Televangelist who advised Trump turns on him — calls him a 'little elementary school child',
On Thursday, The Washington Post reported that a North Texas televangelist who served as a spiritual adviser to former President Donald Trump has had enough of him — and is condemning him in fiery speeches. "'If Mr. Trump can’t stop his little petty issues, how does he expect people to stop major issues?'
James Robison, the president of the Christian group Life Outreach International, said Wednesday night at a meeting of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL), a conservative political group that focuses on social issues."
"Members of the NACL pledge to advocate for antiabortion policies and to 'uphold the sanctity of marriage as a sacred union exclusively between one man and one woman,' among other commitments. Robison was receiving an award from the group Wednesday night when he made his remarks."
"Several minutes into his speech, Robison brought up Trump, recalling how the then-presidential nominee had courted his endorsement," said the report.
"In Robison’s retelling, Republican Ben Carson had supposedly told Trump that Robison would only endorse him if they spoke for an hour. Trump protested, saying he didn’t speak to anyone for more than 15 minutes. The two ended up speaking for an hour and a half, Robison said. After that, 'the man started calling me on his cellphone, and then he started asking me to call him,' Robison said" — and yet, he added, Trump often ignored his spiritual advice.
“Everything you wanted him to hear — every single thing you ever prayed for him to hear — came through these lips right straight into his face,” said Robison.
“And with the same force you’ve heard me talking to you, I spoke it to him____ ‘Sir, you act like a little elementary school child and you shoot yourself in the foot every morning you get up and open your mouth! The more you keep your mouth closed, the more successful you’re gonna be!’
Right-wing evangelicals were a core part of Trump's electoral coalition, sticking by him for years and defending him in the face of criticism of his morals.
Polls suggest that evangelical voters have completely reversed their position on whether or not a politician immoral in their private life can be a good leader in the years since Trump took office.
However, in recent years the political involvement of evangelical communities has put strain on the faith, with many believers — particularly people of color — shifting away from alignment with the right.

'Trump can’t save America — he can’t even save himself': Evangelical leader dumps Trump.
According to a report from the Huffington Post, some of the evangelical leaders who helped propel Donald Trump into the White House in 2016 and then supported him again in 2020 are now turning their backs on him after the midterms election debacle showed his influence has apparently waned.
The report shows, former Christian backers of Trump are not only expressing regret for supporting him, but also warning their followers_____ to keep their distance from his new bid.
One of them, speaking with the Washington Post, got right to the point as to the former president's effectiveness as a leader.
According to Mike Evans, a former member of Trump Evangelical advisory board. "All of us knew that Trump had character flaws, but we considered our relationship with him transactional. We wanted Supreme Court justices to overturn Roe v. Wade. We wanted his support of our biblical We all wanted his support for the State of Israel.''
However, he added, "Donald Trump can’t save America. He can’t even save himself. He used us to win the White House. We had to close our mouths and eyes when he said things that horrified us. I cannot do that anymore.”
The report adds that Robert Jeffress, a key face of Christian support for Trump also has left the Trump camp for greener pastures. “The Republican Party is headed toward a civil war that I have no desire or need to be part of.”
Another onetime faith adviser to Trump, James Robison of Life Outreach International, said in a speech this week that Trump’s ego is getting in the way of the agenda.
“If Mr. Trump can’t stop his little petty issues, how does he expect people to stop major issues?” Robison said, according to The Washington Post.
He said he told Trump: “Sir, you act like a little elementary schoolchild and you shoot yourself in the foot every morning you get up and open your mouth! The more you keep your mouth closed, the more successful you’re gonna be!”

Trump loses more funders as some of his biggest 2016 donors cut bait.
The far-right billionaire Mercer family were major funders of former President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, but they apparently won't be helping him out during his third run at the White House.
CNBC reports that "GOP megadonors Robert and Rebekah Mercer have no current plans to help... T rump’s 2024 campaign for the White House," even though they were major players in his initial rise to power.
The two are apparently also cutting back their political giving all together, and they join several former major Trump funders as distancing themselves from his new presidential ambitions.
"Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman, Citadel CEO Ken Griffin, wealthy New York businessman Andy Sabin and billionaire Ronald Lauder are among the wealthy GOP donors opting against helping Trump’s latest campaign — at least during the Republican primary," reports CNBC. "Some of the country’s wealthiest GOP donors do not believe Trump can win again, and have argued for a new face to represent their party in the race for president."
Trump has been widely blamed for costing the Republican Party multiple winnable races in the 2022 midterms after several of his hand-picked candidates -- including former Senate hopefuls Mehmet Oz and Blake Masters, as well as gubernatorial candidates Kari Lake and Tudor Dixon -- went down in flames.

