| Denver Mayor Declares Emergency, Says City ‘On Verge of Reaching Breaking Point’ Amid Influx of Illegal Immigrants
The city of Denver declared a state of emergency on Thursday in order to stave off a local humanitarian crisis amid an influx of illegal aliens from the southern border, mainly from El Paso, Texas.
Mayor Michael Hancock, a Democrat, issued the declaration as several hundred illegal aliens, mostly from Central and South America, have arrived in the state in just the past few days alone.
“Let me be frank: This influx of migrants, the unanticipated nature of their arrival, and our current space and staffing challenges have put an immense strain on city resources to the level where they’re on the verge of reaching a breaking point at this time,” Hancock said at a news conference on Thursday.

Democrat Mayor Declares ‘State of Emergency’ as Denver Flooded with Illegal Migrants Frank Bergman, December 16, 2022 - 9:01 am
Denver’s Democrat Mayor Michael Hancock has declared a “state of emergency” after his Colorado city has been flooded with illegal migrants from the southern border.
Hancock made the declaration on Thursday in order to stave off a local humanitarian crisis.
The city has been hit with an influx of illegal aliens from the southern border, mainly from El Paso, Texas.
Several hundred illegal border-crossers, mostly from Central and South America, have arrived in the state in just the past few days alone.
“Let me be frank: This influx of migrants, the unanticipated nature of their arrival, and our current space and staffing challenges have put an immense strain on city resources to the level where they’re on the verge of reaching a breaking point at this time,” Hancock told reporters during a Thursday press conference.
“What I don’t want to see is a local humanitarian crisis of unsheltered migrants on our hands because of a lack of resources,” he added.
According to the mayor’s office, more than 900 illegal aliens have arrived in Denver over the past several months.
That figure includes more than 600 people who arrived since December 2.
Another 247 illegal immigrants have arrived since Monday alone.
According to Hancock’s office., another 75 turned up at a local homeless shelter overnight on Thursday night.
Approximately 404 illegals are currently being accommodated in the city’s emergency shelters.
102 are being housed at church and nonprofit shelter sites, the mayor’s office said.
The “anticipated nature” of the arrival of the influx of illegal aliens has placed extreme pressure on the city’s efforts to shelter them, Hancock’s office said during Thursday’s news conference.
The situation is leading to limited space which is being further exacerbated by a lack of staffing.
The mayor’s office warns that winter weather is set to make the situation worse.
Hancock added that Denver is currently “at the level where we are on the verge of reaching breaking point at this time.”
“The declaration is another tool in the toolbox to help serve the increasing number of migrants arriving in Denver, particularly as winter weather sets in,” Hancock said.
Under the emergency declaration, Colorado’s Democrat Gov. Jared Polis will be alerted that Denver is enacting a state of emergency.
Denver will then be able to access additional emergency resources to help manage the influx of aliens.
The city will also be able to continue requesting financial assistance from various funding sources.
Hancock said that, together with community partners, and the help of local churches and nonprofits, the city continues to provide aliens—the majority of which are coming to the city having entered the United States through El Paso, Texas—with emergency shelter.
Denver has already used over $800,000 in taxpayer funds for sheltering illegal migrants.
That number is expected to increase significantly, officials warn.
According to Hancock, the majority of the illegal immigrants who have arrived in Denver are from Venezuela.
He says they are fleeing a political and humanitarian crisis in their home country.
The mayor took aim at Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration for failing to address the “critical situation” or respond adequately.
Hancock suggested the Biden admin is ignoring the situation after being made aware of it.
“It is at a crisis point right now and cities all over this country are being forced to deal with something we’re not equipped to deal with,” he said.
The mayor’s declaration comes shortly before the end of the Trump-era Title 42 program that allowed Border Patrol agents to turn illegal aliens back to their country immediately if they were deemed to pose a health threat amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Title 42, which helped stem the tide of illegal immigration and has been used millions of times to expel aliens since March 2020, is set to end on Dec. 21.
The Department of Homeland Security has unveiled a plan (pdf) to help deal with the influx of migrants attempting to enter the United States once Title 42 is dropped.
The plan includes closing gaps along the southwest border wall, creating more temporary detention tents, and increasing prosecutions of smugglers.
However, the department has said that it expects around 9,000 to 14,000 illegal aliens to cross the border daily.
As Slay News reported earlier, California’s Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom is also raising the alarm about the end of the successful Trump-era policy. |

| Colorado governor plans to send migrants to New York, mayor says Joe Anuta Tue, January 3, 2023 at 9:04 AM MST
NEW YORK — Colorado Gov. Jared Polis plans to send migrants to major cities including New York, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday, warning that the nation's largest city is already struggling to deal an influx of people sent from Texas and other Republican-led states.
The impending move by Polis is unusual because Colorado is not a border state and both leaders are Democrats facing severe challenges over what they say is a national crisis around immigration.
"We were notified yesterday that the governor of Colorado is now stating that they are going to be sending migrants to places like New York and Chicago," Adams said during a radio appearance. "This is just unfair for local governments to have to take on this national obligation."
An aide to Adams said the mayor's administration was told of the governor's intentions on Monday evening. And while it appeared that Polis' plan entailed redirecting migrants who had arrived in Colorado to New York City and other metropolitan areas, the details on timing and the number of people who would be traveling east was unclear.
Polis' office did not immediately respond.
Like many major cities around the country, Denver has been struggling to provide services for a surge of people who have fled their home countries in Central and South America, crossed the southern border and sought asylum in the United States. Last month, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock declared a state of emergency and later appealed to the local Catholic archdiocese for assistance. He and Polis — both Democrats — also launched a fund to raise money to support services for migrants.
Thousands of migrants have attempted to cross into the U.S. from the southern border in recent weeks, in part because a Trump administration border policy, known as Title 42, was set to expire in December. The Supreme Court last week blocked the lifting of the policy, which allows the U.S. to expel migrants to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott over the spring and summer bused thousands of migrants from the border to blue strongholds like New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, while Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis flew nearly 50 mostly Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard. He claimed it was to bring attention to the border situation.
But in recent weeks, the dilemma at the border has become worse. El Paso’s Democratic mayor, Oscar Leeser, declared a state of emergency in December after migrants began pouring into the city. Abbott also deployed hundreds of Texas national guard and state troopers to the border to stop people from entering the U.S.
A spokesperson for Abbott said in an email, "We are still only busing to DC, NYC, Chicago, and Philadelphia."
Adams said Tuesday around 30,000 asylum seekers have arrived in New York City since the spring in need of food, shelter and education — a surge that has has stretched the city's social service infrastructure to the breaking point and opened up huge risks for the municipal budget. Adams, along with the two Colorado leaders, have called on the federal government to provide assistance to localities dealing with the influx.
"No city should have to make a decisions if they're going to provide for their citizens — particularly coming out of Covid — or if they're going to deal with an onslaught of migrants and asylum seekers," he said. |

These assholes will twist it any way possible in attempt to blame Trump after they fought him tooth and over every attempt he made to secure the border - Quote :
The Supreme Court last week blocked the lifting of the policy, which allows the U.S. to expel migrants to stop the spread of Covid-19. Title 42 was one of many desperate attempts by Trump to stop the illegal migrants from crossing the border .. It obviously puts Americans at risk of covid as well as a plethora of other diseases they could bring in from other countries Although it's not their place or their job, it's the 2nd time the SCOTUS has had to do this because the Biden admin stands by uselessly while our country is invaded by millions of illegal migrants .. Now that it's completely out of control, the virtue signaling from democrats and the left has finally subsided and they're looking to place the blame for it everywhere but where it belongs...on the Biden admin and themselves |
