The reality is that Biden has done a great job — but the pundits can't admit it
A year ago, we were all trapped in a flaming car that was speeding to the edge of a cliff. Joe Biden sprayed us with a fire extinguisher and slammed on the brakes.
The president could be doing literally nothing right now except sitting in the Oval Office and playing with his German Shepherd – and maybe occasionally nominating sane, competent, non-larcenous people to open agency posts and judgeships – and that would be outstanding.
We’re not on fire and we’re still on top of the cliff.
But what if, after fulsomely acknowledging that by electing Biden we have saved ourselves from going into absolute free fall (for now, though there’s always 2024), we made a serious, mature attempt to weigh Joe Biden’s performance in office? Even here, the media has been way off, and the assessment is badly distorted.
It is legitimate to acknowledge flaws. After all, haven’t there been missteps? Doesn’t America have problems? Yes, of course there were, and of course we do. Reality has a funny way of not being like a Trump fantasy realm of never-ending magic perfection.
But we can’t allow ourselves to be had by the “what about her emails” crowd.
You hear a lot of this on the economy, for example, from opportunistic right wing spin doctors: “Bu bu but inflation!” Inflation has been high and has lingered longer than expected. Voters have every right to feel anxious, upset, and irritated about it.
At the same time, the vast majority of economists agree that the economy is doing far better today than a year ago or than they expected. That’s why consumer confidence is high and rising.
The effects of higher prices have been largely offset for many by higher wages and much greater levels of employment, business is booming, the stock market is way up and prospects ahead are good.
Clearly, most things have gone well in the economy, and a few have gone poorly. Not exactly a “struggling” economic record, nor a sign of a wandering president; though to hear Fox News tell it, anyone who speaks these economic facts must be off their rocker because inflation! It’s the same elsewhere.
But the Afghanistan withdrawal had deadly errors! But not enough covid tests!
Yes, the withdrawal from Afghanistan had many mistakes and tragically, horribly, 13 Americans and many Afghans were killed. When have we ever gotten out of a war easily, or without tragic loss?
Yes, we should have stockpiled covid tests and masks earlier this year. We have also achieved the fastest and biggest vaccination program in history.
We even see some of the same dynamic on the left, reflected in voters who tell pollsters that they are “disappointed” in the president.
But BBB got stymied! But we didn’t pass election protection! But we need more on climate!
Yes, administration officials, including the president, have occasionally given confusing or awkward messages or raised expectations too high.
This president has also been more successful in passing meaningful legislation in his first year than any in living memory, leading to truly historic economic gains, lifting 3 million children out of poverty, finally investing in desperately-needed infrastructure, including major climate progress and environmental justice, and saving millions from eviction.
Along the way, outside of Congress, he reversed the Trump administration’s assault on the environment, gotten more judges confirmed in his first year than any president in 40 years, ended the European trade war and stopped the panic of global allies.
Neither should we be hornswoggled by the fallacy that failing grades are coming from voters. Any pollster worth their salt will tell you low approval ratings are not a serious assessment of performance. They are a mirror of voter’s feelings about their situation.
Amid higher prices and the omicron wave, voters are understandably very unhappy. They voice low approval ratings and grades to pollsters, which is the major avenue they have for signaling that unhappiness, especially the Republicans whose responses account for the bulk of negative Biden ratings.
Again, are voters unhappy about how the world is right now? Clearly. Does this really reflect Biden’s performance? Nope.
Joe Biden’s job performance in his first year is mostly praiseworthy. But that is beside the point.
One of Biden’s favorite lines is “don’t compare me to the Almighty, compare me to the alternative.” He has done what we, the voters, asked him to do.
He saved us from disaster. That deserves the highest marks.

Biden ends first year as president with 'bleak, discouraging' marks from the public
In a new NBC News poll, Americans give Biden low marks on overall job approval, the pandemic and the economy as he reaches the one-year mark.

