Bernie Sanders slams Elizabeth Warren as ‘capitalist’
By Alex Pappas | Fox News

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders – the self-proclaimed Democratic socialist whose standing in the 2020 primary has become threatened by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s surge in the Democratic primary with progressive voters – is seeking to cut into the support of his rival by dismissing her as a “capitalist.”

“There are differences between Elizabeth and myself,” Sanders said during an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “Elizabeth I think, as you know, has said that she is a capitalist through her bones. I’m not.”

The comments come amid a rise in socialism in the Democratic Party, as candidates become more willing to openly embrace socialism over capitalism.

Warren last year reportedly said "I am a capitalist to my bones" when asked if she was a capitalist.

Sanders added in the interview he is not a capitalist because “I will not tolerate for one second the kind of greed and corruption and income and wealth inequality and so much suffering that is going on in this country today, which is unnecessary.”

It comes amid polling that Democrats now view socialism more positively than they do capitalism.

A Gallup poll this year found that 43 percent of Americans think socialism would be a good thing for the United States, while 51 percent say it would be a bad thing. Gallup noted that in 1942, a Roper/Fortune survey that found 40 percent of Americans described socialism as a bad thing while only 25 percent called it a good thing.

The polling is fresh evidence that attitudes toward socialism are changing, amid the popularity in the Democratic Party of democratic socialists like Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who pushes policies like “Medicare-for-all” and the Green New Deal.

Meanwhile, two economists at the University of California, Berkeley, claim that billionaires could face a 97.5 percent average effective tax rate under Sanders' plan, which would easily thump other Democrats running for president in 2020.

Emmanuel Saez, one of the professors, told Bloomberg that “with the wealth tax, you get directly at the stock instead of hitting the flow of income, making it a much more powerful de-concentration tool than income taxes." The report pointed out that Sanders has said that the number of billionaires in the U.S. would be cut in half within 15 years under the plan.

The plan unveiled by Sanders seeks a 1 percent levy on households worth more than $32 million and proposes tax rates that would increase for wealthier people, up to 8 percent for fortunes in excess of $10 billion.

Sanders vowed to go further than Sen. Elizabeth Warren and generate more than $4 trillion over the next decade, substantially reducing billionaires’ fortunes. Billionaires would face a 62 percent average effective tax rate under Warren.

Sanders’ plan goes further because it starts on fortunes worth less, kicking in at $32 million. Warren also proposes increasing the wealth tax up to 3 percent on any net worth of more than $1 billion, while Sanders’ tax rates don’t top out until 8 percent for the richest households.

The Massachusetts senator has topped Sanders in recent polls of Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire that show her running about even with the longtime front-runner, former Vice President Joe Biden, in those states.

Grack-- I don't have a horse in this race..
No matter if trump or a Dem is president neither can interfere with my family.
We have the best health care/ free health care isn't needed
We have 2 houses mortgage-free in the usa-canada (thanky grandpa)
children are in private school, the school stuff doesn't concern us.
and their college is taken care of, free college isn't a problem (thanky grandparents)
but hey by the time they are of age it might be a freebie!

So- whomever and their bills and free stuff won't affect us, actually.
but then that could change into something really bad.
but then we can leave America. doctor wife is set for any hospital I got real estate co.
I just want trump succumbed along with his corrupt administration and senate.
trump is worse than a pile of shit.

What is actually going with people;
they are cheering on their teams,
like a football game, only the states are tremendously high.
trumpers will stay ignorant
and demes will be fighting to uphold democracy.
Eventually, which will rise we will know ..
I truly hate to see America lose its democracy to an insane king.

You have no clue .. We don't "cheer on our team" by crippling the opposing "team", which is what the democrats have done to the Trump presidency

You know fukall about democracy either ... When congressional democrats can ignore the wishes of millions of Americans and impeach the president they voted for, it is not a "democracy" ...In a *democracy* they'd wait (less than a year) and beat him in a "democratic* election ... "democratically" controlled LOL

________________________________________________

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders just unveiled a sweeping $150 billion proposal that would fundamentally reshape how the internet works in the United States.

The plan, dubbed "High-Speed Internet for All," would effectively turn the internet into a public utility along the lines of water and power. "High-speed internet service must be treated as the new electricity," the proposal says, "a public utility that everyone deserves as a basic human right."

To that end, the $150 billion would go to creating "publicly owned and democratically controlled, co-operative, or open access broadband networks."

Here's how it works:

There should be ''Air'' internet for all..
We have
free  airwaves radio
free broadcast TV
both are -low-grade-,
that's why all but the poverty level
have Cable tv and radio Sirius, we pay for better.
So-
to have Air Internet is needed a good thing.
Most will buy extra highspeed, internet anyways
but to have the internet available for all, is justified.

it would be the same as broadcast tv, eeehh
the world runs via internet and it needs to be available to all.

