____ IDIOT--- BWA! STOUPID-

Elon Musk challenges Putin to fight, with Ukraine
as the prize.

Put up your dukes, Vlad.

Elon Musk, the world's richest man, on Monday challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to
a fight, with nothing less than the fate of Ukraine, scene of Moscow's brutal invasion, at stake.

The eccentric billionaire and founder of aerospace company SpaceX took to Twitter, where his messages are notoriously erratic, to see whether the Russian leader would test his mettle in person rather than through his country's forces fighting across the border.

"I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat. Stakes are Ukraine," said Musk.

"Do you accept this fight?" he added in Russian, directly addressing the official English-language Twitter account of the 69-year-old president.

When one of Musk's 77 million followers wrote that the Tesla founder might not have thought his challenge through, Musk said he was "absolutely serious."

"If Putin could so easily humiliate the west, then
he would accept the challenge. But he will not,"
he added.

There was no immediate reaction from the Kremlin.

The South African-born Musk, 50, had already offered his support for Kyiv, tweeting "Hold strong Ukraine" this month while also offering "my sympathies to the great people of Russia, who do not want this" war.

He also responded to a Kyiv plea by activating the Starlink internet service in Ukraine and sending equipment to help bring connectivity to areas hit by Russian military attacks.

Musk often raises eyebrows on Twitter. In February he accused the US stock market regulator, which had imposed fines and restrictions on Musk and Tesla, of trying to muzzle his free speech.

And he compared Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Adolf Hitler in a message supporting opponents of government Covid restrictions.

He later deleted the post.

Twitter verges on collapse.

"We are witnessing the real-time destruction of one of the world's most powerful communication systems."

"It's no coincidence that a notorious union-buster and flagrant violator of labor law is effectively running one of the most viable tools we have for union organizing into the ground," responded the AFL-CIO as news reports detailed the internal turmoil at the company as Musk and his advisers scrambled to stop key employees from quitting.

Citing people familiar with the rapidly deteriorating situation inside Twitter, The Washington Post reported that__
"the number of engineers tending to multiple critical systems had been reduced to two, one, or even zero."

One worker told the newspaper that___
"there is no longer even a skeleton crew manning the system," meaning the platform "will continue to coast until it runs into something, and then it will stop."

The apparently dire situation, brought on by Musk's haphazard and dictatorial management decisions, sparked a cascade of "RIP Twitter" posts on the platform as users—including journalists, lawmakers, prominent public figures, and ordinary people—wondered about the platform's immediate and long-term future.

"As a lot of freelancers have been saying, if Twitter
goes down, our livelihoods suffer,"

"One anti-worker, union-busting, sniveling, sack o' shit billionaire is casually torpedoing the livelihoods of thousands of precarious media workers in the name of 'free speech,'" Kelly wrote.

"We are witnessing the real-time destruction of one of the world's most powerful communication systems,"
said Nicole Gill, co-founder and executive director of Accountable Tech, an advocacy group.
"Elon Musk is an erratic billionaire who is dangerously unqualified to run this platform."

"Unless and until Musk can robustly enforce Twitter's existing community standards," Gill continued, "the platform is not safe for users or advertisers.
Elon's 'hellscape' is already here."

"Twitter announced via email that it would close 'our office buildings' and disable employee badge access until Monday," the Times noted.

According to The Verge, "Multiple 'critical' teams inside Twitter have now either completely or near-completely resigned."

"That includes Twitter's traffic and front-end teams that route engineering requests to the correct back-end services," the outlet reported.
"The team that maintains Twitter's core system libraries that every engineer at the company uses is also gone. ____ 'You cannot run Twitter without this team,'
a departing employee said."

Musk, meanwhile, has continued making bizarre and flippant posts on the platform.

"His reckless actions, including sacking most of his staff and compelling others to leave, have caused an explosion of hate speech, conspiracy theories, and fraud on the site," said González.

"If there is one lesson that all social media platforms must take away from this debacle, it's that without protecting users from hate and lies, you have no company at all. Invest in the health and integrity of
your platforms or risk extinction."

