Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure 7b803164-1a36-4af2-aa85-1db725cc5667-1110x740

How’s that working, Joe Biden’s plan to drop gas prices?

About as well as the non-existent plan that he ran on to defeat COVID.

The average price of gas in the U.S. just hit its highest mark ever — $4.37 a gallon, according to AAA.

Now, that’s the average. In some places, like California, that average would look like Nirvana if they got to see those prices again. The state average there is approaching $6.00. It’s up $1.41 since last year and 17 cents since last week.

This, despite Joe Biden’s claims that he’s doing something about it by depleting our emergency supply. Biden announced in March that he would be releasing 180 million barrels — one million barrels a day for six months — the largest release since the reserve was created back in 1974. But we see how unsuccessful that has been because it’s not addressing the problem. It’s just emptying our savings account so if we truly hit an emergency, we’ll be up a creek without a paddle. Biden also said that the EPA would be allowing the sale of E15 gasoline — ethanol-blended gasoline to supplement the supply. He was hoping that would bring the prices down just before the election, even if they might shoot up afterward. But that hasn’t worked.

Joe Biden has blamed Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine, despite the fact that the prices began going up long before the war. So far, nothing that he’s done has resolved the basic problem as the prices continue to rise. That’s because the whole orientation since he came in has been anti-energy including things like shutting down pipelines and trying to end drilling on federal lands. They’re not concerned about the pain, the pain is the point — to get people to stop using fossil fuels.

From Fox Business:

According to Yardeni Research, increased oil costs suggest the average American household will pay almost $2,000 more for gasoline in 2022, according to a March research note.

“In addition, we estimate that the average household is currently spending at least $1,000 [according to a seasonally adjusted annual rate] more on food as a result of rapidly rising grocery prices,” Edward Yardeni, the president of the firm, wrote on LinkedIn. “That’s $3,000 less money that households have to spend on other consumer goods and services, which also are experiencing rapid price increases.”

I’m inclined to think that might be a conservative estimate, particularly as everything continues to rise.

Here’s a reminder at the beginning of this video about how Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer chastised President Donald Trump for gas prices back in 2018 when the average was under $3.00 (although Schumer was standing in front of a sign that had a higher price). Schumer was calling on him to do something, saying that “mostly it was the president” who held the cards so that’s why they were pressuring him to do something.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, it was under $3.00 for Trump’s entire term and even dipped under $2.00 in 2020. Notice how silent Schumer is now about pressuring Joe Biden.

Biden administration cancels Alaska oil and gas lease sale
May 11, 2022 / 11:14 PM / CBS News

Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure YcH5NcD_d

The Biden administration has canceled one of the most high-profile oil and gas lease opportunities pending before the Interior Department. The decision, which halts the potential to drill for oil in over 1 million acres in the Cook Inlet in Alaska, comes at a challenging political moment, when gas prices are hitting painful new highs.

In a statement shared first with CBS News, the Department of the Interior cited a "lack of industry interest in leasing in the area" for the decision to "not move forward" with the Cook Inlet lease sale. The department also halted two leases under consideration for the Gulf of Mexico region because of "conflicting court rulings that impacted work on these proposed lease sales."

Federal law requires the Department of the Interior to stick to a five-year leasing plan for auctioning offshore leases. The administration had until the end of the current five-year plan — set to expire at the end of next month — to complete these lease sales.

Until now, the White House had remained silent about the massive Alaska lease. However, canceling the sale would be in keeping with political promises President Joe Biden made in the name of halting global warming. But those promises have become a political challenge in the face of prices at the pump.

Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure   Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure EmptyThu May 12, 2022 12:25 am

According to recently released data from the Bureau of Land Management, oil companies now hold 9,841 approved, but unused, drilling permits for federally-owned minerals —
up an astonishing 25% since the end of March, and an all-time high. In particular, companies in the drilling-heavy states of New Mexico and Wyoming have 4,626 and 2,867 approved, but unused permits, respectively.

Further, the data show that companies are applying for fewer and fewer permits each month, resulting in the BLM approving more permits than are currently being applied for.
Basically, the oil and gas industry is insisting that the leasing pause is restricting their ability to produce on federal public lands, but government data show that their interest in acquiring more permits for drilling is actually waning, all while their stockpile of permits is soaring.

This data confirms what a recent study by the Conservation Economics Institute concluded —
the impacts of the Biden administration’s temporary pause on new leasing are negligible.
Although new leases on federal public lands are currently not being offered, the industry has more than 14 million acres of unused leases already on the books —
enough to drill for another 67 years.

In fact, the study found that demand for public lands oil and gas leases has declined in recent decades and that employment in the oil and gas industry is not correlated with the issuance of public land leases.

In the waning months of the Trump administration, the oil and gas industry stockpiled enough leases and permits to continue drilling on public lands for years.

Furthermore, the Center for Western Priorities found that the oil industry regularly fails to use the leases and permits it already has, foregoing development on more than 20 million acres of approved onshore federal leases in the West between 2011 and 2020.'

More than 8,400 approved onshore drilling permits (APDs) between 2016 and 2020 — 54% of all APDs approved during those five years — either expired without being used or are currently sitting unused.

Of the 20 million acres of forfeited leases, 12.1 million acres were “terminated,” which typically happens when companies simply stop paying the rent they owe to American taxpayers.

Oil and gas CEOs are even admitting that they are stockpiling permits and leases. For example, David Hager, executive chairman of Devon Energy, said that his company has enough permits on hand to keep drilling for another four years.

