Conservative judge refuses to roll over for Trump and pens ‘jaw-dropping opinion’ blasting William Barr.

Outraged the attorney general had ignored a court order, he authors a blistering opinion rebuking William Barr for overstepping his constitutional authority.
President Donald Trump has defanged Congress’ oversight authority. That became clear when the Senate acquitted the president of obstruction. But one conservative judge isn’t willing to let the executive branch steal power from his branch of government.
As Washington reels from the surprise withdrawals of Roger Stone‘s prosecutors, apparently triggered by Trump’sintervention in the upcoming sentencing of his long-time adviser, the Easterbrook broadside offers another window into the way the Trump administration is violating the division of power between the executive and judicial branches.
''We have never before encountered defiance of a remand order, and we hope never to see it again,” Easterbrook wrote. -“Members of the Board must count themselves lucky that Baez-Sanchez has not asked us to hold them in contempt, with all the consequences that possibility entails.”
Given Trump’s record of defiance, Barr’s maneuver is predictable but it is a shocking break with more than 200 years of constitutional and legal precedent.
But imprisonment raises the question of who would go behind bars for defying a court order on behalf of the president.
In normal times, an order declaring that the president’s staff is guilty of contempt could as a third option trigger enough shame to prompt compliance. But with Trump in the White House, we are not in normal times.
Hence, those who say --“it could never happen in America” need only consider Easterbrook’s holding, which is so elementary that the very fact that he put it in writing underscores how dangerous Barr’s defiance is: - “The Attorney General, the Secretary, and the Board ... are not free to disregard our mandate in the very case making the decision.”

A guy stabbed a friend of mine to death and was out in less than 7 years ..Stone is an old man..he's not violent or a threat to society ..His charges were generated by the Mueller probe, which was bullshit anyway .. Nobody gives a shit when they spring murderers and rapists loose to do it again ..Stone is affiliated with Trump so the left wingnuts are outraged cuz they want him to die in prison, for whatever the fuck he did .. they don't even know ...or care .. Stone is like their only "reward" for the Mueller fiasco ... Besides Manaford, it's all they get for the 3 years of their Russia collusion dream .. It's not enough his life is ruined, legal fees prolly left him broke ..he'll still do several years in a federal prison .. A federal Jury Convicted Roger Stone On Seven Felony Counts. of witness tampering, obstructing an official proceeding, and five counts of making false statements.
Mr. Stone deserved a stiff sentence because he threatened a witness with bodily harm, deceived congressional investigators and carried out an extensive, deliberate, illegal scheme that included repeatedly lying under oath and forging documents.
Even after he was charged in a felony indictment, the prosecutors said, Mr. Stone continued to try to manipulate the administration of justice by threatening Judge Jackson in a social media post and violating her gag orders.
Those and other aggravating factors justified a prison term of up to nine years -under federal sentencing guidelines. While the guidelines are advisory, federal judges typically consider them carefully.
Stone was also charged with falsely telling Congress he had no emails or texts discussing WikiLeaks (he had a ton); with falsely saying he never asked for any requests to be communicated to Assange (he did); and with falsely saying he never discussed his conversations with his WikiLeaks intermediary with anyone in Trump’s campaign (Bannon and Gates said he did talk WikiLeaks with them).

The judge and prosecutors were biased ...9 years is absurd ..that's why Barr piped in ..Trump should pardon him and be done with the bullshit ... Why are these prosecutors "quitting the case" btw? ..and what was left for them to do anyway? ..They prosecuted him, the judge sentenced him ..what was left for them to do, or "quit" doing? ... They didn't quit their jobs over it like the media is making it sound ..they "quit the case" ...big deal .. The big to-do over that is kinda fishy too

Stone was not found guilty of One crime lying.. He is guilty of Seven Felony Counts.
Those and other aggravating factors justified a prison term of up to nine years --- under federal sentencing guidelines.
Anyone, old or young, would get the same Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Stone doesn't get a free pass because of his age or his affiliation with trump..
Everyone convicted of Seven Felony Counts would get the same sentencing guidelines. It is up to the judge to sentence the person.

Do you know what (sentencing) guidelines are? ..They're not mandatory sentences for specific crimes ... A judge uses his/her own discretion in sentencing based on factors like past criminal history, possibility of re-offending, threat to society, age, marital status, aggravating circumstances, prosecutor's recommendation, pre-sentencing report ..shit like that
This judge threw the book at Stone along with the fuk'n kitchen sink ...there's no reason for it other than her own bias ...

Bullshit .. "Guidelines" are not the maximum possible sentence allowed by law ...they're used as a reference to the punishment fitting the crime and the criminal ... Stone's punishment doesn't fit his crimes ...

I know what his crimes are and I know what his sentence is ...There's no sense in repeating your talking point ...Stone getting the maximum penalty for the crimes he committed is not justified ...If the judge gave Stone a reasonable sentence it would have ended there ...She didn't and it won't

It's clear that Stone is being punished for his alliance with Trump. It's another way to hit Trump. This compares to the inability to take everyone's gun away so we outlaw ammo. Clearly the left underestimates the backlash.

It was a year-long trial.. A jury found him guilty. and for Stones 7 felonies. convicted. he was given the regulatory guideline of 7-9 years that is recommended for everybody/his crimes of 7 felonies. Everybody would be given the same guideline years. it is up to the judge; the judge gives the years.
the years are recommended by the guidelines for the crimes the judge decides what the years will be 0 to 9 years.
I say; Stone will get 4 years.

Federal Judges Association calls emergency meeting to discuss AG Barr as crisis ‘could not wait’:
The independent Federal Judges Association will hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss Attorney General Bill Barr’s intervention into politically sensitive cases to help President Donald Trump.
Philadelphia U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe, who heads the group, told USA Today the meeting “could not wait .”
Rufe was nominated by President George W. Bush.
She said the group called for the meeting after the Department of Justice interference in the prosecution of longtime Trump accomplice Roger Stone.
