And every airport in America plays CNN on  their tv's, if ya wanna talk about brainwashing.

Why Do Airports Always Play CNN?

Waiting for a flight requires equal parts patience and distraction. Airports provide some of the latter with their TVs—and many specifically show CNN.

So, why do so many airports play CNN?

First, it's technically not the same exact CNN program people watch at home.

Instead, the CNN Airport Network offers unique programming.
The content is similar; however, the network caters directly to people in waiting rooms and—you guessed it—airports.

According to the network, 59 airports across the United States run the CNN Airport Network.
They show a mix of lifestyle, entertainment, sports, and business headlines, as well as live CNN.

There's a dedicated staff for the airport network that programs everything. You won't find any news about commercial aviation crashes or stories inappropriate for a family-friendly airport environment.

Although many airports show CNN, they have their own individual relationships with the network. Airports request proposals from news outlets to show their content and often can't air other competitors.

CNN Airport Network happens to be a popular choice.
It might be because the network reportedly pays airports for exclusive access to display their content and provides funds for TV equipment. Airports can even include free, personal, original programming and local advertisements specific to the area as part of the deal.

Arizona reels as three of the biggest wildfires in its history ravage state
Extreme weather has contributed to the vast blazes – with the pandemic complicating the emergency response

For residents of Tucson in southern Arizona, the Santa Catalina Mountains in the Coronado national forest are known as a hub for hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor recreation.

But on 5 June lightning ignited a wildfire that has grown to engulf over 118,000 acres. The fires are still only 58% contained. Called the Bighorn fire, it is the eighth-biggest in state history, and it has transformed the Catalinas into a hub for the study of the impacts of climate change. Nasa satellite photos show large scar marks left by the fire.

“At night you can see basically the outline of the fire on the mountain,” said Courtney Slanaker, the executive director for the American Red Cross Southern Arizona, “and then during the daytime you’re seeing that heavy smoke as it moves through different fuel sources on the mountain.”

And yet, Bighorn is just one of three fires that sit in the top 10 biggest wildfires in Arizona history.

The Bush fire in the Tonto national forest, about 30 miles from Phoenix, now covers 193,000 acres and 98% is contained. I

t is the fifth-biggest in state history.
Meanwhile, the Mangum fire burning in the Kaibab national forest now covers over 71,000 acres and 67% contained.

The trio of fires are bigger than Washington DC, San Francisco, Baltimore, Chicago, Miami, Minneapolis and Manhattan combined.

Despite the fires’ enormous size, only one home has suffered serious structural damage.

For the Bighorn fire, Mike DeVries, the incident command team public information officer, said it was too early to relax.

– More complex formula –

Ideker and colleagues studied the methylation patterns on 104 Labrador retrievers, who ranged in age from a few weeks old to 16 years. These were then compared to the methylation patterns in humans.

The scientists were able to devise a more complex formula that better matches the canine-human life stages — but you’ll need a scientific calculator to figure it out.

The formula is “human age = 16 * ln (dog age) + 31,” and you can also use Google to try it for yourself (remember it’s l for “log” and then n for “natural,” all lowercase).

So if your dog is two years old, type, without quote marks, “16* ln(2)+ 31” and hit enter to reveal “42.”

Based on this formula, an eight-week-old pup is approximately equal to a nine-month-old human baby — both being at the stage where they develop teeth.

Labradors’ average lifespan is 12 years, which also roughly corresponds to human life expectancy of 70 years.

A dog’s life: Scientists find new formula for canine age

“I like to take my dogs on runs, and so I’m a little bit more sympathetic to the 6-year-old now,” said Ideker, because his pet is the human equivalent of 60 under the new formula.

NIH scientist Elaine Ostrander, who co-authored the study, said the new formula had been developed with Labradors in mind, but further investigation could include long-lived breeds — which are generally smaller in size — and short-lived breeds, which are larger.

Such clocks will enhance our understanding of cross-species aging, and help veterinarians in their clinical practice, the team said.

Florida official who opposed local mask mandate in ‘critical condition’ with COVID-19

A public official in Florida who voted against a resolution requiring people wear face masks to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus is now in critical condition after being infected by the disease.

Local news station News 4 Jax reports that St. Johns County Commissioner Paul Waldron has been hospitalized after being diagnosed with COVID-19, and his daughter posted on Facebook late last week that he went into septic shock and has “many organs struggling.”

“He is currently in the most critical of conditions,” she wrote.
“Please keep your family safe and pray for mine.”