Elon Musk cheers woke journalist migration from Twitter: ‘Judgy hall monitors stay on other platforms’
The social media site Mastodon has become a popular alternative among a certain set of journalists
By Lindsay Kornick | Fox News | Published November 22, 2022 7:00am EST

Mastodon, a social media alternative to Twitter, has reportedly become the source of woke infighting and journalistic "gatekeeping," much to the amusement of media critics and Twitter CEO Elon Musk himself.

After Musk began enacting new policies on the site, including reinstating banned accounts such as former President Trump, several prominent people announced they would be moving to Mastodon in protest. As more journalists moved onto the site, however, there were more reports of blocking, attacking and outright banning of users over political issues.

In one case, former Slate podcaster Mike Pesca was suspended from the popular Mastodon "instance," or server, for verified journalists called journa.host after linking to the New York Times story on the negative consequences of puberty blockers on children. Transgender blogger Parker Malloy attacked Pesca and complained that the "anti-trans content" was not removed from the network. According to the New York Times, Pesca was soon informed that, "he had been suspended for referring to Ms. Molloy as an 'activist,' which was dismissive."

"I had to join Mastodon to get called a bigot by @ParkerMolloy because I said a well reported NYT article complicated a common claim around puberty blockers. Seems a huge difference from Twitter," Pesca tweeted on Saturday.

Malloy was subsequently suspended from journa.host for calling transgender journalist Evan Urquhart a "bootlicker."

With several similar stories of self-proclaimed moderators making arbitrary decisions, Twitter users have been joking that Mastodon has become a den for "hall-monitor" journalists.

"Among the many irritating things about Mastodon is that it enables status-chasing journalists to gatekeep their peers by judging whether they have enough clout or are useful to other people's career ladder-climbing," digital media consultant Heidi N. Moore tweeted Sunday about an article on journa.host.

FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver replied, "Mastodon seems like a honeytrap for hall-monitor personality types. Honestly if Elon gets all the hall monitors to migrate to Mastodon that might be his greatest contribution toward the betterment of humanity."

Musk himself responded to Silver’s post tweeting, "What could be more fun than a social network consisting entirely of hall monitors!?"

In a separate tweet, he wrote, "Hope all judgy hall monitors stay on other platforms – please, I’m begging u."

"Mastodon is the woke lib journo circular firing squad hell pit they always wanted Twitter to be," Twitter user Comfortably Smug joked.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted, "Over on Mastodon - the obscure refuge to which liberal journalists are fleeing in fear of free speech even though they can't figure it out - they're already banning each other over the most trivial infractions. It's like a laboratory to study how censorship-happy rats behave."

"Shocked to see the kinder, gentler twitter is equally full of drama," Blocked and Reported podcast's Katie Herzog tweeted, while her co-host Jesse Singal said, "[T]his meltdown really just reinforces all my preexisting views about this entire censorious crew. Let them have their dumb Mastodon instance so they'll leave the rest of us alone."

"Mastodon is already a [colossal] failure, with all the wokes reporting and suspending each other," researcher Eli David wrote.

"Mastodon is hell. And it’s a hell in which every moderator can read your DMs and if they deem you to be talking behind their backs you will get banned. It’s the inverse of Twitter, where people can publicly make fun of @elonmusk and not get banned for it," journalist Ian Miles Cheong declared.

Several journalists and media pundits offered "final" tweets late last week in the belief that Twitter would be shut down due to Musk’s policies and mass firings. CBS News even announced on Friday that it would be suspending its use of Twitter due to the "uncertainty." The media outlet returned to the account less than 48 hours later.

However, some journalists have continued to defend Mastodon as a viable option. New York Times' Joseph Bernstein reported that many members claimed the site was just like Twitter without "the nastiness."

"Many journa.host members use the service no differently than they use Twitter, sometimes posting the same text simultaneously to each platform," Bernstein wrote. "Indeed, at times, journa.host looks a lot like Twitter, just without all the non-journalists and most of the nastiness."

Leftists are more authoritarian than communist China. If you don't toe the leftist line then that's it, you're done, it's over, off to the gulags with you.

Temple fortunately will never have to worry about that as he's a good little puppet on the leftist strings.

Twitter goes on banning spree of journalists reporting on Elon Musk.