Temple: Who are you protecting by not attributing that insane collection of half-truths, untruths, and outright fantasy to the original author?
It's not as if we don't already know there are lots of pundits and infotainment bobbleheads eager to lick Joe's balls for a paycheck. They aren't ashamed so why are you acting ashamed for them?
Just include the attribution. Sure it's for comedic value ...so we know exactly who to laugh at... but as it stands that utter dreck you poasted has no value at all.

JUST A FEW;;;
Well___ Think back to where we were by the second half of 2020, almost four years into:
A water cannon of lies ___ A cabinet of grifters and thieves __ disastrous and deadly Covid __ denial child separation ___ the Helsinki Putin bootlicking affair __ the "I would like you to do us a favor though" ___“some very fine people on both sides”___ the exploding tally of outrages, ___ 300,000 jobs and ___ $300 billion lost to the China trade war ___ racism-racism-racism ___the Syria pullout disaster ___the Paris accord pullout ___the Doha Agreement with the Taliban that set off a ticking time bomb in Afghanistan___ the sunami of Republican federal judges ___ The McConnell/Barrett swindle ___ the birth and growth of the Big Lie ____ our country’s turbo-charged fracturing into polarized shards___ the armed coup attempt ___ and the second impeachment.
Think now of the barrels of real and virtual ink spilled over imagining the Biff Tannen-esque dystopia (not a joke – Trump in power was literally the model for the worst future the screenwriters of 1989 could imagine.
America run by the worst of the worst sycophants and scoundrels, and the Trump family stealing and self-dealing in ever-larger amounts.
Faster global warming. Endless vendettas. Jailing dissidents. Clawing back LGBT rights. MAGA budgets and widespread hunger. Endless trade wars and rising nuclear standoffs. An impenetrable wall of judges. A chokehold on immigration. The end of democracy.
Do not accept the premise of the underlying question here. A year ago, we were all trapped in a flaming car that was speeding to the edge of a cliff. Joe Biden sprayed us with a fire extinguisher and slammed on the brakes.

CNN contributor annihilates Biden's 'disaster' of a presidency, questions if the country is any better now than under Trump PAUL SACCA, January 22, 2022
Political commentator Scott Jennings delivered a scathing rebuke of President Joe Biden during a recent appearance on CNN. The blistering takedown questioned whether Biden was any different or better on key issues than former President Donald Trump.
"I never imagined how quickly this would all unfold," Jennings said on Thursday's episode of "Anderson Cooper 360." "The person they sold on the campaign, the nice old, you know, moderate grandpa who just wanted to help everybody get along and compromise, is not what we got over the last year."
"He has no mandate really to do much of anything." Jennings continued. "It's amazing that he got a couple of things done when the mandate was really pretty clear – 50/50 Senate, a near 50/50 House, and a pretty close presidential election."
"The mandate was simply, 'Replace Donald Trump and don't do anything drastic or stupid,'" said Jennings, who previously worked as a special assistant for former President George W. Bush and was a former campaign adviser Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
"And everything about this agenda is extremely drastic, and he has been angrier than I think people expected," Jennings said.
Jennings added that Biden has also been "more divisive" and "more partisan" than what Americans anticipated.
"You look at the issues," the CNN contributor noted. "We built five years of coverage on Trump out of Russia, COVID, and democracy."
"The president at his press conference invites Russia to invade the Ukraine," he said.
During Biden's rare press conference on Wednesday, he suggested that "minor incursion" by Russia into Ukraine might not warrant a strong international response. The White House has since walked back Biden's comments.
Jennings pointed out that there have been more COVID-19 deaths under Biden than Trump.
According to Worldometer data, there were 430,803 COVID-19 deaths from the start of the pandemic until Biden was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2020. As of Jan. 20, 2022, there were a total of 884,866 COVID-19 deaths, meaning that there were 454,063 COVID-19 deaths in Biden's first year as president — despite having the benefit of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics such as monoclonal antibodies that Trump wasn't afforded.
During the presidential debate on Oct. 22, 2020, Biden told Trump, "Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States." At the time, there were approximately 220,000 U.S. COVID-19 deaths.
Days before the 2020 presidential election, then-candidate Joe Biden promised Americans, "I'm going to shut down the virus."
Jennings stated, "And now, we have the president and vice president and leading Democrats questioning the legitimacy of the 2022 election."
During Biden's press conference this week, he proclaimed that the 2022 midterm elections "easily could be — be illegitimate." White House press secretary Jen Psaki also walked back Biden's statement that the elections could be illegitimate. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris completely dodged questions about Biden hinting that the elections could be tainted and not conducted fairly.
Jennings — who had been critical of Trump as president while contributing to CNN — slammed Biden, "Are we any better off on these three issues that we crucified Trump over?"
Jennings brought to light a new Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll that found just 28% of Americans want Biden to run for re-election in 2024, including only 48% of Democrats. The survey released on Thursday, said 43% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance versus 56% who disapprove.
"This is a disaster," Jennings declared.
Jennings accused Biden of not showing any interest in key issues such as "schools, crime, your quality of life kind of stuff."
Jennings also tore apart Biden's first year in office in an opinion piece published in the Courier Journal.
"After a year we see the reality: divisive, angry, out-of-touch and as dishonest as his predecessor," he wrote of Biden.
"If there’s a human embodiment of ambiguity, apprehension, and confusion, Biden is it," Jennings said.

