Virginia parents manipulated into CRT astroturf campaign by right-wing billionaire Kochs and the Federalist Society.
The campaign against "critical race theory" was started by conservative activist Ian Prior and now right-wing billionaires have adopted the idea as a legitimate wedge issue to perpetuate a race debate and enrage their supporters to vote Republican.
The Daily Beast revealed the anti-CRT movement has been propelled by Fox News personalities while it was the billionaire Koch family who invested in the astroturf campaign against it.
The report found "eight recently created anti-CRT groups which operate at local levels across the country but bear ties to ideological right-wing aristocrats and political operatives.
Their backers include former officials in Donald Trump's administration, an executive at a notorious D.C. lobbying firm, as well as Koch entities and The Federalist Society."
The issue isn't taught outside of law schools, but it has become a catch-all for teaching history that triggers white families to feel uncomfortable.
The 2021 elections in Virginia saw conservatives adopt the fake scandal to generate rage at school board meetings, launch city council measures and ban the teaching of Dr. Marthin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks in public schools.
Prior, who spurred the campaign, previously worked as the "press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee, Justice Department official during the Trump administration, communications director for the Karl Rove super PAC American Crossroads, and now, a GOP operative behind two organizations that have inflamed attacks on so-called critical race theory in Virginia's public schools."
The groups are "Fight for Schools," which works at the state level to go after education in the Democratic stronghold of Loudoun County, Virginia. One protest at the end of June turned violent, with two parents being arrested. It's unclear if those two parents are aware they were manipulated by Republican campaign operatives.
"The candidate [now Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin] turned to Prior's group for fundraising and voter outreach efforts, and state election disclosures show that the organization raised hundreds of thousands of dollars during the campaign," said the Beast.
The children appearing on Fox News to talk about their schools are actually Prior's children. They've been on Fox at least 15 times.
The so-called "Loudoun County parent" and a "father" who went "from concerned parent, like many of you, to legal activist," is a long-time Republican operative, and always has been.
His Virginia group also scored funding from 1776 Action, which the Beast described as "a dark money nonprofit led by former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson." They were working with groups like The Heritage Foundation.
Another group, pretending to be run by parents and families, the Parents Against Critical Theory, is another astroturfed group that has "incorporation documents with the state of Virginia show Prior as its signatory." |

| McAuliffe lost because he's a right-wing Clintonian bag man whose entire campaign could be summarized as "I'm not Trump" and people aren't falling for that bullshit any more.
The democrats had an opportunity, just like Obama did, to pass whatever the fuck they wanted due to controlling the white house and all of congress. Instead of keeping their campaign promises (public option, cancel student debt, $15 minimum wage, etc.) they used every excuse in the books to not do any fucking thing. If not the parliamentarian or the filibuster it was a revolving villain within their own party that always -ALWAYS- gosh darn it prevented the democrats from actually doing the thing they promised to do.
THAT's why McAuliffe couldn't simply coast into the governor's mansion on his "I'm not Trump" unicycle and since he had fuckall else to run on he predictably got roflstomped.
The democrats' brand has been made toxic by their own hands and 2022 isn't going to be kind to them at all. They'll probably lose control of both the house and the senate but they're okay with that because then they can go back to blaming republicans for everything instead of having to pretend they're powerless when they hold all the fucking power.
Get used to the idea now and save yourself some anguish later. |

| McAuliffe fucked up, for sure.. But- by trial and run- lessons learned, hopefully. Most all is messed up..hard to find a clue as to who will win,, But-- in many of the other races, the Dems did very well indeed. They were by no means wiped out.. It's a long run, time tell. And there is 3+ years to go take care of business.. Patience- if they hold the house with 2 plus. Also; Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Dems won NJ by a bigger margin than they lost VA. And; Georgia Democrats FLIPPED 41 seats in 21 counties across Georgia on Tuesday. And; So far, Democrats have cut child poverty in half, added 5.3 million jobs, managed the most ambitious vaccine rollout in the nation’s history, and passed a $1.2 trillion investment in the water, roads, bridges and broadband. In 9 months' time.

| The democrats didn't seem to learn a damned thing after Hillary's utterly humiliating loss to the orange clown so opining now that they might/could/should internalize the actual reasons for their new losses is a baseless assumption.
Don't you get it yet? The democrats don't give any fucks -zero fucks- about voters or citizens in general. They only care about the desires of their big-money donors and imperialism. Nothing else.
They'd have to be fucking morons not to already know why they're despised and what they could do about it. They know... they simply don't care. It's not important. Whether they're the majority or minority, in power or out, nothing fundamentally changes and that's by design.
Only complete fucking idiots still buy into the Team Blue /vs/ Team Red bullshit.
Which explains why you're banging on about it, eh? Jeezus you're such a complete spoon.
BTW: The democrat only won New Jersey's governor race by a couple of percentage points when it should have been a blowout. Just admit it... the democrats are sinking faster than Joe's nose whenever he gets in pouncing distance of a young girl's nape. |
