Germany Mocked Trump for Warning About Dependence on Russian Energy: Now they Pay 153% More and Are at Putin’s Mercy

Germany Mocked Trump for Warning About Dependence on Russian Gas: Now they Pay 153% More and Are at Putin's Mercy

On 25 September 2018, 4 years ago, President Donald Trump, in a speech at the UN General Assembly, warned Germany that relying on Russian gas could prove catastrophic and dangerous to its security. The response at the time from the German delegation was… to laugh.

Yes, the Germans guffawed as Trump praised Poland for seeking alternative energy suppliers. Today they probably won’t find it so funny.

Last week Russia cut off gas supplies to Europe amid tensions over its invasion of Ukraine. The hardest hit is European citizens, who for years let their politicians bow at Putin’s feet and are now entirely at his mercy.

Now, Germany and other European countries are scrambling for energy sources, and citizens are paying exorbitant electricity prices. According to Energy News, they are now paying 153% more. To top it off, countries as advanced as Spain order air conditioners in public offices to be turned off and thermostats to be regulated to “save energy.”

For years Trump warned about the dangers of heavily relying on Putin. Yet, the only news the international press reported was that Trump was in cahoots with the Russian, that “Orange Man Bad,” that the tweets were cruel, and they ignored the former president’s warnings.

I guess Germans who mocked him so much today will not think it is so funny to have their country subjected to such an extreme situation.

If Trump had been listened to at the UN, we would probably not have a war in Ukraine today because Russia would not have dared to invade its neighbor without having half of Europe by the throat with its energy. But I insist that the European progressive press and political apparatus only said “Orange Man Bad.” That slogan they will keep repeating, even if ignoring their warnings, will lead to mass starvation or complete submission to the tyrannies of China and Russia.

SEPTEMBER 2, 2022

Germany isn't panicking
A recent study published by the Universities of Bonn and Cologne found that Germany could handle even a complete, immediate stop to Russian gas supplies and get through the winter. That view is shared by German economics minister Robert Habeck.

Despite significantly lower volumes from Russia, "we have made better progress in filling the storage facilities than the law requires," Habeck said Monday.

Currently, German gas storage facilities are almost 84% full. In comparison, last year's peak storage level was 72%, on November 1, compared with 99% on that date in 2019.

According to the German government, if the tanks were filled to 100% capacity, the storage volume alone could meet the country's gas needs through two to three months of average winter weather.

Even before it ceased deliveries this week Russia was routing only about 20% of the maximum possible volume through the NS1 pipeline. Moscow has justified the limited flow by claiming that a repaired turbine, manufactured by Germany's Siemens Energy, could not be delivered due to sanctions imposed over the Ukraine war. Germany disputes that pretext and considers Russia's limited shipments political retribution for the international community's sanctions.

Purchases of Russian gas have already fallen significantly.

Before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, Germany relied on Russia for 55% of its gas supplies. In August, however___
that proportion fell to 9.5%, according to a spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Economics.

9-25-2022

Olaf Scholz culminated a two-day trip to the Persian Gulf region by
signing a gas deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday.

Amid Russia's halt in gas deliveries to Germany and skyrocketing energy prices in Europe, Scholz traveled to the region to secure alternative supplies for his country's energy-hungry economy.

His trip came as France's TotalEnergies announced a big deal with Qatar on Saturday, under which the French energy giant will invest in the exploration of a new gas field for exports of liquified natural gas (LNG) and will take a 9.4 percent share of the project.

During a stopover in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning, Scholz signed a contract for delivering 137,000 cubic meters of LNG, which is supposed to arrive in northern Germany at the end of this year, according to German energy provider RWE.

The delivery will thus likely come in time to help Europe's largest economy to overcome a gas scarcity this winter and deal with the fallout of what Scholz has described as Russian energy "blackmail."

The UAE deal, which also includes additional LNG deliveries in the coming years, comes at a fixed price and is therefore more advantageous. Scholz recently said that his country "will come through this winter."

The gas deal is part of a broader "Energy Security and Industry Accelerator Agreement" between Germany and the UAE, which "will enable the swift implementation of strategic lighthouse projects on the focus areas of renewable energies, hydrogen, LNG and climate action," Scholz said.

The chancellor, who is accompanied by a business delegation, also signed a deal for the supply of 33,000 tons of diesel to Germany this month, and further monthly diesel supplies of up to 250,000 tons.

Scholz will continue to Qatar later on Sunday for additional energy talks before heading back to Berlin early Monday.

On Saturday, Scholz paid a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to talk about a variety of business issues, including German investments in the future production of green hydrogen in the Arab country. Both leaders also discussed Russia's war in Ukraine, over which Scholz sought to convince bin Salman to take a harder line toward Moscow, and the war in Yemen.

Well, let's take another look-
Putin cut off his nose to spite his face uuumm Germany-
You see;
Putin made a crazy HUGE amount of money from Germany by selling them oil..
So-- no more money from Germany no crazy HUGE amount of money for Putin.
And also; now 3 other countries are going to cut the Putin oil cord, no more money for Putin.
I believe that's called karma--

If BASF in Germany shuts down after a 50% or less reduction in Russian gas flows
« on: Today at 05:59:39 AM »

They don't know if they can restart the operations since it all has run 24/7 for over 60 years.