Scott Jennings is a talking turd who probably accuses anyone to the left of Dick Cheney of being a communist. He's only there to flog establishment republican talking points and corporate bootlicking propaganda, not impart any useful information.
Why do so many people insist on only getting their information about what's going on from the same political insiders who helped fuck everything up to begin with? You know they've got a malicious agenda. You know they're just going to cover their asses. Why bother when at best you're going to be misinformed if not outright lied to?
Fucking hell.
I think I need a break from this place... ...you people are depressingly self-sabotaged.

Here Vitty-- Some News you might like??
1-24-2022
Newt Gingrich (R-GA). On Saturday, he told the Fox network that members of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack are somehow going to be courted off to prison when the GOP takes over in 2022. Gingrich never quite explained what crimes he thinks the officials committed and on what charge they'd be arrested, but he firmly believes it will happen. If the members were arrested without a crime, as Gingrich suggests, Lofgren explained it would mean the U.S. has fallen..... ...... Steve Bannon says Republicans are going to impeach and arrest Joe Biden when the GOP wins in 2022. He announced that the 2023 Republican agenda, should they win the House and Senate back in 2022, will be to impeach and arrest President Joe Biden. "Preserve your documents because after impeachment, they're going to put you up on criminal charges," alleged Bannon. "Criminal charges for allowing this country to be invaded by your actions."
Immigrant advocates are attacking Biden for his deportations of those attempting to cross the borders. ..............
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke to the crowd of anti-vaccine activists who rallied at the Lincoln Memorial and explained how bad life is for those refusing to get vaccinated.
According to the notoriously anti-vaccine Kennedy, today in the United States is worse than what people experienced in Nazi Germany as people were being shipped off to their deaths. Kennedy specifically cited Anne Frank, the teenage girl who penned a diary about her experience hiding through the occupation. She was ultimately captured and sent to a concentration camp where she died. In the final year of her life, close friends Hanneli Goslar and Nanette Blitz, who survived the war, told authors of a Frank book that she was "bald, emaciated, and shivering." She is thought to have died from typhoid fever.
Kennedy said that Frank was lucky because at least she could hide during the Holocaust but that people today can't hide due to 5G and Bill Gates.
"Even in Hitler's Germany, you could hide in the attic like Anne Frank did."
It's the same argument that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has also made.
The Auschwitz Memorial Museum responded to the video saying that RFK Jr. is "exploiting the tragedy of people who suffered, were humiliated, tortured and murdered by the totalitarian regime of Nazi Germany - including children like Anne Frank - in a debate about vaccines and limitations during [a] global pandemic is a sad symptom of moral and intellectual decay." .......................

