Right-wing Michigan 'convoy' fizzles as few show up to protest election results and COVID-19 mandates.
A right-wing protest against COVID-19 mandates and supporting election fraud conspiracies at the Michigan Capitol building off the blockades at the border that shut down the Ambassador Bridge for a week has failed to gain traction for the last week.
Around 10 people showed up to the Capitol building Sunday afternoon for what was billed as the “Lansing Freedom Convoy.”
The group has called on “all our good men” to park their cars in downtown Lansing and demand “honest elections,” “a voter-run audit and canvass” and for police to “arrest and charge all criminals in government, media and medicine.”
There currently are few COVID-19 protocols in Michigan, with no statewide mask mandates since June 2021 and every county lifting its requirement.
The group has also been hosting daily “slow rolls” around the Capitol building last week, but these daily events also only had a small number of participants.
Earlier this month, another right-wing rally questioning the results of the 2020 general election had a smaller than anticipated crowd.
Organizers for that rally called on thousands of people to flood the building and demand a “forensic audit” of the election, which didn’t happen.
Despite the fact that President Joe Biden defeated former President Donald Trump by more than 154,000 votes in Michigan, many GOP activists and officials have been pushing election fraud conspiracies for over a year.
The “freedom convoy” in Lansing is allied with protesters who shut down the Ambassador Bridge and other border crossings earlier this month. That protest, which started with truckers blasting horns in Ottawa, opposed a Canadian vaccine mandate requiring drivers entering Canada to be fully vaccinated or they face a testing and quarantine requirement.
According to a report from the Anderson Economic Group, the protest at the Ambassador Bridge cost the auto industry about $300 million, including $145 million in lost direct wages and $155 million in losses to automakers, including General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Honda and Toyota.
That protest was backed by 30 GOP state lawmakers and several Republican gubernatorial candidates, including former Detroit Police Chief James Craig and chiropractor Garrett Soldano.

America's trucker convoy struggles to reach goal of shutting down the DC Beltway.
Americans who supported the Canada trucker protest in Ottawa have decided to create a convoy of their own, but it isn't quite working out as they'd hoped.
Earlier this morning, one Scranton trucker, Bob Bolus, desperately waited for others who promised they'd join him. No one came.
Then he found out he had two flat tires. Finally, once the tires were changed he did a "parade" with his truck in downtown Scranton. Once he took off for Washington he was able to collect at least 7 others to join with the convoy to the Capitol.
Bob Bolus is on the highway headed down to DC. We have driven up and down the line, His 18 wheeler is the only one in the convoy followed by four or five pick up trucks and SUVs (that we can tell). All other 18ws passing him.
The low numbers could be a problem if the intent is to lockdown the Beltway, which is 64 miles long.
In an exchange with a person claiming to be from Montana fought with a person talking about the time for praying is over. "GET OFF YOUR ASS AND FIGHT!!???" the person said. Bragging about building ARs and posting photos of a gun cabinet, the "Montana Patriot" said that they were heading to DC to "fight."
"The People’s Convoy will abide by agreements with local authorities, and terminate in the vicinity of the DC area, but will NOT be going into DC proper," they said in a press release, according to WJLA news.
Washington, DC has laws about the constant movement of traffic. As the Capitol city, Washington has many areas with heavy security perimeters around them. The narrow neighborhood streets and constant battles for parking means the city isn't a friendly place for anyone stopping on the streets. In fact, DC DOT regulates "through truck travel" the website says.
"Few streets in the District of Columbia are completely restricted to trucks. Except for a few locations near sensitive federal structures, a truck restriction means that the street is closed to through truck traffic, but open to trucks making local deliveries."
The laws also say_ "no trucks are permitted on the Roosevelt Bridge entering/exiting Washington DC and Virginia." they also say, "trucks are prohibited on I-66 east of I-495."
While both Maryland and Virginia have Republican governors, blocking highways in their states isn't likely to go over well. The Beltway is the route typically taken for Pentagon workers, NSA staff, CIA staff, Andrews Air Force Base, and others.
As the news and videos of the small convoys spread, they've become the butt of the joke for those living in the DMV metro area.

not understanding how to shorten his crap-- one born every minute-- he doesn't know how to post from a phone bwaa haaa! I shortened the Twitter URL you posted above, Temple - as it was causing your post to be twice as wide as it should have been. Last time I checked, Grackle was posting from his phone, and you were able to read his posts. What a hypocrite you are. |

| This should be simple

Text on this board "wrap" itself .. There are no /line break tags used and the board doesn't render HTML...so how could I (or anyone) possibly fuck up and somehow cause a paragraph to turn into a long line of text that would stretch out on the screen? .. Being on a phone has nothing to do with anything .. I didn't post an image or anything too large to fit the screen .. It was a small paragraph of text .. If my text doesn't render correctly on this board i think i woulda been made aware of that long ago ..There's nothing abnormal or different about the way my text is rendered on this board because of the fact i typed it on a phone ... I hope that helps, Temple |
