Despite being fully vaccinated, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has tested positive while visiting the Cop26 climate change summit in Glasgow and will now be forced to self-isolate in his hotel room.
The Mayor’s official Twitter account made the announcement this afternoon.
Garcetti previously made mask mandates mandatory even outside and told businesses to refuse service to anyone not wearing a face covering.
However, he was recently photographed in close proximity with others not wearing a mask at the opening of The Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures as well as at a Los Angeles Dodgers game.
On Monday, it was revealed that White House press secretary Jen Psaki had also tested positive for COVID despite wearing two masks and being double vaccinated.
Reacting to the fact that COVID-19 vaccines don’t prevent fully vaccinated people from catching or transmitting the virus, the CDC changed its definition of ‘vaccination’ back on September 1st.
Up until that date, the CDC described “vaccination” as “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease.”
That was subsequently changed to, “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.”
Put simply, years of understanding that a vaccine was supposed to provide “immunity” was changed to “protection” after health authorities had to concede that COVID-19 vaccines don’t provide immunity.
Leaked internal emails reveal that the change was made because the CDC’s own original (accurate) definition of vaccination was “being used by some to say COVID-19 vaccines are not vaccines per CDC’s own definition.”
“Right-wing covid-19 deniers are using your ‘vaccine’ definition to argue that mRNA vaccines are not vaccines,” said another email.
Despite some media outlets claiming natural immunity doesn’t even exist, that’s precisely what offers the best protection against COVID, with one Israeli study proving it was 27 times more effective than the Pfizer vaccine.