Multiple journalists had their Twitter accounts suspended on Thursday shortly after they wrote tweets that referenced Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

As of this writing, Twitter has suspended the accounts of CNN's Donie O'Sullivan, New York Times reporter Ryan Mac, Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell, Mashable reporter Matt Binder, and independent progressive commentator Aaron Rupar.

Twitter has given no explanation for the suspensions, although all of the journalists mentioned were either writing stories on or commenting on Musk's content moderation policies at the social networking website.

O'Sullivan, for instance, had just posted a report he filed in which he quoted the Los Angeles Police Department as saying there had not yet been a criminal report filed over Musk's claim that an unidentified man attacked a car carrying his son earlier this week.

Harwell's last post, meanwhile, as about Twitter banning the account of rival social media network Mastadon for posting a link to its own account that posts publicly available data about the flights of Musk's private jet.

When Musk bought Twitter, he promised it would be a haven for "free speech" and restored the accounts of multiple neo-Nazis who had previously been suspended for engaging in racist harassment.

French official fires warning shot at Elon Musk that new Twitter policy could open up 'criminal liability'

Twitter on Sunday announced a new policy about promotion of rival social media platforms -- and one French government official is warning the company
that it could have major legal consequences.

In a Sunday afternoon post, the Twitter Support account stated that "we will no longer allow free promotion of certain social media platforms on Twitter."

Twitter Support then specified that "we will remove accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social platforms and content that contains links
or usernames for the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr and Post."

In response to this post, Éric Freyssinet, the deputy director of France's Cyberspace Gendarmerie Command, warned Twitter CEO Elon Musk that his company could lose protections against both civil and criminal legal liabilities if it really enforces this policy.

"Any attempt to remove my tweets that link to my other social media accounts, not violating any law, would actually make Twitter an editorial media, and no longer
a social media platform, with civil and criminal liability
for *any* illegal content therein," he explained.

Musk first banned Mastadon's official account last week when it posted a link to an account on its site that tracks the location of Musk's private jet.

Sunday afternoon, however, was the first time the company floated a flat-out ban of promotions by other competitors.

((((( Elon was voted out----
Will he stay or will he go?)))))

12-19-2022

Millions of users vote in Twitter poll to axe Elon Musk
as platform CEO.

Twitter users voted on Monday to oust controversial owner Elon Musk as CEO in a poll he organized and promised to honor, just weeks after he took charge
of the social media giant.

A total of 57.5 percent of more than 17 million accounts
voted for him to step down.

He took over Twitter on October 27 and has repeatedly courted controversy, sacking half of its staff, readmitting far-right figures to the platform, banning journalists and trying to charge for previously free services.

Analysts have also pointed out that the stock price of Tesla has slumped by one-third since the Twitter takeover.

"It's hard to ignore the numbers since [Twitter] deal closed," tweeted investment expert Gary Black, saying he reckoned Tesla's board was putting pressure on Musk to quit his Twitter role.

In discussions with users after posting his latest poll, Musk claimed he had no successor in mind and renewed his warnings that the platform could be heading for bankruptcy.

Dorsey bemused
The unpredictable billionaire posted the poll shortly after trying to extricate himself from yet another controversy.

On Sunday, Twitter users were told they would no longer be able to promote content from other social media sites.

But Musk seemed to reverse course a few hours later, writing that the policy would be limited to "suspending accounts only when that account's *primary* purpose
is promotion of competitors".

"Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes. My apologies. Won't happen again," he tweeted.

The attempted ban had prompted howls of disapproval and even bemused Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey,
who had backed Musk's takeover.

He questioned the new policy with a one-word tweet: "Why?"

'Perfect storm'
Musk has generated a series of controversies in his
short reign.

Analyst Dan Ives from Wedbush called his tenure
a "perfect storm".

He flagged that "advertisers have run for the hills and left Twitter squarely in the red ink potentially on track
to lose roughly $4 billion per year we estimate".

On November 4, with Musk saying the company was losing $4 million a day, Twitter laid off half of its 7,500-strong staff.

In recent days, he suspended the accounts of several journalists after complaining some had published details about the movements of his private jet, which he claimed could endanger his family.