*sigh* .. I could watch videos of Rachel fucking Maddow and Brian Stelter and get the same worthless, hypocritical, slobbering drivel as Temple posts on the regular
Im sure we each have sources from which we gather info and can determine fact and fiction for ourselves .. without Temple incessantly pounding his left wing, anti Trump, anti republican, anti anti vaxer SHIT down our throat, with every petty anti right wing narrative he happens across .. It's fucking nauseating .. I (myself) really just don't give a shit The Biden-Harris admin and the democrats running the show sux major ass AFAIC .. They're too far left and too fucking woke with their identity politics and shit.. They never accepted the 2016 election for the entire 4 years.. Now our "democracy is threatened" over every fuk'n thing that happens that they don't like .. Everyone that isn't on board with them is a racist ..destroying the country... Causing division .. All the same shit we heard the previous 4 years
Multi Trillion$ spending bills .. wide open border ..billion$ in military weapons given to the Taliban ..all our allies that helped us in Afghanistan left behind to suffer
... Im not gonna listen to and/or try to contradict Temple's parroting of the media and praise of Biden and dems .. Sure, they're doing great .. Nothing to see here .. I'm done

Viewership of threads started by Temple is way, way down over the past year, Grack.
The "news" he posts - which is so far off the mark, and in no way is near to what's truly happening to our country under dem regimes - can be summed up with one gif:

That's what i mean .. He fancies himself as a "messenger" ..Same fuk'n "messages" we get from Psaki, MSNBC, CNN .. The View forfuksake.
We're/I'm well aware of the gadam messages .. He goes much further than the typical crazed left wingnut and the parroting of how our democracy is at stake over the fuk'n "insurrection" and Trump Trump Trump ... He could write a fucking biography on the guy
I don't think i can stomach anymore praise for Biden and democrats ..Everything is great ..the country is coming together ..if not for the white supremacists under every rock and behind every door .. And all white people are racist..everything is racist ..trees..roads..bridges ..very harmonious
To this day we're still hearing Trump-Russia.. Meanwhile Biden is on the verge of getting us into a fucking WAR with Russia and we hear little to nothing from the media (and/or Temple) about Russia.
.. Temple consumes about 80% of this board with pro democrat-anti republican drivel and details about Trump .. I like a debate but the mass of useless shit he drags in here isn't worth it .. He could at least try to post something amusing once in a while

I have a really good friend from Russia .. Immigrant .. She came legally, learned english and became a citizen .. She tells me all about Russia and Russians .. I don't get why people hate Russia .. They're not so different from us .. Some foods are a bit different, as shown in the video... She buys stuff from a "European" store (i think its Ukrainian).. I tried some kinda fish from there i almost gagged on, ..breads are different ..but she cooks and eats pretty normally..heh .. A LOT of potatoes ..won't touch the canned or instant like me. I'm not fussy about them...Anyway
They love Putin over there from what I've heard..whether that's good or bad i dont know, or care ..but to wanna go to war with Russia is absurd, and Biden and the dems are stupid enough to do just that, thinkin the population will cheer them on.. Sending troops over there to protect the Ukrainian border and gives not a shit about our own
People are about fed up with this admin, and if young men and women are gonna start getting killed over their stupidity we might see a REAL insurrection .. We still have 3 more years of this buffoon in office

Poasted this morning on Facebook:
The corporate duopoly of republican/democrat is wholly and irreparably corrupt. Greed and narcissism have rotted our government from the inside to the point that its very foundations are crumbling.
This can't be fixed by voting in more democrats and republicans. That's like repairing a half-eaten wooden frame by importing more termites.
If people can't step outside the toxic mindset that we *have* to vote for one of the two sources of our problems then inevitably the whole thing is going to collapse; the oligarchs and their puppets and their enablers aren't going to be crushed by the rubble though, are they. No, it'll be the plebs and the vulnerable and the deluded masses who are only doing what they've been told they should do: work hard, keep their heads down, and vote either Team Red or Team Blue. That's who will suffer the consequences when this hollow tower of lies and criminality falls in on itself, not the parasites who spent their careers chipping away at the walls and mortar to fill their own cocoons with privilege and lucre.
Wake the fuck up.
