Bud Light mocked for $20 rebate on $19.98 case of beer: ‘They’re giving it away’

A Bud Light seller apparently stuck with too many cases of the unsold brew in the wake of the company’s Dylan Mulvaney fiasco is offering $20 rebates on purchases of a $19.98 case of beer.

“Things can’t be going great if they’re basically giving it away,” Twitter user Ed Latimore wrote.



“You’re making two cents profit per case when you buy Bud Light,” another Twitter user observed.

“And there’s still plenty on the shelf. They can’t even give people money to take it off their hands!”

Sales of Bud Light, the nation’s perennial top-selling beer, have tanked following calls for a boycott of the Anheuser-Busch brand in the wake of its controversial partnership with the transgender influencer on April 1.

Nationwide retail sales of the brand were down 23.6% versus a year ago in the week ending May 6 — its fifth straight week of declines, according to Bump Williams Consulting and NielsenIQ data.
The controversy appears to be taking its toll on other brands within the Anheuser-Busch empire.

Those included Budweiser, down 9.7% versus an 11.4% drop a week earlier; Michelob Ultra, down 2.9% versus 4.3%; and Natural Light, down 2.5% versus 5.2% the previous week.

Meanwhile, rivals like Pabst Blue Ribbon have seen sales shoot up 21.6% in the week ended May 6 — slightly more than the 18.9% spike the previous week.

Another competitor, Miller High Life, gained 10.4% in sales compared to an 8.3% bump over the same time period the previous week, according to Bump Williams and Nielsen IQ data.

Twitter users mocked Bud Light for offering $20 rebates on purchases of cases that cost $19.98.

Conservatives have slammed Bud Light’s ad campaign, claiming the beer maker was pushing “gender propaganda.”

Country music singer John Rich said he pulled cases of Bud Light from his Nashville bar, Travis Tritt called for a boycott and rocker Kid Rock used several Bud Light cases for target practice in a viral video.

Others, like shock jock Howard Stern and podcaster Joe Rogan, have decried the conservative outrage over Mulvaney.

Transgender activist no longer welcome at White House after going topless at Biden event

WASHINGTON (AP) — Transgender advocate Rose Montoya is no longer welcome at White House events after posting on social media a video of herself and two others going topless for a time at Saturday's Pride Month celebration on the South Lawn.

“The behavior was simply unacceptable,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Tuesday. “It was unfair to the hundreds of attendees who were there to celebrate their families.”

Speaking at the White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre said, “Individuals in the video certainly will not be invited to future events." The White House spokeswoman said the bare-chested display “was not a normal thing that has happened under this administration.”

President Joe Biden hosted the event to show the administration's support of the LGBTQ+ community. There has recently been a push by some Republican leaders at the state level to restrict drag shows and limit the options for youth who are seeking to transition their genders.

Biden said Saturday that he had a message for the entire community, but especially for transgender children: “You are loved. You are heard. You’re understood. And you belong.”

Parts of his speech appeared in the video posted on social media by Montoya, whose Instagram biography identifies her as an educator, model and actor.

Montoya defended her post on Instagram and Twitter, saying that “going topless in Washington, DC is legal and I fully support the movement in freeing the nipple.” She said critics of her toplessness affirmed that she is, in fact, a woman, as a man would not face similar pushback. She said she had “zero intention of trying to be vulgar or be profane in anyway," adding that she covered her nipples with her hands in the video “just to play it safe.”
