Lauren Boebert’s husband did jail time for 'lewd exposure' .
Jayson Steven Boebert, the husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., has complicated his wife's political career recently, after reports that the right-wing congresswoman failed to disclose Jayson's highly-paid work in the natural gas industry while she was serving on the House Natural Resources Committee, which directly oversees regulation of that business.
It appears that might not be the only thing about Jayson that Rep. Boebert doesn't want the public to know. In January 2004, when Jayson Boebert was 24, he was arrested for exposing himself to two young women at a Colorado bowling alley. His future wife Lauren Roberts (as she was then known), who was 17 at the time, was also present and was told she was no longer welcome at the bowling alley.
Jayson Boebert pled guilty to "public indecency and lewd exposure" after that incident, according to The New York Post, and was sentenced to four days in jail with a subsequent two years on probation.
Salon has obtained a witness statement written at the time by Erica Anne Coombs, one of the two young women involved in the bowling alley incident, who still lives in Lauren Boebert's congressional district.
Coombs wrote that after harassing a third person identified as Nora, Jayson Boebert told Coombs and another young woman, identified as Trisha Walies, that he had a tattoo on his penis.
"Trish and I were standing at the snack bar, and she came up and looked at my tattoo on my back, and she pulled down her sock and said, 'look, my is fading,'" she wrote. (The word "tattoo" may have been omitted.) "Then Jayson said 'I have a tattoo on my dick.'"
Not long after that incident, Jayson Boebert found himself in trouble with the law again after a domestic violence incident (which has already been widely publicized) involving Lauren Roberts, his then-girlfriend and future wife.
In February 2004, Jayson Boebert was arrested and charged with harassing and physically assaulting Lauren, and was convicted on those charges in November.
He "did unlawfully strike, shove or kick ... and subjected her to physical contact," a Garfield County court clerk spokesman told The New York Post in January of 2021. Lauren Roberts had her first child later that year; it is unclear whether she was pregnant at the time of the assault.
In March, Rep. Boebert voted against the Violence Against Women Act, saying she was opposed to the bill because it would secure abortion rights and tweeting, "This expired amendment should be thrown out like rotten milk."
Jayson and Lauren Boebert were married in June of 2007, after Jayson had concluded his probation for the lewd exposure conviction. Lauren Boebert has said that she and her husband have similar views on the role of government in citizens' lives because they both grew up on the welfare system.
In 2021, as Lauren Boebert was sworn in as a member of the 117th Congress, Jayson Boebert stood shoulder to shoulder with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Rep. Boebert's most recent financial disclosure forms suggest that Jayson stands to earn nearly $800,000 this year as a gas-drilling consultant for the firm Terra Energy. Those facts, and the apparent conflict of interest they represent, were not mentioned in Boebert's earlier disclosures.

GOP’s Lauren Boebert placed in Democrat’s district in Colorado election-map proposal: reports Dom Calicchio Sat, September 4, 2021, 11:28 PM
A proposed redrawing of Colorado’s congressional districts places the residence of Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert within the district of a Democratic congressman, according to reports.
If the proposal is ultimately approved, it means Boebert could opt to run in a more heavily Democratic district if she seeks reelection in 2022, FOX 31 of Denver reported.
Boebert, 34, was elected in November 2020 to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, but the newly proposed map places her home in the 2nd District, which is represented by U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse.
Neguse, 37, has been serving in Congress since 2019. He was among the House Democrats who helped manage the second impeachment of former President Donald Trump.
After the proposed redistricting map was released, Neguse immediately used the prospect of a run against Boebert as a chance to seek campaign donations.
"So, if the redistricting map released tonight holds," Neguse wrote on Twitter on Friday, "looks like I may be running for re-election against … Lauren Boebert."
The U.S. Constitution, however, does not require House members to live in the same district they represent. They only need to live in the same state they represent. So Boebert could decide to run again in the 3rd District.
Boebert did not appear to immediately address the proposed map changes in her social media comments over the weekend.
The congresswoman has been a relentless critic of the Biden administration as well as a vocal advocate of Second Amendment gun ownership rights and other conservative issues.
The state’s nonpartisan redistricting commission’s redrawing of congressional districts was prompted by the release of 2020 U.S. Census data, the Denver Post reported. That data granted Colorado an eighth congressional seat starting in 2022, up from the seven it had had.
Changes in the number of congressional seats allotted to states are determined by U.S. population shifts that are tracked by the Census.
Now that the state panel has issued a redistricting plan, it will hold a series of hearings during the next few weeks to debate the plan and collect suggestions for possible changes, the report said.
The proposed map is drawn so that four existing Democratic-leaning districts would be likely to remain in Democratic control and three Republican-leaning districts would be likely to remain in GOP control, the Post reported.
The new eighth district, running north of Denver, from Adams County to Greeley, has been drawn to be a relative swing district, with Democratic voters outnumbering Republicans by only 1.9 percentage points in last year’s U.S. Senate election, according to the Post.

