Lawyers in Florida AG's own office mocked her support for 'insane' lawsuit
to overturn Trump's election loss.
When Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody expressed her support for the Texas' attorney general's announcement that he was suing four swing states in a last-ditch attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election, lawyers within her own office called her stance "weird" and "bat-sh** insane,"
the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Moody signed a co-brief with with 16 other Republican attorneys general urging the U.S. Supreme Court to hear Texas' case, saying the effort was about making sure the "integrity and resolution of the 2020 election is of paramount importance."
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had contended that Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin had "exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws and unlawfully enacting last-minute changes, thus skewing the results of the 2020 General Election."
In a December 2020 statement supporting the legal effort, Moody said: "The integrity and resolution
of the 2020 election is of paramount performance.
The United States Supreme Court should weigh the legal arguments of the Texas motion and all pending matters so that Americans can be assured the election was fairly reviewed and decided."
But as the Tampa Bay Times points out, lawyers within her office mocked the legal rationale behind the case, according to emails the publication obtained. The U.S. Supreme Court later declined
to hear the case.
