On Wednesday, The Daily Beast reported that Trump has quietly stopped mentioning a pair of election systems vendors that he and his allies have long implicated in conspiracy theories about the outcome of the 2020 presidential race.
"While the disgraced ex-president continued to spread debunked election conspiracies during a pair of
pre-taped interviews with Newsmax and OAN on Wednesday night, Trump steered clear of directly mentioning the voting software companies that had been at the heart of his most deranged voter fraud lies," reported Justin Baragona.
"According to a source familiar with the matter, Trump has recently been reminded that he shouldn't mention, and definitely not call out by name, Dominion Voting Systems or Smartmatic during new media interviews or public appearances."
Both Dominion and Smartmatic are currently involved in large defamation lawsuits against right-wing associates and supporters of Trump who tried to implicate them in fictional election fraud schemes.
Dominion has filed suit against Rudy Giuliani, and plans to file another suit against right-wing MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.
Smartmatic, meanwhile, has a $2.7 billion suit pending against Fox News.
Dozens of cases filed by Trump's campaign and allies attempting to overturn election results on the basis
of "fraud" have been thrown out of state and federal court — including by judges Trump appointed.
