WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tested positive for COVID-19, a day after appearing unmasked at a White House event with President Joe Biden.

Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic, her spokesman Drew Hammill said Thursday in a tweet. He said she had tested negative earlier in the week.

“The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided,” Hammill said.

Pelosi will “quarantine consistent with CDC guidance, and encourages everyone to get vaccinated, boosted and test regularly,” he said.

The 82-year-old Democratic leader’s announcement came ahead of her weekly press appearance on Capitol Hill, which was abruptly called off. The House is set to start a two week spring recess.

Pelosi also postponed a planned congressional delegation trip to Asia she was scheduled to lead.

Washington has experienced a rush of new COVID-19 cases as restrictions have lifted and more events and gatherings are happening across Washington, D.C.

On Wednesday, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo announced positive tests. The officials were among more than a dozen attendees of the Saturday night Gridiron Club dinner to test positive for the virus. Pelosi did not attend the dinner, her spokesman said.

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also announced Thursday that she tested positive for COVID-19 and would “work at home while following isolation protocols.”

Several lawmakers have announced positive test results and are isolating.

The Capitol reopened last week to some public tours for the first time since it was shuttered two years ago with the onset of the pandemic.

Why even mention her being unmasked? ..Is anyone working on a vaccine that provides more robust protection against the virus or will everyone continue to get booster shots of the same shit and continue to contract the virus? .. I thought they were saying this is the pandemic of the unvaccinated?

BTW: will the protection of the vaccine be any more or less robust if Pelosi is drunk during her quarantine?

Study Shows Efficacy of mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines Against Severe Disease Drops 4 Months After Booster Dose

Although prevention decreased with time, a third booster dose was still highly effective at preventing severe illness with COVID-19.

A new CDC study is the first to show that immunity against severe cases of COVID-19 begins to fall off 4 months following the third dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), according to a Regenstrief Institute press release.

Declining immunity was observed against both the Delta and Omicron variants, which is similar to how the efficacy of mRNA vaccines drops after the second dose, according to the study. Although prevention decreased with time, a third booster dose was still highly effective at preventing severe illness with COVID-19, according to the study.

“The mRNA vaccines, including the booster shot, are very effective, but effectiveness declines over time. Our findings suggest that additional doses may be necessary to maintain protection against COVID-19, especially for high-risk populations,” said study co-author Brian Dixon, PhD, MPA, Regenstrief Institute and Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health director of public health informatics, in the press release. “We also found that people who are Hispanic or Black are half as likely to have a third vaccine dose than people who are white, making people who are Hispanic or Black more vulnerable to severe COVID and highlighting the need for public health officials to double down on efforts to protect these vulnerable populations.”

Temple is bound to get ten boosters to insure he won't die from Covid - but he could still slip on his tongue and drown in a pit of dog vomit.

The news of Mrs Pelosi's diagnosis comes as the US approaches 1 million Covid-19 related deaths since the start of the pandemic.

After a steep spike in infections in December - fuelled by the highly contagious Omicron variant - Covid-19 cases and hospital admissions have fallen precipitously since mid-January.

But breakthrough infections have hit a number of high-powered Washington residents in recent days, with vaccinated leaders including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and US Congressman Adam Schiff announcing they had tested positive.

When these people keel over, old age or being a chronic drunk will be blamed - not Covid.

When you got the polio vaccine you didn't get polio .. Why is the covid vaccine compared to vaccines in the past? .. We didn't get multiple booster shots for polio and get polio despite the vaccine and multiple boosters. The vaccine eradicated the virus that caused polio .. Same with smallpox .. A friend i work with lost his sense of taste and smell after his vaccination. He contracted covid, btw .. I don't ask people if they've been vaccinated or not but he's the only one around me that i know had covid and the only one i know that was vaccinated

The common cold is annoying but-
It keeps up your immune system.

They stated why but to me to understand the science
of the workings of the common cold- eeehhh.
