Obi.. All tv shows, all, after ten are considered late night.. However, not all are late night talk shows.. SNL is not considered as late-night as Colbert, Kimbel etc..
SNL is a series that has an acting cast (the talk shows do not) it's satire skits performed by actors, has cast (talk shows do not have a cast) It is Not a hosted talk show.
So why in the hell do you categorize it same as a Colbert (all them) hosted an interview talk show with a 5min monologue.
SNL is on late (as many other after 10pm shows) but it is not a, what is known as, a late-night hosted show.
just mentioning-- shame on you!! SHAME ON YOU! categorising the GREAT SNL, a 90-minute Sitcom show, as being same as a 30-minute interview show with a monologue.

I worked at Lauren Michael's house in the Hamptons while Jane Curtain, Gilda Radner, and Chevy Chase were there .. I suspected they wanted me to hang out with them and critique a couple of their skits but I was too busy ..haa ..I can't say I actually met them more than to say a general 'hello' in passing ..I only worked there 1 day and they were out around the pool and I was in the house
I also worked at GE Smith's house for a few weeks out there ... the band leader/guitar player for SNL then ... I didn't like that guy much ...he liked himself enough to make up for anyone that didn't like him ..cocky bastid ..he had huge posters of himself all over his house ...I suspected he wanted me to jam with him, but again, I was too busy ..haha ...
Eddie Murphy was the funniest one that was ever on the show, IMO ... His brother, Charlie was funny too but never got much recognition ...he died recently .. I guess his biggest gigs were on the Dave Chapell show ..Belushi was funny too ...I liked his Joe Cocker impersonation ..SNL just sux anymore ..so does the cast

Eddie Murphy will have some very special guests in the audience when he hosts "Saturday Night Live" this weekend.
All 10 of his kids are flying to New York City for the iconic moment, which marks the first time he's at the helm of the sketch series in 35 years. Murphy was previously a cast member from 1980 to 1984 and last hosted in 1984. He only returned for a brief appearance for the show's 40th anniversary special in 2015.
“My kids have all flown in for this, they’re all flying out. So they’ll watch it,” the 58-year-old actor-comedian told Al Roker during an interview on the "Today" show Thursday.
His family includes kids Max, 1 and Izzy, 3, with partner Paige Butcher, as well as Eric, 30; Bria, 30; Christian, 29; Miles, 27; Shayne, 25; Zola, 19; Bella, 17; and Angel, 12, from different previous relationships.
Murphy talked about the pressure to put on a really good show and why he's so happy to be back in studio 8H.
“At the end of the day, when I go to the hotel room, I wanna get back here and start working on it,” he described. “I want it to be right. I really, really want it to be right.”
“You don’t wanna wait 35 years to come back and the show ain’t s— and people are clapping like, ‘I thought he was gonna be much funnier than this. Maybe he’s older now, people change in 35 years,'” he joked.
Murphy said he's down for resurrecting some of his famous characters like Gumby and Mr. Robinson and is looking into material about disgraced actor Bill Cosby.
"I'm down for whatever, as long as it's really, really funny," he said.