Employees of CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post were among those affected in a move that drew sharp criticism, including from the European Union and the United Nations.

The Washington Post's executive editor Sally Buzbee said the suspension of journalist Taylor Lorenz's account "further undermines Elon Musk's claim that he intends to run Twitter as a platform dedicated to free speech".

Elon Musk on Twitter: I'll resign as CEO
The tweet from the platform's new owner marks the first time he’s responded to a Sunday unscientific poll in which he asked whether he should step down as the company's chief executive.

Elon Musk plans to resign as CEO of Twitter, he tweeted late Tuesday, following a poll on the platform in which a majority of users said he should leave his post.

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!”
“After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”

Musk’s tweet on Tuesday night marks the first time he’d responded to a Sunday unscientific poll in which he asked whether he should step down as CEO.
The results reflected that a majority of respondents (57.5 percent) said he should leave the top role of the company.

Musk’s words aren’t binding, and it’s not clear what the role of a CEO would be with a dominating personality like Musk still as owner of the company.

Musk has yet to identify a future successor and, in fact, floated the possibility in November that he might have to file for bankruptcy in order to pay back the $13 billion in debt he borrowed from banks for the purchase.
He has seen his personal fortune decline since he bought the site, losing his title as the world’s richest man.

In the less than two months since Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion and took it private, he has fired its top leadership team, gutted its staff, driven away major advertisers and unbanned accounts, including that of former President Donald Trump. His actions have raised concerns about the future of the platform.

However, despite the controversy Musk has stoked in lifting most of its existing rules against misinformation with his commitment to “free speech,” lawmakers remain on the site. Many say there isn’t another social media platform with the equivalent reach to reporters and Washington insiders.

Hey Temple .. Can you say exactly what it is that has you so opposed to Elon Musk and his take over of twitter? .. Honest question

Obviously you're not alone in your..."dislike" for Musk .. It seems that most are claiming its hate speech, racial slurs, etc.. but stats show that those are actually on the decline .. Some are bent outta shape over the blue check mark shit .. I guess i could see complaints, but it's a bit drastic for people to close their accounts over it, IMO ... Others claim they're leaving twitter because Trump's account was reenstated ... and he hasn't even posted there...besides, they could simply not follow him and not hafta witness his mean tweets

Now people are pissed off at him for the "twitter files" being revealed...most of which were a well known secret anyway .. All the facts were dismissed as conspiracy theories, hacking, and/or Russian misinformation

Musk buying twitter and revealing the behind the scene collusion between the FBI and twitter employees should be welcomed by Americans in general .. The top law enforcement agency in the U.S. colluding with big tech to stifle significant posts and posters during the months leading up to a presidential election, which had a major impact on the outcome ... Now *that* is a ~threat to democracy~ if there ever was one .. Knowing how important democracy is to democrats and the left in general, why are they so opposed to all that being revealed to the public? ... We have the facts now in "black and white" ... It can't be dismissed as conspiracy theories .. Isn't that what we want? ... Facts?.. Truth? ...Anyway
... I read part of a thread on twitter recently .. The twitter mob is apparently pissed off about the "length of time" being spent posting these files while more and more proof is being revealed ...They believe the time should be spent on the Jan 6 committee's decision to have Trump prosecuted, which has already taken 2 years and multiple TV shows ..
... But I'm thinking, - isn't there another/different thread on that topic? .. Why post on a thread to complain about its time consumption and not about a different topic? .. Surely there's gotta be Jan 6 committee threads on twitter .. *shrug*

I don't believe any specific democrats have been named in their under the table requests to remove posts and ban posters ... Not yet AFAIK .. So WTF is their mental malfunction?

