Ratings disaster: Dems trounced GOP on convention night 3 – ‘America’s Got Talent’ beat RNC, Harris beat Pence
The Republican National Convention by many accounts was a snoozefest, lacking interest or even what some thought were possible-drug-induced hyperbolic performances, and now the numbers prove that Americans tuned out the Trump-Pence show, bigly.
Fox News Sports’ executive vice president Michael Mulvihill, Head of Strategy and Analytics, just posted overnight ratings numbers, and they are as bad as you might have expected, if not worse.
Basically, Democrats’ convention night three beat the RNC’s night three by more than 50% – which is huge.
And vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris beat Vice President Mike Pence by a whopping 54% in top markets.
TVline also reports for the big three networks, the RNC’s Wednesday night show was the _“smallest combined tally thus far.”
NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” drew more viewers on just one network than the RNC did on three, delivering “the night’s biggest audience.”

Fact-Checked
Trump on his false claimed there are “lifesaving therapies” for COVID-19 and America’s “disastrously failed testing system.
Joe Biden does not support abortion at the time of birth.
The New York police department has not endorsed Donald Trump’s re-election.
There have not been 300 new miles of wall built.
It was Barack Obama who signed the Veterans Choice Act.
Our troops are not coming home.
Joe Biden has not promised to abolish the production of energy in the United States.
Joe Biden will not bulldoze the suburbs.
This talk about pre-existing conditions in terms of whether or not people can get health care, the Republican Party and the Trump administration explicitly is in court right now fighting to abolish the protections for people who have pre-existing that were part of the Affordable Care Act that’s going to be before the Supreme Court exactly one week after the election on November 10th. They are fighting to abolish protections for people with pre-existing conditions.”

Subject: Somebody Is Going To Bomb You- Campaign Rally Fri Aug 28, 2020 10:49 pm

Somebody is going to bomb you — might even be tonight’: Man at Trump rally to reporter
Boston 7 News reporter Alex DiPrato on Friday posted video from outside of President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Manchester, N.H.
As DiPrato was apparently looking at his phone, a maskless man approached him.
“Did you guys film what happened to Rand Paul last night?” the man asked the reporter. “How would you like that to happen to you?”
“Yeah, you can act like you got someone to text, but you’re really just a p*ssy,” the man said.
“How do you sleep at night when you lie to people?” the man asked, repeating Trump’s criticism of the press. “How do you sleep at night when you’re a f*cking liar?”
“You’ll pay, what comes around goes around. [Unintelligle] the law of reciprocity, what comes around goes around.
“You motherfuckers are going to pay. Somebody is going to bomb you — might even be tonight,” the man said.
CNN Fact-Checker Shreds Trump’s RNC Speech, Calls Out 21 False Or Misleading Claims-
Daniel Dale told CNN’s Anderson Cooper the president “serially lied” in his hourlong GOP convention speech.
“I counted, preliminarily, more than 20 false or misleading claims,” he began, before rattling off presidential lies one by one.
Here’s Dale’s fact-check of Trump’s claims:
Trump said Joe Biden is, quote, talking about taking down the border wall. ***Biden has specifically explicitly rejected that idea. He just said he’ll stop further additional construction.
Trump claimed, as always, that he is the one who passed the Veterans Choice law. ***Barack Obama signed that into law in 2014. Trump signed a 2018 law to modify it.
Trump said, “I have done more for the African American community than any president since Abraham Lincoln.” ***That is ludicrous. Lyndon Johnson, for one, signed the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.
Trump again touted a, quote, record 9 million job gain over the past three months. ***He didn’t mention, as usual, that that gain follows a record 22 million job loss over the previous two months.
He said he’ll, quote, continue to lower drug prices. ***They’ve increased during his presidency.
He said they opened a Jerusalem embassy for less than $500,000. ***Early documents show it was at least $21 million.
He claimed NATO member spending has increased for the first time in about 20 years. ***Spending, in fact, rose in 2015 and in 2016, before he took office.
He said he will always and Republicans will always strongly protect people with preexisting conditions. ***That pledge has already been broken. He and they have repeatedly tried to weaken those protections in Obamacare.
He claimed, again, that he banned travel from China and Europe. ***No, he imposed partial restrictions with many exemptions, tens of thousands of people continued traveling over.
He boasted about the COVID testing system and about his general response. ***Experts universally say the U.S. was fatally slow and its response especially slow in setting up adequate testing.
He said that he ended when he called the NAFTA nightmare and he signed a brand new U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement, the USMCA. ***That agreement preserves, maintains most of NAFTA.
He boasted about building about 300 miles of border wall. ***What he didn’t say is that most of that is replacement barrier. As of Aug. 7, according to official data, just five miles have been built where none existed before.
He suggested that Joe Biden would confiscate guns. ***Biden is running on a non-mandatory buyback of so-called assault weapons.
He said Democrats want to defund the police. ***Biden, again, doesn’t, has rejected that.
He said he has, quote, very good information that China wants Biden to win because Biden’s soft on China or cheerleads for China. ***The U.S. intelligence community says China wants Biden to win because it sees Trump as unpredictable.
He said Biden vowed to close down charter schools. ***Biden’s plan is skeptical on charters, but would not abolish them entirely.
He denounced Biden for voting for the Iraq war. ***Biden did indeed vote for the Iraq war, but what Trump doesn’t mention is that he also supported that invasion.
He said Democrats twice removed the word God from the Pledge of Allegiance at their convention. ***Two individual caucus meetings outside the main prime time programming did leave it out, but it was uttered in every prime time event.
Trump denounced so-called cancel culture as like an insidious left-wing thing. ***He, Donald J. Trump, has tried to get dozens of people and entities canceled, fired, boycotted, including literally last week: Goodyear.
He said he imposed an order to give 10 years in prison to rioters. ***That’s a maximum discretionary sentence up to judges in existing laws. His order just asked the government to fully enforce it.
And he said that Biden’s plan would eliminate America’s borders. ***No, just no. It’s wrong.
Subject: Trump Ruined Rose Garden Lawn.. Wed Sep 09, 2020 12:37 am