BASF does everything for chemicals and industry around the world.

Our world's are about to get crazy even if we don't live anywhere close to Europe....

Europe investigates 'attacks' on Russian gas pipelines to Europe
By Anna Ringstrom and Stine Jacobsen, September 27, 2022 2:33 PM MDT

STOCKHOLM/COPENHAGEN, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Europe was investigating on Tuesday what Germany, Denmark and Sweden said were attacks which had caused major leaks into the Baltic Sea from two Russian gas pipelines at the centre of an energy standoff.

But it remained far from clear who might be behind the leaks that were first reported on Monday or any foul play, if proven, on the Nord Stream pipelines that Russia and European partners spent billions of dollars building.

German Economy Minister Robert Habeck told business leaders the leaks were due to targeted attacks on the infrastructure and Berlin now knew for sure "that they were not caused by natural occurrences or events or material fatigue."

Sweden's and Denmark's prime ministers said the leaks were clearly caused by deliberate actions, with information suggesting likely sabotage, while Poland's premier blamed sabotage, without citing evidence.

Russia, which slashed gas deliveries to Europe after the West imposed sanctions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, also said sabotage was a possibility and that the leaks undermined the continent's energy security.

A senior Ukrainian official called the incident a Russian attack to destabilise Europe, without giving proof.

"We see clearly that it's an act of sabotage, related to the next step of escalation of the situation in Ukraine," Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at the opening of a new pipeline between Norway and Poland.

Sweden's Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson told a news conference that two blasts had been detected in relation to the leaks and though this did not represent an attack on Sweden, her government was in close contact with partners such as NATO and neighbours such as Denmark and Germany concerning the developments.

Seismologists in Denmark and Sweden said they had registered two powerful blasts on Monday in the vicinity of the leaks.

"The signals do not resemble signals from earthquakes. They do resemble the signals typically recorded from blasts," the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) said.

And seismologists at Sweden's Uppsala University, which cooperates with GEUS, said the second, bigger explosion "corresponded to more than 100 kilos (kg) of dynamite", adding the blasts were in the water not under the seabed.

The Nord Stream pipelines have been flashpoints in an escalating energy war between capitals in Europe and Moscow that has damaged major Western economies, sent gas prices soaring and sparked a hunt for alternative supplies.

"Germany is a country that knows how to defend itself. And Europe is a continent that can protect its energy infrastructure," Germany's Habeck said, adding the energy supply of Europe's largest economy was not affected.

Denmark's armed forces said the largest gas leak had caused a surface disturbance of well over 1 km (0.6 mile) in diameter.

The leaks were very large and it could take perhaps a week for gas to stop draining out of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, the head of Denmark's Energy Agency Kristoffer Bottzauw said.

Ships could lose buoyancy if they entered the area.

"The sea surface is full of methane, which means there is an increased risk of explosions in the area," Bottzauw said.

The Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA) said two leaks on Nord Stream 1, one in the Swedish economic zone and another in the Danish zone, were northeast of Denmark's Bornholm.

"We are keeping extra watch to make sure no ship comes too close to the site," an SMA spokesperson said.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called it "very concerning news. Indeed, we are talking about some damage of an unclear nature to the pipeline in Denmark's economic zone." He said it affected the continent's energy security.

Neither pipeline was pumping gas to Europe at the time the leaks were found, but the incidents will scupper any remaining expectations that Europe could receive fuel via Nord Stream 1 before winter.

Operator Nord Stream said the damage was "unprecedented."

Gazprom (GAZP.MM), the Kremlin-controlled company with a monopoly on Russian gas exports by pipeline, declined comment.

"There are some indications that it is deliberate damage," said a European security source, adding it was still too early to draw conclusions. "You have to ask: Who would profit?"

Norway, meanwhile, said it will strengthen security at its oil and gas installations in the wake of leaks and reports of drone activities in the North Sea, Energy Minister Terje Aasland said in a statement.

Authorities in Denmark asked that the level of preparedness in its power and gas sector be raised, a step that would require heightened safety for power installations and facilities.

CUTTING SUPPLIES
Russia reduced gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream 1 before suspending flows altogether in August, blaming Western sanctions for causing technical difficulties. European politicians say that was a pretext to stop supplying gas.

The new Nord Stream 2 pipeline had yet to enter commercial operations. The plan to use it to supply gas was scrapped by Germany days before Russia sent troops into Ukraine, in what Moscow calls a "special military operation," in February.

"The multiple undersea leaks mean neither pipeline will likely deliver any gas to the EU over the coming winter, irrespective of political developments in the Ukraine war," Eurasia Group wrote in a note.

European gas prices rose on the news, with the benchmark October Dutch price climbing almost 10% on Tuesday. Prices are still below this year's peaks but remain more than 200% higher than in early September 2021.