Evangelicals enraged over Trump betrayal.
Evangelicals who supported former President Donald Trump's campaign and presidency are expressing apprehension about him as he embarks on his third presidential run.
According to HuffPost, many public evangelical figures have weighed in with their reactions to the former president's announcement — and it doesn't appear that many are buying into him making America great again.
Mike Evans, a religious figure who was among those who visited the White House to meet with Trump, recently shared his opinion during an interview with The Washington Post.
Evans made it clear that he is done with the former president.
“He used us to win the White House. We had to close our mouths and eyes when he said things that horrified us,” Evans told the newspaper. “I cannot do that anymore.”
Speaking to Newsweek, Robert Jeffress, who advised Trump during his 2016 presidential run, also admitted that he's distancing from the former president. “The Republican Party is headed toward a civil war that I have no desire or need to be part of,” Jeffress said.
On Wednesday, November 16, James Robison, the president of the Christian group Life Outreach International, attended a meeting for the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) where he expressed similar concerns.
“If Mr. Trump can’t stop his little petty issues, how does he expect people to stop major issues?” Robison said.
He also said he told the former president__ “Sir, you act like a little elementary schoolchild and you shoot yourself in the foot every morning you get up and open your mouth! The more you keep your mouth closed, the more successful you’re gonna be!”
Washington Times columnist Everett Piper also offered a critical assessment of the Republican Party's latest entanglement with Trump. “The take-home of this past week is simple: Donald Trump has to go,” Piper wrote. “If he‘s our nominee in 2024, we will get destroyed.”

| Subject: Trump Allies Turn On 'Lapdog' Hannity: Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:07 pm | |

Trump and his allies turn on 'lapdog' Hannity: Donald Trump's most fervent supporters are turning on Fox News host Sean Hannity.
Right-wing attorney Lin Wood and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell -- who have been feuding with one another -- are speaking out against the Fox News host's admission that he doesn't believe the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump, and Steve Bannon, right-wing radio host Stew Peters and reportedly even the former president himself have soured on Hannity, reported The Daily Beast.
“Sean Hannity is disgusting,” Lindell told the website. “He’s a terrible journalist that does not do his job or his diligence [on] election crime. He doesn’t seem to have any concern over any election problems in the country, and it’s disgusting."
Wood, who said he'd known Hannity since 1996 and considered him a friend, showed The Daily Beast screenshots from a text conversation they'd had where Hannity agreed the election had been stolen, but the Fox News star admitted in a deposition from the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit that he never believed that “for one second.”
Bannon and right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec have taken shots at Hannity in the past week, comparing him to CNN host Don Lemon and complaining about his "terrible advice to Trump," while Peters called him a "clown" and Trump superfan Bill Mitchell said his deposition should end his career.
“Hannity was his lapdog for years," said one Trump adviser, "but just like everyone else who’s been Trump’s bitch at one point or another, the second Trump finds a reason to throw them in the garbage, he takes it."
Trumpworld sources told The Daily Beast the former president was upset with Hannity for pushing him to endorse Mehmet Oz in the Pennsylvania Senate race, rather than blame his wife for making the same recommendation.
“Hannity gets the blame for Oz because it’s more convenient than blaming Melania, and now he’s been shown to be ‘disloyal’ under oath, so it’s Hannity’s turn to get tossed overboard,” said a Trump adviser.
Trump hasn't spoken to Hannity for some time, sources said, and his relationship has apparently soured with another influential Fox News host.
Tucker Carlson “isn’t openly hostile to Trump, but anyone who’s paying attention knows he’s not a fan either," said one Trump source. “Trump is never on the show and rarely gets discussed. Tucker thinks Trump has a lot of the right enemies, but that’s about it.” 'Throw him in the garbage'.