Colorado Newspaper Apologizes For The Embarrassment That Is Boebert With Stinging Op-Ed.
The Denver Post editorial board slammed the conspiracy theory-endorsing Colorado Republican as "clearly incapable of remorse or reflection.".
The Denver Post editorial board did what Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) has so far refused to do and offered a sincere apology to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
The newspaper has “mostly tried to ignore” conspiracy theory-endorsing Boebert’s antics since she was elected to Congress in 2020 because “they add little to the public discourse,” it wrote in a stinging editorial Monday.
But the Donald Trump acolyte’s recent Islamophobic attacks on Omar — and her subsequent non-apology to her fellow congresswoman — had “crossed a line,” it said. The board was “embarrassed a Colorado representative is engaged in widening” divisions in the country.
Omar “deserved nothing short of a full apology” but Boebert “is clearly incapable of remorse or reflection, so as her fellow Coloradans — a beautiful place of tolerance and respect, diversity and freedom — we will help her, the board wrote.
“We apologize to the Congresswoman and to the Muslim community for Boebert’s insensitive remarks. Such remarks, no matter how innocently intended, have no place in American discourse.”

Lauren Boebert berated by local TV broadcaster after debate 'embarrassment'.
Local Colorado broadcasters addressed local congresswoman Lauren Boebert, who is up for reelection, along with her colleagues. But those back home take issue with how bad she's making their state look.
Republican analyst Michael Fields attacked the moderator at the recent debate with Boebert and claimed that it didn't matter because she would be reelected anyway.
"Literally the only argument that Michael has is that we should have better moderators," Democratic strategist Andy Boian shot back. She's a joke. This whole reality that she's mocking her congressional seat. She's a United States Congresswoman. And to act like that is an embarrassment to Colorado. It's an embarrassment to the third [congressional district]. It's an embarrassment to the country. She's a joke."
Boebert appeared at a debate last Sunday, where she constantly spoke about Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Finally, her opponent, Adam Frisch had to cut in and remind her that his name was Adam, not Nancy. When she finally got around to attacking her opponent, she complained about the inner workings of the Aspen city government.
After the debate, Frisch told the Aspen Daily News on Sunday that Boebert is "fishing hard” and “inner workings of Aspen city government” aren't big on the district's concerns.

American Muckrakers PAC alleges Boebert worked as an unlicensed paid escort and met clients through a website called SugarDaddyMeet.com.
NEWSWEEK SUBSCRIPTION OFFERS > "According to our investigation, Boebert was hired by a wealthy male client in Aspen, Colorado, who was a Koch family member. Boebert's rich client subsequently introduced her to U.S. Senator [Ted] Cruz to run for political office," a press release from the PAC read.
The group also accused Boebert of taking at least $136,250 from Senator Cruz for her campaign for Congress announced in 2019, and failing to disclose a $70,500 donation noted in Cruz's Federal Election Commission filings.
The PAC said Boebert has had two abortions, one of which was at Planned Parenthood—
"Boebert had an abortion at a clinic in Grand Junction, Colorado, sometime in 2004 or 2005 when she was approximately eighteen years old. It is not known whether this abortion was related to SugarDaddyMeet.com clients or someone else," said the PAC.
"Then Boebert, twenty-three at the time, had an abortion in 2009 at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 'due to her work with a SugarDaddyMeet.com client.'"

Lauren Boebert’s Democratic challenger tears apart her anti-veterans voting record.
Far-right Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado has claimed to be very supportive of the United States’ military veterans. But Adam Frisch, the Democrat who is running against Boebert in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, is attacking her for failing to support bills in Congress that would benefit veterans.
On Twitter, Boebert posted, “I voted for four pro-veteran bills that were signed into law and led several amendments to provide funding for mental health and other important services for our veterans.”
But Frisch, responding in a Twitter thread on September 24, countered, “Lauren Boebert is no friend of Veterans. I will protect their interests once in Washington.”
Frisch went on to slam Boebert for some of her votes, tweeting_
“Lauren Boebert voted AGAINST the PACT act that gives Vets exposed to burn pits access to VA healthcare.
Lauren Boebert voted AGAINST providing training that protects Vets and VA staff.”
“Lauren Boebert voted AGAINST streamlining access for Vets to their own records….
Lauren Boebert voted AGAINST making education assistance more accessible for Vets….
Lauren Boebert voted AGAINST an act that would have made enrollment into the VA enrollment system automatic for Vets.”
A poll released by Mr. Frisch in August showed him within single digits of his opponent, a margin not unexpected for the district which is rated R+6 by the Cook Political Report.

