Attorney Says FBI ‘Utterly Failed’ to Investigate Jeffrey Epstein, Asks DOJ to Find Out Why

An attorney who is claiming that the FBI “utterly failed” to properly investigate the late billionaire financier and convicted underage sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein has asked the Justice Department to find out why.

A letter from the attorney, who is representing several women, was sent last week to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, stating that the FBI was aware of allegations against Epstein back in the 1990s but failed to take any significant action, the Daily Wire reported.

“As counsel to many survivors of the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking conspiracy, we write regarding the failure of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to properly, adequately, or timely investigate the sex trafficking of hundreds of girls and young women,” says the letter from lawyer Jennifer Freeman.

“The FBI utterly failed to investigate serious allegations involving Epstein’s, and perhaps others’, child sex abuse materials (CSAM), significant additional criminality which, until recently, has been disregarded, disrespected, and essentially denied,” it added.

“[I]n August of 1996 one of our clients, Maria Farmer, reported to the FBI that Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell had sexually abused her and that the two of them, together with others, were committing multiple, serious, sexual abuse crimes, including hands-on sexual abuse, against minors and vulnerable young women,” the letter continues. “In addition, she reported to the FBI that Epstein, and perhaps others, appeared to be engaged in the production, possession, and distribution of sexually suggestive or exploitative images of children that could constitute CSAM.”

“In 2005, child erotica was found in Epstein’s Palm Beach home. In approximately 2008, law enforcement “prematurely” truncated their investigation of Epstein’s computer hard drives, which had been suspiciously removed from his Palm Beach estate immediately before a police raid,” the letter continued, adding: “In 2019, more child erotica was found displayed in Epstein’s properties, with additional images located in his home safe.”

The women are seeking an explanation as to why it took so long for legal action to be taken against Epstein and have requested that the DOJ investigate the FBI’s handling of the case.

Meanwhile, a December 2021 report in the National Review noted that “Epstein visited the White House 17 times during former President Clinton’s first few years in office,” according to then-nearly discovered visitor logs.

The logs, obtained by the UK’s Daily Mail under a Freedom of Information Act request, also reveal that Epstein visited the White House 14 times over a two-year period between 1993 and 1995. On three occasions, he made two visits in a single day. The majority of these visits were to the West Wing, leading to speculation that he may have met with the President during these visits.

Epstein died in jail in 2019, believed to have committed suicide.

A month earlier, in November, CNN reported that “Epstein’s former pilot testified in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking trial…that a who’s who of powerful men, including former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, flew aboard Epstein’s private plane.”

Visoski said that he was usually given advance notice when high-profile passengers, like former President Clinton, would be flying with Epstein. He also recounted that Epstein flew with renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman to the Interlochen Center for the Arts summer camp and that he remembered other notable passengers on flights, such as Prince Andrew, Maine Sen. George Mitchell, Ohio Sen. John Glenn, and actor Kevin Spacey, CNN reported.

Newsweek noted in January that a documentary aired on the BBC that month claimed that Clinton and Epstein were “like brothers.”

British socialite Lady Victoria Hervey told the UK outlet how Clinton was “very close to Jeffrey” in “Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Pedophile,” broadcast in Britain on January 18.

“Clinton was definitely very close to Jeffrey. I don’t know if you saw the paintings that were in Jeffrey Epstein’s house?” Hervey said in the documentary. “One of them being a portrait of Bill Clinton wearing the dress that Monica Lewinsky wore when they had the affair.”

The CEO of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon sat for depositions related to a pair of lawsuits linked to regarding late financier and convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

His testimony came as the U.S. Virgin Islands and the banking giant traded allegations over who was the biggest enabler of Epstein’s sex trafficking of minor girls, Fox Business Network reported.

JPMorgan Chase said Dimon “stated in a deposition Friday that he never met or communicated with Epstein, who was the bank’s client from 2000 to 2013, Reuters reported. Epstein remained a JPMorgan client after pleading guilty in 2008 to a Florida state prostitution charge,” the outlet reported.