Trump’s RNC gathering at the White House damaged the lawn — and now they have to replace the grass.
On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that officials are conducting maintenance on the White House lawn — because President Donald Trump’s crowded RNC acceptance speech at the White House caused damage.
“President Trump’s reelection campaign is paying to replace sod on the White House South Lawn and in the Rose Garden after damage to the greenery late last month from large crowds and heavy equipment used for Republican National Convention festivities, White House and campaign officials said Tuesday,” reported Ashley Parker and Philip Rucker.
“Trump’s unprecedented decision to stage overtly political events on public property — which drew complaints that the Trumps were using ‘the people’s house’ for personal gain — continues to reverberate nearly two weeks later, as work crews re-sod the lawn and make other repairs.”
In addition to complaints about the use of government property for a political campaign, Trump also came under criticism for failing to enforce social distancing guidelines at the acceptance speech, with images revealing guests crowded closely together.
The Rose Garden recently underwent a renovation underseen by First Lady Melania Trump, which drew controversy for replacing the previous design with a sparser, minimalist one.

Chris Wallace, the Fox News anchor who will moderate the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, is a veteran newsman who has a reputation for playing it straight at a network where the opinion hosts skew to the right.
Wallace will serve as the sole moderator for Tuesday’s debate.
Donald Trump says Fox News’ Chris Wallace ‘will be controlled by the radical left’ moderating first debate with Joe Biden
The first of three debates to be held ahead of the November 3 election.
Trump, speaking to Fox News Radio, said that while he has a “lot of respect” for Wallace, he was “willing to bet that he won’t ask Biden tough questions.”
“He’ll ask me tough questions, and it’ll show, it’ll be unfair,” Trump said. “He’ll be controlled by the radical left.”
The Fox News interviewer, Brian Kilmeade, pushed back against Trump’s claim, saying that Wallace is “not controlled by anyone.” ............................................. Mick Mulvaney predicts 2 presidential debates will be canceled: ‘It’ll be the only one’
President Donald Trump’s former chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, seemed to indicate that his former boss might dodge additional presidential debates if he bombs in the first debate as he did in 2016.