Lauren Boebert sued for libel by American Muckrakers PAC.
A Democratic-aligned political action committee that has hounded incumbent Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Silt as she seeks reelection sued the congresswoman this week for defamation, alleging she made damaging statements about the committee to national media and other figures.
American Muckrakers — which made dramatic claims about Boebert’s past in the lead-up to the Republican primary in June, many of which included false details — and its founder David Wheeler filed the civil suit in North Carolina on Wednesday.
“We look forward to seeing Boebert in a North Carolina court room and a conference room for a deposition,” Wheeler said in a statement.
The lawsuit alleges that Boebert defamed the organization after it published its allegations against her and that she obtained a temporary restraining order against Wheeler through malicious prosecution. Those actions allegedly hurt the reputation and finances of the PAC and Wheeler.
In June, American Muckrakers claimed that Boebert, one of the most conservative members of Congress, of having two abortions and previously being an escort. Wheeler got that information from a variety of sources through unrecorded phone calls, in person meetings, text messages, emails and Twitter messages, according to the lawsuit, and had “no reason to believe the Sources’ information was false.”
Shortly after, Boebert responded to the allegation and told Sean Hannity on his Fox News show that there was no evidence for the claims and that Wheeler knew the claim was false when he published it. She called Wheeler a “hack” and said she would pursue legal action against him, which she never did.
She made similar comments to a reporter with the conservative newspaper the Washington Examiner, to conservative commentator Tomi Lahren and in an official statement.
The lawsuit claims that Boebert made those incorrect statements with the intent to damage the reputation of American Muckrakers.
After Boebert’s comments, the committee’s revenue took a free fall, the lawsuit says, dropping from an average of about $20,000 per month to less than $1,300 per month.
The loss in revenue affected Wheeler personally, as his “sole source of income” is from American Muckrakers.
The committee has raised about $241,000 and spent nearly all of that in its efforts.
Wheeler is seeking damages in excess of $25,000 each for claims of libel, slander and malicious prosecution, as well as seeking punitive damages.
Boebert’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

... So this guy claims (publically) that the woman is a whore and has had two abortions. Then complains the woman damaged his reputation by calling him a "hack"... Sounds pretty hypocritical, since his accusations are made specifically to damage her reputation
Quote :
She called Wheeler a “hack” and said she would pursue legal action against him, which she never did.
So obviously she denies the accusations..and apparently he has no proof to support them... Being *told* by another person or persons via phone, email, twitter or whatever, is not proof or evidence, but more like rumor or gossip, and to relay it to the public, it's not far fetched to consider him a "hack"
(-snip-) Complaining about loss of revenue .. That will happen when you publically spread accusations/rumors with no proof
Quote :
Wheeler is seeking damages in excess of $25,000 each for claims of libel, slander and malicious prosecution, as well as seeking punitive damages.
It clearly says she didn't take any legal action... How can he claim "malicious prosecution" when he wasn't prosecuted? He slanders Boebert, she calls him a hack, so he sues her for slander..heh ..makes sense, huh?.. SMH

A former Republican rival to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) has penned a new op-ed while endorsing the lawmaker's current Democratic rival.
In an op-ed published by the Montrose Daily Press, state Sen. Don Coram (R-Colo.) —who challenged Boebert in the state's primary election— offered a blistering assessment of the far-right lawmaker.
According to Coram, the Colorado lawmaker “spends her time jet-setting around the country promoting herself and extreme rhetoric that only divides this country further,” wrote Coram. “It’s disgraceful and we should expect more from our United States representative.”
Coram also urged voters to throw their support behind former Aspen City Councilmember Adam Frisch in November's race which is expected to be a relatively close election.
While he did admit that their political preferences differ from Frisch's, he still believes he is the better candidate. “Naturally, Adam and I differ on various policies and issues," he wrote. "However, I know that he is the type of person who will come to the table and have a conversation. That is what we should expect from our representative.
Noting some of the aspiring lawmaker's strong attributes, Coram lauded Frisch personally and professionally. “I believe Adam Frisch is a good man," he wrote.
"I have had the opportunity to visit with him and get to know him better over the last few months, I know him to be decent, honest, and persistent," he added. "He has demonstrated that he is more interested in representing the district than being a celebrity. That’s important."
Coram also included a clear message to voters. "Let’s elect someone who cares about representing the majority of people in the middle that are fed up with extreme partisanship and juvenile antics," he wrote.