Dimon’s testimony was an important milestone in a lawsuit first filed by U.S. Virginia Islands Attorney General Denise George in December, where she alleged that JPMorgan “turned a blind eye to evidence of human trafficking over more than a decade because of Epstein’s own financial footprint, and because of the deals and clients that Epstein brought and promised to bring to the bank.”

The lawsuit claims JPMorgan “knowingly facilitated, sustained, and concealed the human trafficking network” operated by Epstein while also reaping financial benefits from their involvement. It alleges that the bank knowingly failed to comply with federal banking regulations in relation to Epstein’s activities, which were centered in the Virgin Islands, the outlet continued.

“These decisions were advocated and approved at the senior levels of JPMorgan, including by the former chief executive of its asset management division and investment bank, whose inappropriate relationship with Epstein should have been evident to the bank. Indeed, it was only after Epstein’s death that JPMorgan belatedly complied with federal banking regulations regarding Epstein’s accounts,” the complaint states, the outlet reported.

In its response to the litigation, JPMorgan asserted that it was actually the top officials of the U.S. Virgin Islands who had purportedly accepted monetary payments, favors, and influence from Epstein. The bank further claimed that those officials turned a blind eye to and facilitated Epstein’s sex trafficking operation in exchange for various benefits.

The bank claimed that Cecile de Jongh, the wife of former USVI Gov. John de Jongh, was Epstein’s “primary conduit for spreading money and influence throughout the USVI government,” adding that she “explicitly advised Epstein on how to buy control of the USVI political class.”

The bank’s filing also alleges that she had even sent an email to Epstein, seeking his input on the draft of the territory’s sex offender law. Furthermore, the filing claims that de Jongh arranged flights and assisted in obtaining school and work visas for Epstein’s victims.

According to the bank’s filing, the former first lady purportedly received a total of $200,000 in 2007 alone.

“USVI protected Epstein, fostering the perfect conditions for Epstein’s criminal conduct to continue undetected. Rather than stop him, they helped him,” the bank’s filing said. “In sum, in exchange for Epstein’s cash and gifts, USVI made life easy for him. The government mitigated any burdens from his sex offender status. And it made sure that no one asked too many questions about his transport and keeping of young girls on his island.”

“At today’s deposition, our CEO repeatedly confirmed that he never met with him, never emailed him, does not recall ever discussing his accounts internally, and was not involved in any decisions about his account,” JPMorgan said in a statement Friday, as per Reuters.

The bank further argued that the “millions and millions of emails and other documents that have been produced in this case” do not approach the level of “even suggesting that he had any role in decisions about Epstein’s accounts.”

Dimon is not suspected of any wrongdoing in the lawsuits, but a federal judge told him to set aside four days last week for depositions.

A recent report has surfaced shedding light on the connections between the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and the Obama White House. The document, sourced from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, provides a detailed account of Epstein’s activities and associations and links Barack Obama’s White House counsel, Katherine Ruemmler, to the financier.

The report confirms Epstein’s involvement in a sinister sex-trafficking operation. This was openly acknowledged by JPMorgan during a class certification hearing held on May 26, 2023.

In a subsequent press statement, JPMorgan expressed profound regret over their association with Epstein. The banking giant emphasized their ignorance of Epstein’s criminal undertakings, stating they would have severed all business ties had they been aware of his illicit activities.

The report cites a 2019 grand jury finding, which discovered that Epstein had “sexually exploited and abused dozens of minor girls at his homes in Manhattan, New York, and Palm Beach, Florida, among other locations.” Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Epstein, also found herself under the legal spotlight. Indicted and arrested in 2020 on multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors, Maxwell was subsequently convicted on June 28, 2022.

The document further details numerous instances where Epstein’s victims sought justice, filing private civil suits against him and his co-conspirators.