There is no cause for shit like this .. The left just wants to cancel anyone that rubs them the wrong way

Elizabeth Warren is pissed off that Elon Musk now has complete say-so in what was a haven for the left, so she tries to use her influence as a senator to go after his CEO position at Tesla

... I don't believe there's any back story to this .. Musk wasn't bothering this bitch .. It's just what the leftists do in this cancel culture ... It's hateful and vindictive

I'd bet the bank that this kinda shit has a LOT to do with the loss of advertisers ... It's underhanded ...cowardly .. This bitch should concern herself with the district she's supposed to represent and maybe mind her own fuk'n business

That doesn't even make any fuk'n sense .. It appears you're too ignorant to read past the first short paragraph you quoted
... For one thing, the twitter file dumps have gone on more than a couple days .. And the issue isn't Elon Musk .. I asked you why you're so opposed to him buying twitter because all your posts on the subject have been negative...obviously .. But you gave me an answer to a question that wasn't asked
Quote :

I hate to burst your bubble but it's not about you, Temple .. Nobody gives a shit if you post at twitter, or if you care about it or not .. You don't need to post at twitter or be registered there to know WTF has been happening

So if i understand your bloviating correctly, you're sayin you don't care that the FBI colluded with twitter to supress info by deleting posts and banning posters .. The dates confirm that it was happening months, weeks, and days before the 2020 election and it was confirmed that the info that was suppressed definately had an influence on the election ..ya see? .. So it's not about you or if you care about twitter

... It's about the major law enforcement in the U.S. colluding with twitter employees with the specific intent of influencing the result of the presidential election .. In case you can't follow along ... The FBI did the bidding with big tech (twitter and facebook) for Biden to help him get elected

.. You don't care about twitter... BFD... But like the democrats, you pretend to care very much about "our democracy" ..and what the FBI did with the help of twitter employees is much more of a" threat to democracy" than anything else in recent history .. and BTW several democrats were involved in the same practice with twitter employees... They just haven't been specifically named...yet
Quote :

I can't imagine what you consider "good" about anything you posted about twitter, Musk...or anything else for that matter ... You haven't even posted anything of what's happening ...just negative shit about Musk, which is far less significant ... and i believe you purposely avoid anything about the twitter dumps because they look really bad for the left ... Downright criminal, I'd say

But not to worry... It all helped Biden get his ass in the white house...that's what's important, right? ...Doesn't matter how he got there ..can't change that now ... But now there's undeniable proof that the FBI helped him get there

I've been on a sabbatical from work the past couple days ..plus we had a fuk'n blizzard today ... I'm also on suspension from facebook and instagram ..so there's that too .. Anyway, I've had some extra free time i thought I'd spend here for rants and such ... I know you guys like it ...it's cool right? Smile

.. I've been online observing peoples' reaction to Musk taking over twitter .. actually what people are reacting and how ... I would think it wouldn't be that important to the average twitter poster .. Everyone is still free to post as usual .. I can understand the blue check poster's complaints with the changes to that ...still, not really a big change or that crucial

Clearly it's the *left* that's been acting like the sky is falling over the change in ownership, and i hafta wonder why and what they're afraid will happen to make it unbearable for them to post there as usual ... The twitter mob is still there critisizing the republicans when they post, and anyone else they don't like ..and i have no doubt they're still going after their percieved foes in their private lives, finding where they work to hopefully get them fired...ruin their lives if at all possible ... That's all done "under the table" and it doesn't matter who owns twitter for that to continue ...Look what Elizabeth Warren did with Musk (a few posts up) ...I doubt she thought he'd be shown her letter to find out about it ...
....But i really am wondering why they're so fukd up over the change of ownership ... Have they always hated Musk before he bought twitter?...
.... I was sincere when i asked Temple ... The question wasn't asked to give him a hard time

I can't imagine that the left could have foreseen that those twitter files would be dug up, posted, and the stifling of Trump supporters and right wingers exposed ...
....I have no doubt whatsoever that democrats were well aware and participated in all of it ...Maybe some celebrity lefties were privy to it via dems and started the Musk hating bandwagon ride and the others hopped aboard .. *shrug* ... and other safety resources to users looking up certain content, according to two people familiar with the matter who said it was ordered by new owner Elon Musk.

The removal of the feature, known as #ThereIsHelp,
has not been previously reported.
It had shown at the top of specific searches contacts for support organizations in many countries related to mental health, HIV, vaccines, child sexual exploitation, COVID-19, gender-based violence, natural disasters and freedom of expression.

