| Psaki leaving White House for MSNBC Alexander Nazaryan·Senior White House Correspondent Fri, April 1, 2022, 9:14 AM
WASHINGTON — After serving as White House press secretary for more than a year, Jen Psaki will leave the Biden administration for MSNBC, where she will serve as a host and on-air expert. The departure, first reported by Axios, is expected this spring.
Psaki has held near-daily briefings since the start of the Biden presidency, and has generally been praised for her transparency. She had initially said she would stay in her position for a year, but a number of overlapping crises — the coronavirus pandemic, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and, most recently, the war in Ukraine — appear to have extended her tenure.
The news outlet Puck had previously reported that Psaki was in talks with both CNN and MSNBC, and there was even speculation that she might replace MSNBC primetime star Rachel Maddow, who is stepping back from nightly hosting duties.
Psaki will join a cable news landscape crowded with alumni of high-level Washington politics. CBS recently hired former Trump White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, a decision for which it was criticized by some of the network’s own employees. And Symone Sanders, former top spokesperson to Vice President Kamala Harris, will start hosting her own program on MSNBC in May. |

| NBC News staffers reportedly miffed about MSNBC's planned Psaki hire Brigid Kennedy, Staff Writer Thu, April 7, 2022, 3:31 PM
NBC News staffers are apparently "troubled by" by MSNBC's decision to hire Jen Psaki upon her departure as White House Press Secretary, people familiar with the matter told CNN.
In an attempt at addressing some of their concerns, NBC News president Noah Oppenheim reportedly held an impromptu phone call with "vexed" Washington bureau employees on Friday, some of which have complained that "the tentative hiring tarnishes the NBC News brand," CNN writes.
In the call, Oppenheim reportedly made the case that NBC News did not have a role in hiring Psaki, nor should journalists feel hires made for MSNBC's opinion arm are related to their work.
"Here's what he was saying: They have perspective programming. This was done on the perspective programming side. Not anything that reflects on NBC News," one of the individuals on the call with Oppenheim explained to CNN, who also held discussions with Psaki.
NBC News journalists should just do their jobs as usual, Oppenheim reportedly added.
Psaki is said to be leaving the White House around May for a hosting gig on NBCUniversal's streaming platform, though the deal is not yet final. She'd also be appearing on various MSNBC shows.
The frustartion around Psaki's hiring also threatens to widen an already-present rift between NBC News and MSNBC, CNN notes.
"This has been a slow boil for a while," one staffer said. NBC News journalists have also "watched closely" as MSNBC's prioritized commentary and perspective shows over hard news reporting since MSNBC President Rashida Jones took control a little over a year ago, CNN writes.
"Rashida is unapologetic with what she's doing with MSNBC," one network employee told CNN. "She has been clear about the network's direction." |

| Jen Psaki in tears during interview on Republican anti-LGBTQ ‘cruelty’ Richard Luscombe, The Guardian Tue, April 19, 2022, 10:41 AM·
The White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, broke down in tears during an interview in which she condemned the “cruelty” of a wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation sweeping Republican states.
Known for her toughness at the briefing room podium, Psaki showed a more emotional side during the discussion with Jessica Yellin, host of the News Not Noise podcast, in an interview released on Tuesday.
“They’re doing that in a way that is harsh and cruel to a community of kids, especially,” Psaki said, in tears, after Yellin asked her to “make sense” of the Republican push for legislation that marginalises the LBGTQ+ community.
“I’m going to get emotional about this issue because it’s horrible. But it’s kids who are bullied, and all these leaders are taking steps to hurt them, and hurt their lives and hurt their families.
“And you look at some of these laws in these states and who’s going after parents, who are in loving relationships, who have kids. It’s completely outrageous. Sorry, this is an issue that makes me completely crazy.”
Analysts say the wave of legislation, prominently including Florida’s so-called “don’t say gay” bill, which attacks the teaching of LGBTQ+ issues, is designed to provoke “gender grievance” among voters ahead of November’s midterm elections.
“What we’re talking about here in Florida, for example … if you have a kid in a classroom, and I have a kindergartner, I can imagine her saying, ‘My friend has two moms. My friend has two dads’,” Psaki said.
“And the teacher in her classroom, I would hope would say, ‘That’s wonderful. They’re loving parents, and you have a mom and a dad.’
“This is penalising teachers and educators. There are so many layers of this that are outrageous, and I hope people continue to educate themselves on this because it is a bad side of politics.”

| LGBTQ peoples are people. They do not interfere in my life or yours. I have no worries that they will destroy the world. People need to step back and leave them alone. They live their life according to their life, no big deal. The men kissing ect is very unbelievable that they can do that but they do. I don't care to see it- but it's their lives.

*ahem* Naked ‘Family Sex Show’ for Five Year Old Children Cancelled After BacklashA leftist theatre troupe has cancelled their scheduled performance of the “Family Sex Show” for children as young as five years old featuring nudity and covering topics such as sex and LGBT theories on gender following an intense backlash from the public. On Tuesday, it was announced that the “Family Sex Show”, which was scheduled to be staged at the Tobacco Factory Theatre in Bristol and The Egg Theatre in Bath, England in May, has been cancelled, with organisers claiming to have received “unprecedented threats and abuse”. The theatre troupe ThisEgg described their show as a “fun and silly performance about the painfully AWKWARD subject of sex, exploring names and functions, boundaries, consent, pleasure, queerness, sex, gender and relationships”. Organisers suggested that the show would be suitable for children as young as five, despite featuring naked performers and covering sex in detail. The group’s website also hosts a glossary of terminology to supposedly educate children on sexual concepts, including terms such as “hand job”, “squirting”, and “cum”. Touting their leftist bona fides, the show claimed to be informed by an “intersectional, feminist, non-binary, anti-racist & sex-positive take on Relationships and Sex Education.” https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2022/04/20/naked-family-sex-show-for-five-year-olds-cancelled-after-backlash/ |