Trump publicly claimed to have the support of the “Portland Sherriff.”
“In tonight’s presidential debate the President said the “Portland Sheriff” supports him.
Mike Reese @SheriffReese In tonight’s presidential debate the President said the “Portland Sheriff” supports him. As the Multnomah County Sheriff I have never supported Donald Trump and will never support him.

Seriously? Moderator of Second Presidential Debate Served as an Intern for Joe Biden BY STEPHEN GREEN OCT 01, 2020 3:10 PM EST
C-SPAN’s Steve Scully, who will moderate the second presidential debate, got his start as a staff assistant in Sen. Ted Kennedy’s communication office, and prior to that worked as in intern in the office of then-senator Joe Biden.

Chinese state media is using Trump’s debate meltdown to delegitimize democracy worldwide.
the Chinese state-owned media is seizing on President Donald Trump’s tantrum on the presidential debate stage to discredit democracy in America and in general.
“China and other opponents of democracy were the real winners in the utter chaos of the Trump/Biden debate, according to analysts” said reporter Selina Wang.
“For decades, Beijing has criticized American democracy, using flaws in the system to justify authoritarianism. This messy debate in which Trump questioned the legitimacy of the elections helps to bolster China’s argument, while further eroding confidence in American democracy.”
“State-backed tabloid Global Times said it reflected division, anxiety of the U.S. society, and accelerating losses of the advantage of the U.S. political system,” added Wang. “They also mocked the debate and in the debate there was, quote, ‘no pretense of decorum.'”

Donald Trump had it coming.
The last thing any of us should want is the president becoming some kind of QAnon martyr. My life and your life have been turned upside down —and we’re the lucky ones. Some of us are out of work. Some of us are getting sick or sicker. Some have buried mothers, uncles, cousins and sons. All of us have felt the empurpled rage of being lied to endlessly.
I’m writing this in a co-working space where I have to sign in every day (for contract tracing purposes), where I have to disinfect my desk every day, and where I have to wear a mask every day. I don’t shake hands anymore. I don’t hug anymore. We don’t invite friends over anymore. We are not invited over anymore. Our fourth-grader can’t go to school physically.
Nearly 213,000 Americans are never coming back, per Worldometer. More than 7.5 million more are infected. The economy will not return to normal until the new coronavirus is contained, and given how bad things are right now, it’s not going to be contained for a long, long time.
One in four working-age Americans has filed for unemployment benefits. That’s 40,000,000 people. Public spaces have been turned into hot zones churches, synagogues and mosques, theaters and concert halls, museums and nightclubs, restaurants and bars, sporting arenas, any place indoors where more than 20 people gather. Revenues are drying up, businesses going under, dignity being lost.
Amid all this, we’re bracing ourselves for bloodshed made inevitable when a president won’t commit to a peaceful transfer of power when he refuses to condemn white-power vigilante groups, indeed orders them to “stand back and stand by,” and when he repeatedly extorts the American republic, saying “either I win or something real bad happens.”
Amid all this, he repeatedly blames the sick and the dead for being sick and dead, or tells us we’re making up all this suffering, that it’s a hoax by the fake news trying to make him look bad, and that everything is for real super-duper jim-dandy.
That’s why I reserve the right to feel however I want to feel about the president’s health. The insult added to injury is too profound for me to tolerate exhortations by otherwise well-meaning people that no one say he had it coming to him. Let’s be clear: Donald Trump had it coming. The president deserves to get sick. He deserves to suffer for all the suffering he has caused millions of people knowing full well that millions of people were going to suffer.
He lied, and he lied, and he lied, because nothing is more important than his desiccated fetish for winning, which isn’t winning at all. It’s the wounded pride of an empty man who can afford to deny for a lifetime he’s weak.
This is the same man who mocked the disabled, women, people of color, Black people, anyone he considers beneath him, even people of integrity and honor doing the noble work of public service and trying to prevent the spread of a lethal virus. This is the same president who kidnapped babes-in-arms, banned Muslims, insulted war heroes, and pretended he was a big-shot when in reality he’s up to his eyeballs in debt. Why should I avoid taking a little pleasure in seeing what comes around going around?
Most of all, I hope he makes a full recovery so voters can sit in judgment of him, so a majority of the people can stuff democratic consequences into his orange face, and so law and order with justice can be administered in the name of God and country.