Its elimination could add to concerns about the well-being of vulnerable users on Twitter.
Musk has said that impressions, or views, of harmful content are declining since he took over in October and has tweeted graphs showing a downward trend, even
as researchers and civil rights groups have tracked an increase in tweets with racial slurs and other hateful content.

Twitter and Musk did not respond to requests for comment on the removal of the feature.

Washington-based AIDS United, which was promoted in #ThereIsHelp, and iLaw, a Thai group mentioned for freedom of expression support, both told Reuters on Friday that the disappearance of the feature was a surprise to them.

Damar Juniarto, executive director at Twitter partner Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network, tweeted on Friday about the missing feature and said
"stupid actions" by the social media service could lead his organization to abandon it.

Reuters could not immediately establish why Musk would order the removal of the feature. The sources with knowledge of his decision declined to be named because they feared retaliation.
One of them said millions of people had encountered #ThereIsHelp messages.

Eirliani Abdul Rahman, who had been on a recently dissolved Twitter content advisory group, said the disappearance of #ThereIsHelp was "extremely disconcerting and profoundly disturbing."

Even if it was only temporarily removed to make way for improvements, "normally you would be working on it in parallel, not removing it," she said.

In part due to pressure from consumer safety groups, internet services including Twitter, Google and Facebook have for years tried to direct users to well-known resource providers such as government hotlines when they suspect someone may be in danger.

Twitter had launched some prompts about five years ago and some had been available in over 30 countries, according to company tweets.
In one of its blog posts about the feature, Twitter had said it had responsibility to ensure users could
"access and receive support on our service when they need it most."

Just as Musk bought the company, the feature was expanded to show information related to natural disaster searches in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Alex Goldenberg, lead intelligence analyst at the non-profit Network Contagion Research Institute, said prompts that had shown in search results just days
ago were no longer visible by Thursday.

He and colleagues in August published a study showing that monthly mentions on Twitter of some terms associated with self-harm increased by over 500% from about the year before, with younger users particularly
at risk when seeing such content.

"If this decision is emblematic of a policy change that they no longer take these issues seriously, that's extraordinarily dangerous," Goldenberg said.
"It runs counter Musk's previous commitments to prioritize child safety."

Musk has said he wants to combat child porn on Twitter and has criticized the previous owner's handling of the issue.
But he has cut large portions of the teams involved in dealing with potentially objectionable material.

Texas Tribe Sues Elon Musk to Protect Sacred Sites From SpaceX.

From an observation deck near the top of his South Texas rocket launch tower, Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and self-proclaimed proponent of free speech, looks northward to South Padre Island, home to many ancient village sites of the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas.

In a video published last May to the YouTube channel Everyday Astronaut, Musk is seen looking over the tower’s railing and down at a “farm” of huge rocket fuel storage tanks filled with liquid oxygen and methane gas. These will service weekly launches of SpaceX’s massive Super Heavy and Starship orbital launch vehicles in 2023.

Musk surveys the land from the gleaming metal launch tower, looking down on an ecosystem filled with endangered species, such as ocelots and Kemp’s ridley sea turtles.
To the east, he sees the waves of the Gulf of Mexico crashing on Boca Chica Beach, the site of the Carrizo Comecrudo creation story.
To the northwest just a few miles away is Garcia Pasture, an archaeological site containing the remains
of a pre-Columbian village nearly a thousand years old.

Musk wears a black T-shirt with “Occupy Mars” emblazoned across the front, as if his corporate conquest and colonization of space were some sort of righteous protest.
As he stands atop his multibillion-dollar mountain of toxic machinery, he cannot see the Indigenous people below who have come to offer tobacco to their ancestors.

The planned expansion of a SpaceX launch center may destroy ancient village sites and their artifacts and human remains.

Elon Musk is still facing deep criticism for echoing remarks tweeted by one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's allies.

According to HuffPost, Dmitry Medvedev —a vocal supporter of the Russian-Ukrainian war— tweeted remarks suggesting that the United States would be "ripped apart by civil war, that Musk would become U.S. president, and that a 'Fourth Reich' would be created in Europe."

In response to the thread of tweets, Musk commented saying, "epic thread."

Almost immediately after Musk shared his reaction, Twitter users wasted no time chiming in to criticize him for seemingly bragging about the disturbing Russian propaganda.