JPMorgan’s involvement is intricately detailed in the report. Evidence suggests that the bank processed several wire payments from Epstein to various women. The report also underscores the significance of the “Know Your Client” (KYC) process, hinting at potential negligence on JPMorgan’s part in its due diligence concerning Epstein.

While the report provides a comprehensive overview of Epstein’s activities and associations, the exact nature and depth of his connection to the Obama White House remain unclear.

The filing indicates that Epstein’s personal assistant recommended Katherine Ruemmler, currently the general counsel for Goldman Sachs and then-counsel for Obama, as a potential client to JPMorgan. JPMorgan was receptive to this idea, even though they had decided to part ways with Epstein as a client nearly six years earlier due to multiple internal concerns raised about him over the years.

The document reads, “In February 2019, Lesley Groff, Epstein’s assistant and one of Epstein’s co-conspirators, offered to introduce Mary Erdoes to Kathy Ruemmler, former White House counsel to President Barack Obama, because she wanted to open an account with JPMorgan and Epstein thought the two of them ‘would bond.’”

“Erdoes escalated the referral to Stacey Friedman, JPMorgan’s General Counsel, who responded “she is a rock star litigator at Latham. . . . I would think she would be a great client.”

JPMorgan acknowledged that Epstein played a role in initiating a client relationship with Kathryn Ruemmler. Ruemmler, known for her tenure in the Obama administration, served as White House Counsel to President Barack Obama from June 2012 to May 2014.

Epstein had a vast network of contacts across various sectors, including politics, finance, academia, and entertainment. Several notable political figures have been connected to Epstein, either through social events, philanthropy, or travel on his private plane.

Bill Clinton, the former U.S. President flew on Epstein’s plane multiple times for philanthropic missions in Africa and had visited Epstein’s private island. Clinton has denied any wrongdoing and stated he knew nothing of Epstein’s crimes.

In June JP Morgan agreed to a settlement sum of $290 million in response to a lawsuit initiated by the alleged victims of Jeffrey Epstein. The settlement signified one of the most considerable financial penalties levied on a bank due to its association with the infamous financier’s appalling conduct​.

Over 170 individuals linked to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein are likely to be named in unsealed court documents at the start of 2024, a judge ordered Monday.

Senior U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska for the Southern District of New York ruled Monday to have a trove of documents related to dozens of unnamed alleged Epstein associates unsealed in fourteen days, court documents show. The anonymous individuals range from “J. Doe” 003 to 187 and appear to be friends, recruiters and victims of the disgraced financier.

Epstein List to Remain Sealed Until At Least Jan. 22

The sealed list containing over 150 names associated with the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein will remain sealed until at least January 22.

The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York announced the delay in filing on Wednesday. The extension came after Judge Loretta Preska approved a 30-day extension requested by an unidentified “John Doe 107” who wished to maintain their anonymity out of “a risk of physical harm.” The filing read:

Letter filed by John Doe 107. ENDORSEMENT: Doe 107’s request for a 30-day extension is approved. Doe 107 shall, by January 22, 2024, submit to the Court for in camera review an affidavit (1) supporting her assertion that she faces a risk of physical harm in her country of residence and (2) providing detail concerning the hate mail she has received. Doe 107’s counsel may also provide by this date any additional factual support for Doe 107’s contention that unsealing the relevant records would put her at risk of physical harm. SO ORDERED. News broke at the end of the year that documents containing an extensive list of people associated with Epstein — which reportedly includes names of associates, possible clients, and victims — would be unsealed after January 1. This was the ruling of Preska, who also approved the extension request. The documents in question are related to the settled case between victim Virginia Giuffre and Epstein’s partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for multiple charges including sex trafficking and conspiracy.

While several well-known people are expected to appear on the list, including former President Bill Clinton (who has been identified by ABC News as “Doe 36”) and Prince Andrew, it is unlikely that any of those parties will face prosecution. NewsNation spoke to defense attorney Janet Johnson who explained: “These names were actually kept secret because the judge found that because they did not do anything wrong, there wasn’t any reason at that point to release them and embarrass them.”