Denver Post begs readers to reject Lauren Boebert — and lists many reasons why.
Controversial first-term GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert was the focus of a hard-hitting editorial board by The Denver Post.
"We beg voters in western and southern Colorado not to give Rep. Lauren Boebert their vote," the editorial board "Boebert has not represented the 3rd Congressional District well. Almost exclusively, she has spent her time and efforts contributing to the toxic political environment in this nation."
The newspaper contrasted the congresswoman with the people she represents.
"The good people in this district are not angry and abrasive; they are not hateful and caustic; they do not boast of their own prowess or sling insults as entertainment.
The ranchers we know working the Uncompaghre Plateau, the teachers in Durango, the steel mill workers in Pueblo, and the farmers setting down roots in the San Louis Valley keep to themselves, watch their families grow, and pray for better days," the newspaper wrote. "Boebert’s unproductive approach, combined with the efforts of others, has helped erode Congress’ ability to honestly debate public policy that could help people in her district."
The newspaper endorsed Democrat Adam Frisch and said Boebert lacked the nuance to understand the dynamics of oil and gas drilling on public lands.
"In her primary, Boebert called a man born and raised in Montrose County a groomer – a term for a gay man who sexually abuses children," the newspaper noted.
"The remark, directed at Don Coram, a conservative Republican and rancher whose son happens to be gay, is just one example of Boebert’s casual yet crass cruelty, which she puts on display on a daily basis while in Washington, D.C. Does she feel no remorse for this behavior?
She told a joke, more than once, implying that a Muslim member of Congress was a terrorist bomber. She uses the derogatory term 'jihad squad' to reference other members of Congress. This is not what Western Colorado or Southern Colorado stands for."
The newspaper said Boebert had embraced the "Three Percenters" militia group.
"The group draws its names from the fable that only 3% of the population of the original colonies fought in the Revolutionary War and the misguided belief that this country is headed for another fight for liberation for which they must prepare to fight – often amassing weapons caches and making bombs," the newspaper wrote.
"Members of the group have been implicated in several violent plots – a planned bombing of a mosque in Minnesota, an FBI-foiled bombing attempt of a bank in Oklahoma, and the kidnapping plot of Michigan’s governor. And, of course, the Jan. 6, 2020, attempt to storm the U.S. Capitol and prevent Congress from seating the duly elected next president of the United States."
The editorial board said it grieves that Boebert represents Colorado in Congress.
"Rejecting all Boebert has come to represent – angry rants without offering real solutions — i s important for the 3rd Congressional District, Colorado and this great nation," The Denver Post wrote. "Frisch is a solid candidate who will stand in for the district in an honorable way."

'GOP defectors' in Lauren Boebert's district refused to vote for 'extremists and election deniers'.
So-called Republican "defectors" refused to vote for Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) because she is an extremist and an election denier, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
After nearly a week of vote counting, Boebert had not been named winner in the surprisingly close Colorado race against Democrat Adam Frisch.
"I'd like to vote for a Republican, but I'm not going to vote for these extremists and election deniers," local resident Bill Heller told the paper.
Heller, a Republican, said he had become increasingly concerned about democracy, climate change, free trade and Ukraine.
"You can't even mention her name in a restaurant because 50% of people start screaming and 50% start applauding," Boebert supporter Chris Brown said.
The Journal argued that Boebert's close race was a sign that voters were tired of former President Donald Trump.
"Though most political analysts expect Ms. Boebert will prevail, Mr. Frisch's strong showing is a sign that some Republican voters are losing interest in candidates who have closely allied with Mr. Trump and practice his style of politics," the paper pointed out.
Boebert spokesperson Benjamin Stout accused Frisch of stealing the congresswoman's platform.
"He just copped her policies and ran on them," Stout complained.
Experts expect Boebert to win in the race eventually, the Journal reported.