"Are you a Russian agent/ propagandist now?
Why are you doing this?" one Twitter user asked.

Another user asked, "Are you F out of your mind? Cheering on a Russian war criminal 'predicting' a civil war in the US?
Tesla shareholders must be thrilled!"

After hours of facing a litany of tweets, Musk chimed in with another tweet appearing to offer an explanation for his previous remarks. He also attempted to downplay his gushing over Medvedev's remarks by describing the claims as "absurd."

"Those are definitely the most absurd predictions I’ve ever heard, while also showing astonishing lack of awareness of the progress of artificial intelligence and sustainable energy," he tweeted.

However, some weren't buying Musk's response.
In fact, Putin critic and world chess champion Garry Kasparov also weighed in with criticism of Musk.

“This is moral idiocy, repetition of Kremlin propaganda,
a betrayal of Ukrainian courage and sacrifice, and puts
a few minutes browsing Crimea on Wikipedia over the current horrific reality of Putin’s bloody war,”
Kasparov said on Twitter.

Elon Musk Becomes First Person Ever To Lose $200 Billion.

Elon Musk has now achieved a first of his own:
becoming the only person in history to erase $200 billion from their net worth.

Elon Musk was the second person ever to amass a personal fortune of more than $200 billion breaching that threshold in January 2021, months after Jeff Bezos.

The Tesla Inc. chief executive officer has now achieved
a first of his own: becoming the only person in history
to erase $200 billion from their net worth.

Musk, 51, has seen his wealth plummet to $137 billion after Tesla shares tumbled in recent weeks, including an 11% drop on Tuesday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

His fortune peaked at $340 billion on Nov. 4, 2021, and he remained the world's richest person until he was overtaken this month by Bernard Arnault, the French tycoon behind luxury-goods powerhouse LVMH.

The round-number milestone reflects just how high Musk soared during the run-up in asset prices during
the easy-money pandemic era.

Tesla exceeded a $1 trillion market capitalization for the first time in October 2021, joining the likes of ubiquitous technology companies Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., Amazon.com Inc. and Google parent Alphabet Inc., even though its electric vehicles represented only a sliver of the overall auto market.

With pressure on Tesla intensifying, Musk has been preoccupied with Twitter, which he acquired for $44 billion in late October.
He's applied a move-fast-and-break-things approach such as firing staff then asking them to come back and applying content policies haphazardly to justify banning the accounts of some prominent journalists who cover him.

The decline in Tesla shares has been so steep - the shares fell 65% in 2022 -and Musk has sold so much this year to help cover his Twitter purchase, that they're no longer his biggest asset, according to Bloomberg's wealth index.

Musk, for his part, has dismissed concerns about Tesla and has repeatedly taken to Twitter to criticize the Federal Reserve for raising interest rates at the fastest pace in a generation.

Tesla investors argue Musk can receive fair 'funding secured' trial in San Francisco

(Reuters) - A lawsuit alleging Elon Musk manipulated Tesla Inc's stock in 2018 should go to trial next week and he will be able to find unbiased jurors in San Francisco, despite local animosity, said a court filing by shareholders who are suing him for billions of dollars.

Tesla shareholders argued it would be unfair to move the trial to Texas as requested by Musk, who has outraged many in Northern California with the steep job cuts he ordered at Twitter, a San Francisco company he bought in October.

"What they refer to as 'biased' coverage is, in fact, factual reporting about his management of Twitter, Inc., and has no bearing on the jury’s ability to render a fair verdict," said the court filing by the shareholders.

Musk's lawyers requested on Jan. 6 that the federal judge delay or move the trial to Texas due to media coverage of Twitter's job cuts that was "inflammatory" compared with balanced reporting on layoffs at other companies in the city like Lyft Inc.

Videos of an audience booing Musk during a surprise appearance at a Dave Chappelle show in San Francisco in December were circulated online.
“It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience," the comedian said in the clip.

Musk later admitted it was "a lot of boos" and added in
a now-deleted tweet: "It's almost as if I've offended SF's unhinged leftists ... but nahhh."

Tesla moved its headquarters from the San Francisco area to Texas in 2021.