Most every cell phone on the planet - including those owned by ghetto people - can already get all the news and entertainment for free now. Homeless people sure as hell have no need for cable TV.

https://ootikof.forumotion.com/t1011-free-tv works great on WiFi, which 99.9% of people already have, or they leach off of cafes, or damn near anyone's homes or businesses.

How do you think your cell phone works, Temple = on a cable??

Bernie Sanders on the Today Show 1981

Sanders in 1981 defeated Gordon Paquette, Burlington’s five-term Democratic mayor, by just 10 votes. The then-39-year-old Sanders ran as an independent and, while he didn’t campaign as a socialist, he made no secret of it, either. Elected just months after Ronald Reagan was elected to the presidency, Sanders’s victory caught national attention.

The 1981 Today segment, titled “Socialism in New England,” shows journalist Jane Pauley declaring, “Face it, you don’t find too many socialists in elected office in this country.”

It then cuts to Phil Donahue, who is sitting down with the newly-elected Sanders. He says that many people were surprised at Sanders’s narrow win. “My goodness, how could this happen in good old conservative Vermont?” Donahue asked.

“Well, in Vermont, being conservative is different, perhaps, than being conservative elsewhere in the country,” Sanders said.

Bernie has good chance of winning, this time..
It will be Joe and Bernie..
imo- it will depend on Who their vice president pics will be..
At their Old age, their VP could become be president..

Both have a possible chance of winning the dem nomination.

Either one will lose to Trump come election time. Bigly.

I dunno.. those million+ women that marched are
organizing the votes for Dems via recruiting women.
there another group organizing voters, also
the Black Power all to vote Democrats
the YOUNG ones are ready to go Democrat/vote, organizing.
not even for a presidential election and Dems took the house and other seats in a landslide.
it was called the blue wave- some called it a typhoon.
seems they're just warming up.
it's only just begun

Politics and/or "the flow" hasn't changed that fuk'n drastically in the past couple weeks .. You did a complete 180 flip-flop .. Bernie went (in your mind) from "will not be nominated" .. "his stuff is not important" .."is not a democrat" to having a "good chance of winning" .. haha ..

From a nothing/nobody that should be ignored to having a good chance of being the next fuk'n president .. It's You and your blather doing the back flip, not the "flow", Bernie, or politics

So did Bernie become a democrat in the past couple weeks? ...What party was he campaigning under before that, and why are you the only one that knows about any change? .. haa ...fool .. Oh, and I thought it was obviously sarcasm when I said "you really know what you're talkin' about" ...it was, so you appear even more ridiculous thanking me for the statement .. I thought even you would realize it for what it was ...Anyway

Keep up with "the flow" in politics and continue to update us on these extreme changes .. I don't know how they sneak past us like that

Bernie Sanders announces massive October-December campaign cash haul
By Paul Steinhauser, Andrew Craft | Fox News
Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign announced early Thursday that the populist firebrand from Vermont raised over $34.5 million over the past three months.

The eye-popping October-December fourth-quarter haul was $9 million more than Sanders brought in during the July-September period – and the largest quarterly figure to date for any of the Democrats seeking the White House this year.

The massive fundraising report came as Sanders – who’s making his second straight bid for the presidential nomination – has surged in national and early-voting-state polling the past two months.

The senator’s staffers said that they received over 1.8 million donations during the final three months of 2019, including contributions from 40,000 new donors that were received on New Year’s Eve, the final day of the fourth quarter. They added that the independent senator hauled in over $18 million in December from over 900,000 contributions, his best single month of fundraising.

“Bernie Sanders is closing the year with the most donations of any candidate in history at this point in a presidential campaign,” campaign manager Faiz Shakir touted.

“He is proving each and every day that working-class Americans are ready and willing to fully fund a campaign that stands up for them and takes on the biggest corporations and the wealthy. You build a grassroots movement to beat Donald Trump and create a political revolution one $18 donation at a time, and that’s exactly why Bernie is going to win,” Shakir emphasized.

Sanders, along with fellow progressive standard-bearer Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, has been eschewing big bucks fundraisers from top-dollar donors, fueling his campaign solely with small-dollar and grassroots contributions.

The campaign noted that Sanders has raised over $96 million from over 5 million individual donations since he launched his campaign. The team added that the average contribution was $18 – and over 99.9 percent of donors have not maxed out and could contribute again. The Sanders campaign added that the overall haul did not include an additional $12.7 million the senator transferred from his other federal fundraising accounts, including his 2018 Senate re-election campaign.
