Merrick Garland to battle right-wing terrorism after career prosecuting extremism.
Merrick Garland, President Joe Biden's nominee to serve as attorney general, will face the peril of resurgent right-wing terrorism, according to a new report by The New York Times.
Garland, who oversaw the Oklahoma City bombing case for the Justice Department, was "the most important thing I have ever done in my life."
But he will have far more on his plate if confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
The Times noted that "Judge Garland's experience prosecuting domestic terrorism cases in the 1990s was the formative work of his career, from the nuances of federal statutes down to the feeling of broken glass crunching beneath his dress shoes.
The man has now met the moment. At his Senate confirmation hearings starting on Monday, he will almost certainly be asked about the Department of Homeland Security's warning that the United States faces a growing threat from "violent domestic extremists" and that the Jan. 6 mob attack on the Capitol may not have been an isolated episode."
Garland also supervised the Unabomber case and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing.
"Judge Garland will take over what prosecutors are calling the biggest, most complex investigation in Justice Department history, the Capitol assault that led to the second impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.
So far there have been at least 230 arrests connected to the riot, but federal officials are investigating as many as 500 people in all. Prosecutors have brought five major cases involving 11 members of the Proud Boys, a far-right nationalist group that was out in force at the Capitol. Nine members of the Oath Keepers militia group have been charged with conspiring to stop the congressional certification of Mr. Biden's victory, " the newspaper noted.
In his prepared opening remarks for his confirmation hearing, Garland is expected to say, "One-hundred and fifty years after the department's founding, battling extremist attacks on our democratic institutions also remains central to its mission."

Well, they weren't among the insurrectionist - Also- the ones arrested in MN from the protest were right-wing terrorists to create deception and they burned the buildings.. Most all have been tried and convicted..ahaa most confessed, guess they wanted to be martyrs or most likely just brainless stupid.. The BLM that were arrested were also tried and convicted but- way way less in numbers in comparison to the right-wing idiots. Outside of that--BLM arent really scary terrorizing peoples. Nor are they attempting to take over the government/insurrectionist. I really don't bother about them, they are just protesting their cause. None belong to the Boogaloo, Proud Boys. Oath Keepers or the dozen of other right-wing Qanon nutjobs. The BLM is quite small in comparison to the right-wingers.

| Did you sleep all through the summer, or were you on a different planet?? An estimated 15 million to 26 million people participated in the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the United States, making it one of the largest movements in the country's history. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/07/03/us/george-floyd-protests-crowd-size.html - Quote :
- Across the United States, there have been more than 4,700 demonstrations, or an average of 140 per day, since the first protests began in Minneapolis on May 26, according to a Times analysis. Turnout has ranged from dozens to tens of thousands in about 2,500 small towns and large cities.

| I wasn't around for about a year and sometimes look in *Similar Topics* .. I thought this was funny in a stupid way
.. Temple starts a thread about AG Garland and his task of "Battling Right-Wing Terrorism" and the post refers to his part in the Uni Bomber case for bragging rights, which was decades ago ... But of course Jan. 6 was mentioned the most.. He'll be on that like white on rice... Turns out he hasn't done shit. Now that the democrat's TV series has ended he's turned it over to a special council... Anyway
What about LEFT WING extremists like BLM? Obi asks... Temple bloviates about right wing terrorists, inserection, bla bla and minimizes BLM and claims they're "quite small" compared to right wingers .. which is just one of his idiotic comments
... directorate replied with the *facts* from Temple's sacred NYTimes.. I'll let that post speak for itself... It abruptly ended the thread...Typical of Temple .... But it doesn't stop him from just starting new threads with the same type of worthless bullshit .. Left wing good, right wing bad... Biden good, orange man bad... Fuck reality...he's on his own personal campaign...his own mission

| As Temple said his brain is '30ih' years less than ours which means he has 30 years less experience and knowledge and what knowledge he does possess is propaganda which was repeatedly drilled into his head by 'educational institutions'. He never learned to form his own opinions and read between the lines to extrapolate his own conclusions. He simply waits to be told what to think and believe and that becomes reality for him without question.
He feels superior to everyone else because he was told that anyone who does not agree with him is simply 'uneducated' and there is no chance that perhaps they may be right. It's a possibility which he will never even consider.
If anything I feel sorry for him. He's not living his life as a human being, he's living his life as a machine being controlled by others. It's pretty sad. |