The trial is scheduled to start on Jan. 17 and feature testimony from Musk about his behind-the-scenes efforts in 2018 to line up financing to buy out the electric vehicle maker.

The judge will hear arguments on the requested venue change on Friday.

Shareholders accuse Musk of causing billions of dollars in losses for investors by making false and misleading statements to artificially inflate the stock price.

Musk tweeted in August 2018 that he had "funding secured" to take Tesla private, sparking 10 days of volatile trading in its stock shares, bonds and options.

Defendants, which also include Tesla and its board at the time, will make their case that Musk was not misleading investors in a material way.

Musk had met Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the managing director of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, on multiple occasions, according to the court filing, which also said Al-Rumayyan had urged Musk to take Tesla private and offered up to $60 billion in backing.

Al-Rumayyan is among the witnesses expected to testify along with Oracle Corp co-founder Larry Ellison and James Murdoch, son of Fox Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch, according to court filings.

U.S. District Court Judge Edward Chen determined in May that the 2018 tweets were untrue and reckless.
The jury will determine if the statements actually impacted Tesla's share prices, whether Musk acted knowingly and whether to award damages and in what amount.

Elon Musk victorious in securities case over 2018 Tesla tweet.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has triumphed in a Securities and Exchange Commission case that had alleged he broke financial laws with a tweet in 2018 claiming he was going to take Tesla private, reported Axios on Friday.

A jury in San Francisco has ruled in Musk's favor, finding him not liable for securities fraud.

"In August 2018, Musk tweeted that he had 'funding secured' to take Tesla private at $420 a share," reported Kia Kokalitcheva. "Musk has since claimed (including during the trial in a San Francisco federal court) that he believed Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund had committed to back the effort, and that more broadly securing capital wouldn't be a barrier in any case.

Still, investors sued him and Tesla for fraud by knowingly or recklessly making the public claims, and causing them investment losses."

Musk previously agreed to a settlement with the SEC to pay $20 million and step down as chairman of Tesla.

The billionaire has invited a firestorm of controversy over the last year after he purchased Twitter, ostensibly to reform the platform's policies around content moderation and make the site more amenable to "free speech".

Near the end of last year, he particularly triggered outrage after several journalists covering him were banned from the platform, and after he moved to prohibit people from promoting other social networks on the site.

Elon Musk's brain implant company under new investigation.

Neuralink, the startup founded by tech billionaire Elon Musk to develop implants that will connect directly to people's brains, is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Transportation for potentially transporting hazardous pathogens after experimenting on monkeys, reported Business Insider on Thursday.

"A DOT spokesperson confirmed to Insider that the agency was looking into the issue on Thursday after an animal rights group had sent a letter to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg," reported Grace Kay.

"The group, the Physicians Committe of Responsible Medicine (PCRM) said in a press release on Thursday that it had emails and other records that pointed to the possibility that the company had not properly packaged the brain implants from its test monkeys ahead of transportation in compliance with Federal Hazmat Law.

PCRM said the documents showed that pathogens, like antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus and Klebsiella, as well as Herpes B virus, had potentially been transported in 2019 without meeting DOT guidelines, including proper sanitization and packaging."

"The documents are from when Neuralink was working with the University of California, Davis. The partnership ended in 2020, but PCRM told Reuters that Musk's company still employs many of the same staff, including the neurosurgeon in charge of the experiments on the animal test subjects," said the report.

Neuralink hasn't responded for requests to comment, but a UC Davis spokesperson "told Insider that the institution complies with lab safety and biohazard regulations."

PCRM has previously filed a lawsuit against UC Davis over the Neuralink experiments and lodged a complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, saying that the monkeys experienced
"extreme suffering as a result of inadequate animal care and the highly invasive experimental head implants during the experiments."

Neuralink has vowed that its implants, designed to attach directly to the brain in a surgical procedure,
could one day cure paralysis or even allow people to telepathically communicate with other people who have the implants.

This comes as Musk faces other legal problems in his business empire, with the Justice Department criminally investigating Tesla Motors over the company's allegedly deceptive claims about its "autopilot" driving assist features, which have been implicated in multiple deaths of drivers.