PostSubject: The Nord Stream Pipeline   Germany Mocked Trump for Warning About Dependence on Russian Energy... EmptyWed Sep 28, 2022 11:04 pm

8-28-2022

Nord Stream pipelines were sabotaged, and the best suspect is the nation that sabotaged them before. Is Russia.

the Danish Energy Agency reports that most of the gas is already depleted as the damaged pipeline fills with seawater.

Almost immediately, U.S. intelligence agencies indicated that this was likely an act of sabotage. On Tuesday, Sweden revealed that seismographs in the area had detected a pair of disturbances that are now thought to be explosions.
The E.U. joined the U.S. on Wednesday in calling what happened “the result of a deliberate act.”

Naturally, pro-Russian sources—including right-wing media in the United States—has a suspect. They are pushing a series of clips and statements suggesting that America did it.

But the best suspect for who took down Russia’s gas pipeline to Europe is the same nation who constantly sabotaged that pipeline in the past. Which is Russia.

Suspect for who might have wanted to take out the two pipelines. Not surprisingly, it’s the same nation that Carlson spends the majority of his video absolving from any possibility of having done it. It’s Russia.

Why would Russia be a good candidate for taking down its own pipeline? Because they’ve done it before.

In May, Russia blamed technical issues for an outage on the pipeline that lasted for a week. In June, a reported turbine failure dropped gas through the pipeline by 75%.

There has long been a period of annual maintenance on the pipeline. However, this year, Russia declared a second, unscheduled outage that was directly connected to the efforts of Germany and others to cut their dependence on Russian gas. That took the pipeline down for another ten days in July.

Then in August, Russia shut down the pipeline again just as European countries were beginning to fill the storage facilities
they would need for the winter. It has not operated at over 20% capacity since then, due to what Russia claimed was “faulty equipment.”
____Russia also claimed they had hired German engineering firm Siemens to fix the problem. Seimens denied knowing anything about it.

At the beginning of September, the pipeline was completely offline again. There was no doubt about why Russia did this. Russian media, and pro-Russian social media, spent weeks rubbing their hands over thoughts of Germans and Poles “freezing in the dark” without their previous Russian gas.

Russian television openly speculated on how this would crash German’s economy, bring an end to the German auto industry, and most of all, cause Europeans to regret ever having back Ukraine in combatting Russia’s illegal invasion.

Only, when it got around to the start of September, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that, while supplies of gas might get “tight,” it looked as if Germany would make it through the winter just fine without Russian gas.

Scholz was just one of many European leaders who followed up by saying they would make it fine without Russia. E.U. economic commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said that the whole of Europe was “well prepared to resist Russia’s extreme use of the gas weapon.” And all that was before the new Baltic pipeline bringing gas from Norway and Denmark to eastern Europe opened this month.

Nord Stream 2 never operated. By the first week of September, it was clear that, despite Russia’s many, many attempts to cripple European nations (and manipulate market prices) by withholding gas, it had played all its cards. Nord Stream 1 was worthless. On Sept. 4, Russia actually shut down the pipeline “indefinitely.”

How much money was Russia making from these pipelines? Nothing. How much leverage did they give it over Europe? None.

Nord Stream 2 was never going to pump a foot of gas. Nord Stream 1’s value had diminished to where it was never going to have real value again, even if the war ended today. Or you can believe Russia, and it was so decrepit they couldn’t keep it operating anyway.

What it comes down to is simply this: The only nation that might potentially gain from blowing up these pipelines is the one most likely to exploit it for both casus belli and for one last poke to bring up the price of gas.

And European leaders seem to get that.

European Union leaders said the apparent attack on two key pipelines in the Baltic Sea showed that the energy conflict between Russia and Europe had entered a potentially dangerous phase and vowed retaliation if evidence emerges that the Kremlin was behind what they believe was an unprecedented act of sabotage.

They have little doubt about who actually pressed this button.

Five European officials with direct knowledge of security discussions said there was a widespread assumption that Russia was behind the incident. Only Russia had the motivation, the submersible equipment and the capability, several of them said, though they cautioned that they did not yet have direct evidence of Russia’s involvement.

That direct evidence is very likely to be found.

Biden did have an insidious way of bringing Russia’s multi-billion dollar pipeline project to a halt.
He used … diplomacy.
Back on Feb. 22, as the U.S. issued fresh warnings and Russian tanks gathered on the border, Germany suspended the completion of Nord Stream 2.
The next day, Germany officially halted all construction.

*** In May, a month before the U.S. issued its warning to European allies, including Germany, NBC news noted that the pipeline was-
____“unused and abandoned.”___
Industry analysts reported that they “never” expected the pipeline to be commissioned,
and senior officials noted that there was
“no other use” anticipated.***

____President Biden declared there would be no Nord Stream 2, and there was no Nord Stream 2.
Not a single bomb was required._____

So that’s the case against the United States.
They warned that the pipelines were vulnerable, and Biden said Nord Stream 2 would be gone if Russia invaded.

Tucker Carlson is trying to parlay this into a serious case against the United States, and in particular, into a claim that Biden has taken us down the path to, of course, inevitable nuclear holocaust. Because no right-wing conspiracy is complete without a good apocalypse.

((((( trump tried to stop the pipeline from being built is apparently all forgotten now.)))