And in their annual reports — where companies are required to disclose business risks to shareholders and investors — several large oil and gas companies did not even list the leasing pause as a major risk to their bottom lines.

Top producers Chevron and ExxonMobil were among those that did not make any mention of President Biden’s executive order on climate change or the leasing pause. And other major producers downplayed the impact of the pause on their operations.

Industry is trying to assert that the current number
of unused permits they are sitting on is “normal” and not indicative of any kind of inactivity, but between October 1, 2020, and January 31, 2021, oil and gas operators received______
over 2,000 approved drilling permits — at least 77 percent more than they had in the first quarter of any fiscal year within the past ten years.

These CEOs are arguing that hoarding 13.9 million idle acres and over 8,400 unused permits is just part of their business model.

((((the oil companies are not using permits to drill to
give us the oil we need))))

And because of pipeline restrictions, and refining capability that isn't hampered by Bidens' climate change bullshit, it'll simply be cheaper to let the unused lease drop off the map.

It's all about politics.

Biden Administration Cancels More Oil and Gas Lease Sales
BY CAMERON ARCAND MAY 12, 2022 10:00 AM ET

The Biden administration strayed further from American energy independence once again, as the Department of Interior canceled two oil and gas lease sales in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, The Hill reported.

There was “lack of industry interest in leasing in the area” of Cook Inlet, Alaska, the department said in a statement to Axios.

In the Gulf of Mexico, the DOI cited legal complications as reasons not to go through with two lease sales. “The Department also will not move forward with lease sales 259 and 261 in the Gulf of Mexico region, as a result of delays due to factors including conflicting court rulings that impacted work on these proposed lease sales,” the statement said.

While the Alaska situation seems to be fairly routine, the Gulf of Mexico decision appears to be the administration’s way of throwing in the towel and handing another victory to left-wing environmental groups.

The administration’s decision to cancel more oil and gas lease sales is bound to draw scrutiny from conservatives and Republican lawmakers, as there is currently a major push to pump more oil in the United States amid the Russia-Ukraine war and high gas prices.

Has your electric bill gone up a lot since you got the electric car? I was wondering how much one would add to the monthly bills.

January 27, 2022 (( 3.5 months ago))

Biden outpaces Trump in issuing drilling permits on public lands.

One year after announcing a halt to any new federal oil and gas leasing,
Biden has outpaced Donald Trump in issuing drilling permits on public lands.

After setting a record for the largest offshore lease sale last year in the Gulf of Mexico, the Interior Department plans to auction off oil and gas drilling rights on more than 200,000 acres across Western states by the end of March, followed by 1 million acres in the Cook Inlet, off the coast of Alaska.

* The Biden administration approved more than 3,500 oil and gas drilling permits in its first year_
nearly 900 more than the Trump administration did
in its first year,-
according to an analysis of federal data by the Center for Biological Diversity.

Last fall, Biden officials put 80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico up for auction in the largest offshore oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history.

While it sold only a fraction of that amount — about 1.7 million acres — it netted nearly $192 million and ranked as the most profitable offshore auction since March 2019.

Before those leases could take effect, a federal judge invalidated the entire sale Thursday, delivering a victory to environmentalists.
Judge Rudolph Contreras, of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, wrote in his opinion that the government had justified the sale using a flawed analysis, which assumed that the climate impacts would be worse if the acreage went unsold.

“The Court believes that [the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s] error was indeed a serious failing,” Contreras wrote.

US faces biggest energy crisis in half a century
Published: May 18, 2022, 11:23 am

“We are experiencing the greatest, possibly the worst, energy crisis in the last 50 years. Gasoline and diesel prices are at record highs and inventories are at record lows,” Stewart told Fox News. At the same time, he stressed that the current US authorities have not only failed to take the necessary action, but also interfere with those who want to resolve the energy crisis.

“What did the Biden administration do this week? What was their major energy announcement? It was to pull millions of acres of federal leases off the table and potentially trap billions of barrels into the ground. It’s really frustrating. I mean, this administration has no strategy to help us get out of it. And frankly, all the actions that they take are counterproductive to those of us who are trying to solve this problem,” he said.

Gasoline prices in the US have been rising steadily, including this week. The increase in fuel prices comes against the backdrop of rising world oil prices, despite the attempts of the White House to counter this trend. On Saturday, according to the non-profit American Automobile Association, the cost of gasoline again exceeded the historical maximum and reached 4,452 dollars per gallon (3,785 liters). A year ago, this figure was at the level of 3 dollars per gallon.

The crisis in the United States is only part of the global picture

Meanwhile, the crisis in the US is only part of the global energy crisis. This opinion was expressed by IEA chief Fatih Birol: “I believe we are in the middle of the first global energy crisis. In the 70s we saw the oil crisis, which had big consequences for the economy and inflation. But it was only oil. Let’s remember that Russia is the world’s number one oil exporter and the world’s number one natural gas exporter, as well as a major player in the materials used by the energy sector.”

“Therefore, the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia or political decisions from the Kremlin have and will have great consequences for the energy market,” said the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency. It would be too optimistic to believe that the current volatility in the energy market would soon pass, he said, and the world returning to times of low prices and stable market conditions.

“This has led us to work with many governments to try to support them on how they can reduce their dependence on Russia and minimize the impact on their economies and residents,” Birol explained. The head of the IEA also warned that “the next few years will not be easy.”

But he added that the “extraordinary financial windfall for the oil and gas sector from today’s high prices could provide a major boost to clean energy investment”.
