Cohen.”

Seizing on the revelations, Maddow commented: “[According] to Mueller, Cohen then told Trump about that before the election. So that means Trump knew that somewhere in the former Soviet Union, a business buddy of his had taken action to make sure tapes, supposedly from Trump’s trip to Russia, those tapes weren’t getting out. Don’t worry, all taken care of. I took care of that for you, right?” she said. –Washington Post

Maddow pumped the brakes on the dossier following the Mueller report. When Horowitz published his report’s comprehensive dressdown of the dossier, there was no mea culpa from Maddow – instead, she said “The inspector general debunks that there was any anti-Trump political bias motivating these decisions. They debunked the idea that the Christopher Steele dossier of opposition research against Trump was the basis for opening the FBI’s Russia investigation. It absolutely was not, and ‘Oh, by the way, no, there was no spying on the Trump campaign.”

And while Wemple says these are legitimate points, Maddow’s track record on the dossier is abysmal.

The case for Maddow is that her dossier coverage stemmed from public documents, congressional proceedings and published reports from outlets with solid investigative histories. She included warnings about the unverified assertions and didn’t use the dossier as a source for wild claims. There is something fishy, furthermore, about that Mueller footnote regarding the “tapes.” In their recent book on the dossier, “Crime in Progress,” the Fusion GPS co-founders wrote that Steele believes the document is 70-percent accurate.

FOX News Primetime Shows are So Offensive that Fox is Actually Afraid to Sell Them to Advertisers

There's been a pretty steady stream of bad news lately for Fox News. Most prominent is the success of MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, along with many of her colleagues. She has beaten her Fox competition, Sean Hannity, nearly every night since early November, after the midterm election.
Fox is also hurting from the exodus of advertisers due to the racist commentaries of their featured hosts. And they can't be happy about Donald Trump coming to their aid, with all the baggage he brings along.

On top of that, Fox is embarrassing itself with ludicrous lies, flagrant Trump sycophancy, and hosts who brag that they have nauseating personal hygiene practices.
And in the midst of these self-made messes, Fox has to pitch their network to advertisers in the upcoming "upfront" sales season when networks make their cases to the advertising community for the new year. According to Variety:

Variety quotes a Fox advertising executive as saying that they want to press "against the notion that the network is only for conservatives.
" It's way too late for them to sell that nonsense.
Fox doesn't even use the "fair and balanced" slogan anymore.
They ditched it for "Real News," an obvious suck-up to Trump.

Everyone knows that Fox News is now just a surrogate for the White House.
They have become the closest thing to State TV that America has ever known.
And now the ad sales people think that advertisers can be fooled into believing that Fox is "transcending its own genre and becoming popular culture, thanks in part to the Trump presidency."

Of course, anyone who has been paying attention already knows that Fox hasn't been a legitimate news network in years, if ever.
They have few, if any, reputable journalists.
They have never won a journalism award from the Pulitzers, the Emmys, or any other industry association.
Their program hosts are more like cheerleaders for Trump, who actually appear on stage with him at his rallies.

The problem for Fox is that advertisers are not the sort of ignoramuses who watch Fox.
They deal with multimillion dollar budgets and they know what they're buying.
By pretending that Fox isn't the equivalent of Trump TV, their ad sales people will only be insulting the intelligence of the media buyers.
And if Fox thinks that's going to pump up sales, they're as stupid as their audience - and their President.

Anchor-turned-media exec Soledad O’Brien blasted CNN and its chief media correspondent, Brian Stelter, for the network's practice of booking guests who "intentionally" lie on air.

The spat began when Stelter shared a piece about the significance of disinformation that has plagued social media.

"We have this alternative media ecosystem that is driving a lot of disinformation. It is not understood by journalists or anyone really beyond a very small group of people who are really engaged with it," Stelter tweeted, quoting Bellingcat executive director Eliot Higgins.

O'Brien, a former CNN anchor, took exception to Stelter's tweet.

"Also mainstream media outlets frequently book guests who lie, intentionally, on their air. CNN is one such outlet," O'Brien told Stelter. "Instead of shunning those guests they are booked again and again and again."

She then took direct aim at the media guru.

"When CNN’s media reporter pretends his own news org isn’t part of this BS, it’s a problem," O'Brien said.

This isn't the first time O'Brien went after Stelter. Last month, she ripped the CNN icon for his response when asked how networks can get Americans interested in the impeachment hearings.

“I also think, episode one so to speak, matters a lot, and I hate to say that because we’re talking about basic democracy at risk here. But from a television perspective, Democrats have to come out strong in that first episode,” Stelter said during a CNN segment. “For the same reason when we’re watching Netflix or listening to a new podcast, we only choose to keep listening if we’re interested in episode one.”

“Why is CNN so stupid about important s--t? This is Cillizza-level inanity. Brian should be ashamed of himself,” O’Brien reacted, referring the often-mocked CNN political analyst Chris Cillizza in the process.

Major Anti-Trump Story EXPOSED As Completely Fake, "Trump Regret" Voter LIED But Media Ran It Anyway. It was a 3 Million dollar ad buy that made Mark Graham famous.

Mark was just a regular Trump voter who now had come to regret his decision. According to the new York Times he had been politically converted due to the impeachment proceedings.

The story ran for months and eventually a progressive leftist group filmed him for a commercial to run in rust belt states. 3 Million dollars, a massive campaign.

But local media did the work the New York Times refused to do. They checked his voting record. It turns out Mark did not vote at all.

He even at one point said "I just made it up" when asked by a local journalist.

The story fit the confirmation bias of so many that they refused to let it go and seemingly refused or failed to do a basic five minute search to determine if he was being honest.

This man was likely not convinced by impeachment or any other scandal. In fact he even said that the commercial allowed him to show off. Thats what drove it.

Democrats need to get their act together if they plan to defeat Trump. So long as they run fake news like this and push fake anti trump narratives, they will lose.

Conservatives an republicans have been pushing Trump's message about his victories and the economy, meanwhile Democrats just keep yelling orange man bad, and it keeps backfiring.