Lauren Boebert's Democratic Challenger Concedes in Shockingly Tight Colorado House Race Kyler Alvord |People Fri, November 18, 2022 at 11:44 AM
Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert will get a second term in office, after her Democratic challenger put up an unexpectedly tough fight to unseat the controversial Republican after just one term.
On Friday Adam Frisch, a former Aspen city councilman, announced that he'd called Boebert to concede in one of the final House races in the country to be called. At the time of his concession, he sat only 551 votes behind Boebert, close enough to trigger an automatic recount according to Colorado state law.
"I'm tremendously thankful for the love and support that came from every corner of our district, and from across our nation," Frisch said in a livestream, before accepting his loss. "Please know that in the coming weeks, I will pause and reflect on this race, how I can continue to work for the people of western and southern Colorado, and this great nation."
Boebert, 35, and Frisch, 55, faced off in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District. For the first couple of days that votes were being counted, it appeared that Frisch had the upper hand, leading Boebert in a race that she was projected to win with 97% certainty by election forecaster FiveThirtyEight.
The Republican incumbent — a provocative right-winger in the mold of former President Donald Trump — eventually surpassed Frisch, finishing 0.16% ahead of him.
Though Frisch conceded, he shared some strong words about what he hopes his campaign can show Boebert.
"Our great country must get back to normalcy. I heard time and time again on the campaign trail: America is tired of the circus. Tired of the lack of respect for our institutions and our democracy. And tired of the lack of civility and our discourse," he said. "Most importantly, folks in western and southern Colorado are tired of the lack of a serious representative, of having representation that is more interested in self-promotion through the anger-tainment industry."
First elected to Congress in 2020, Boebert won the Republican primary in her western Colorado district in June.
The lawmaker's freshman term has been checkered with controversy that Boebert herself courted. Earlier this year, she called a Republican primary challenger a "groomer," a term for a person who sexually abuses children.
She feuded last year with Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, about whom she has made racist comments, calling her a member of "the jihad squad" and accusing her of "praising terrorists."
Boebert was also accused of meeting with organizers of pro-Trump rallies on Jan. 6, 2021. She has denied any involvement in the violent riot that followed, though her tweets during the attack — "Today is 1776," one said, while another indicated House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's whereabouts — have been criticized.
A fervent gun advocate who vowed in a political ad to carry a weapon to work in Congress, Boebert reportedly got into a standoff with Capitol Police when she refused to allow officers to search her bag after setting off metal detectors just days after the insurrection.
The editorial board of Boebert's state newspaper of record, The Denver Post, offered a blisteringly critical assessment of her tenure, imploring voters in a recent op-ed not to vote for the incumbent congresswoman this year.
The board wrote that Boebert "has not represented the 3rd Congressional District well. Almost exclusively, she has spent her time and efforts contributing to the toxic political environment in this nation."
The editorial continued: "Boebert's unproductive approach, combined with the efforts of others, has helped erode Congress' ability to honestly debate public policy that could help people in her district."
The paper also detailed another controversy facing Boebert: that she has "opposed every effort to protect public lands in the district" while also failing to disclose in a timely manner that her husband "made almost $1 million as a consultant for the largest drilling company in the 3rd Congressional district.

Recount ordered in tight Boebert, Frisch House race in Colorado Chloe Folmar | TheHill Fri, December 2, 2022 at 6:25 AM
Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) ordered a mandatory recount in the state’s third district on Wednesday after a razor-thin midterm election race between incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) and her challenger Adam Frisch (D).
The secretary’s office officially announced the recount, required because the vote differential between Boebert and Frisch is within 0.5 percent of the leading incumbent’s total portion of votes, this week despite large-scale expectations that it would occur.
Colorado law calls for a recount whenever the differential is within that small margin of the winner’s total vote.
Boebert won last month’s midterm election with 50.08 percent of the vote to Frisch’s 49.92 percent, with the Democrat conceding the race.
The Republican garnered 550 more votes than her challenger, a total of 163,842 to 163,292.
“The results of the District 3 race reinforce the fact that every vote matters,” Griswold said in a statement.
“Colorado voters have made their voices heard, and I am ordering this recount in accordance with Colorado law to confirm the will of the voters.”
All 27 counties in Colorado’s third district will recount ballots pursuant to state law in a process that is required to finish by Dec. 13.
Boebert declared her victory in the nationally-watched race on Nov. 17, maintaining that the mandatory recount would not change her slight winning margin.
“Come January, you can be certain of two things: I will be sworn in for my second term as your congresswoman and Republicans can finally turn Pelosi’s House back into the people’s House,” the close ally to former President Donald Trump said at the time, adding that her campaign team lawyers would “definitely” ensure that the recount is conducted properly.
Frisch, a former city councilman, conceded to the incumbent the next day, agreeing that the recount is unlikely to change the outcome of the race.
“While I am fully supportive of the recount process, based on the history of Colorado recounts, I could not, in good faith, perpetuate false hope that there is a good chance of the recount changing the outcome of this election,” wrote Frisch on Thursday following the secretary of state’s recount announcement.
“When I launched this campaign, I promised to run this race with integrity because that is who I am.”