| Ethics group slams Psaki for comments on Fox’s Doocy, ditching White House for cable gig Dominick Mastrangelo, The Hill Wed, April 20, 2022, 9:26 AM
An ethics group is complaining to The White House about recent comments press secretary Jen Psaki has made about a Fox News correspondent and recent reports of her upcoming departure from the administration to work for another network.
In a letter to White House counsel Dana Remus this week, Protect the People’s Trust alleged that Psaki had violated ethical codes by “disparaging” Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy and has been engaged in a conflict of interest by lobbying for a cable news job while she is still serving as press secretary.
“The appearance of a conflict of interest risks further damaging the already low level of public trust in government,” the letter read. “In order to restore public trust and live up to Ms. Psaki’s own commitment to transparency and engagement, we are calling upon you to investigate whether Ms. Psaki violated her ethical duties, either in her remarks regarding Fox News or in her conduct while negotiating non-federal employment more generally.”
Psaki is expected to leave her post as press secretary this year to take a gig as a host and analyst on MSNBC.
During an episode of “Pod Save America” last week, Psaki was asked if Doocy was a “stupid son of a bitch” or if he played one on TV.
“OK, um, well. He works for a network,” Psaki said, “that provides people with questions that, nothing personal to any individual, including Peter Doocy, but might make anyone sound like a stupid son of a bitch.”
Psaki also praised Doocy, saying he had shown a “moment of grace” after President Biden called him “a stupid son of a bitch.”
Biden, Psaki and other officials throughout the administration have regularly pushed back on questions coming from Fox News reporters, accusing them of bias and conservative slant.
In a response to The Hill’s request for comment on the letter, a White House spokesperson asked: “What’s ‘Protect the Public’s Trust?’ Is that an insurance company?”
Michael Chamberlain, director of Protect the People’s Trust, is a former Trump administration official. |

| Jen Psaki Breaks Silence On ‘Scary’ Part of Her Former Job Carmine Sabia, May 22, 2022
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed some startling details about things that happened to her after she became famous for delivering the talking points for President Joe Biden.
Until a week ago it was Psaki’s job to deliver the White House talking points and give the administration its best appearance even when it was failing miserably.
Part of that job came with fans who wanted her autograph or to take pictures with her, but it also came with those who wanted to threaten and harass her, much like the press secretaries who came before her in the administration of former President Donald Trump.
The comments came during a forum at the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago entitled “Notes from the Frying Pan to the Fire” on Wednesday, Mediaite reported.
“Something that came up on the stage here recently was this notion that we don’t really have kind of these high profile political operatives anymore, like Karl Rove, like David Axelrod. Kellyanne. Kellyanne Conway, I would say in that category, kind of in the spotlight. And so in this dynamic that you’re describing, you’ve sort of kind of in some ways became the personification of the administration. And that’s, whether it was kind of like the ‘Yass Kween!’ aspect of it or, you know, all the other things we just described. Did that feel weird for you? Do you feel like that’s part of this culture shift? What was that like for you personally?” moderator Jennifer Steinhauer said.
“For me personally. So because of COVID, and you know, I did not go out anywhere for I mean, a long time, as I’m sure it’s true for many people in here. And when I started this job, I don’t think I left the White House for the first two or three months. Actually, I remember the first time I tried to leave the White House, and I had worked there before, but I couldn’t figure out how to wave the badge to get out of the gate. And it was like shaking the gate and trying to get out to get a cup of coffee. But my point is, I, the briefing room is very small. And so when you are just doing that every day and you’re doing your job and you’re trying to do your job, you’re pretty closed off from kind of the external stuff, aside from Twitter. And I won’t focus on that,” the former press secretary said.
“And the first time that I was out in public and anyone recognized me for good, I had somebody who followed me around and was yelling shame at me at a baseball game. And my husband was very distressed by this. I was not. And then I also had people who wanted to take pictures. And it was very jarring because I had just been doing my job and had not been tracking that anyone would ever possibly know who I was. So that was jarring,” she said.
“What has been the most difficult is that there are a lot of people out there who are vitriolic and I have had a lot of threats against me, against my family, names of my kids texted to me with my home address, things that are very scary. And that is when it starts to get. I don’t know. Was that the case ten, 15, 20 years ago? I’m not sure. But it is an aspect of today that is a little scarier.
“And truth is, I can go out there. I mean, last week I was in this job five or six days ago. And, you know, I had a lot to say about Senator Rick Scott’s tax plan. Right? I don’t wish him ill. Right? I don’t wish violence against him or his family. I wish I wish him fine. I wish him well. You know, I just disagree with his tax plan. And we’re now at a point in time where it is frightening the level of vitriol out there and as a weirdly, a semipublic-ish person. That is something that has been a part I didn’t anticipate,” she said.
The moderator asked her if she had ever had to report any of the threats to the Secret Service to which Psaki responded ion the affirmative.
“I’ve had to report a number of things to them over the course of time. Yes. Because you don’t know what’s what’s accurate and what’s not accurate. And you, I have like no risk aversion. But my husband, who was fortunately has a higher level than I do. It becomes alarming when your kids’ names are out there, and your home address is out there, and you’re getting threatening mail to your house. You do have to be proactive about it,” she said.