Engel ousted in New York primary after lengthy vote count
Educator Jamaal Bowman was declared the winner after more than three weeks, as local officials counted large numbers of absentee ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Democrat Jamaal Bowman has defeated Rep. Eliot Engel
in a primary in New York, ousting the 16-term incumbent and chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in an election that took nearly a month to resolve.

The Associated Press declared Bowman the winner on Friday morning, more than three weeks after the June 23 primary in New York, where local authorities had to process unusually large numbers of absentee ballots cast because of the coronavirus pandemic. When The AP called the race, Bowman led Engel, 56 percent to 40 percent.

Bowman, a middle-school principal who was endorsed by most national progressives, challenged Engel from the left and argued that the incumbent had lost touch with his solidly Democratic district, which extends from the Bronx into Westchester County. He campaigned on liberal priorities, like Medicare for All, the single-payer health care plan, and the Green New Deal.

“The world has changed. Congress needs to change, too,” Bowman said in a statement sent to reporters minutes after he was declared the winner. “But if we can take on entrenched power and wealthy interests here in Westchester and the Bronx, then we can do it all across this country.

“Jamaal is the fourth challenger backed by Justice Democrats to unseat an out-of-touch incumbent,” Rojas said. “He’s one of the first candidates being swept into Congress by the movement in the streets right now, and he won’t be the last.”

Lady Antebellum Changes Name to Washington Redskins
BY BIBEK GURUNG | JULY 20, 2020

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The embattled country group formerly known as Lady Antebellum, and more recently Lady A, has finally settled on a new name and will now be called “The Washington Redskins.”

“Not only do we want to put the litigation behind the name Lady A behind us, but we also feel strongly it’s important to be good allies, at least to one ethnic group at a time. And we thought calling ourselves the Washington Redskins made sense for us, since nobody else is using that name anymore and I’m actually part Cherokee,” said singer Hillary Scott, a claim she later admitted was based on family lore rather than DNA evidence or Tribal records. “We think this name change will be a good move for us — I already ran it by my Black friend.”

“Well, not really a friend, but the only Black person on our road crew,” added Scott. “I forget her name.”

Fans were initially disappointed when the group bowed to public pressure and changed their name to Lady A — a name that already belonged to soul musician Anita White — but the same fans fully support the latest change.

“Everyone who demanded the name change does not understand how important heritage is to country music. I mean, it’s almost like having all these Confederate monuments all over the place didn’t really teach them any history,” said Bobbie Gish, a diehard fan from Savannah. “Changing their name to the Washington Redskins proves they aren’t a bunch of cucks. That football team might be dead to me, but this band is more important to me now than ever. Mainly because it pisses off liberals.”

Ownership of the Washington, D.C.-based football team supported the band’s decision as well.

“I hated changing our beautiful name, which was not a slur but merely a tribute to the savages that once roamed this country,” said team owner Dan Snyder. “We’re going to call ourselves something else with a lot of name recognition that no one else will be using: going forward, we will be the Washington Aunt Jemimas.”

The controversy settled, the Washington Redskins are now looking forward to just playing that one song they’re known for at country fairs across the south for years to come.

Nurses display 162 pairs of white shoes at the Capitol to symbolize their colleagues killed by COVID-19

A nurses’ union placed 164 sets of white shoes outside the US Capitol on Tuesday in a tribute to their colleagues killed by coronavirus, calling on the Senate to pass a huge aid package meant to help fight the pandemic.

Two months ago “my colleagues and I stood in front of the White House surrounded by 88 pairs of shoes,
each representing a nurse who had died from COVID.”
“Today we have 164 pairs of shoes.

They clearly show how this administration and this Congress has failed nurses who continue to die,
said Simms, from the over 150,000-strong National Nurses United (NNU), which organized the display at the Capitol.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives passed the $3 trillion Heroes Act in mid-May.

However, the Republican-controlled Senate has blocked the measure, promising a new proposal.

The House bill would provide financial aid to households struggling during the coronavirus pandemic, help rescue the US economy and finance production of protective equipment for frontline workers.

The United States has recorded more than 141,000 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic amid some 3.86 million cases.

Kim Jong Un has achieved peace on Earth, according to Kim Jong Un.
In a bold speech reported by the country’s state media, the North Korean leader said he believes no more wars will be fought on this planet due to his collection of nuclear warheads.

“With our reliable and effective self-defensive nuclear deterrent, there will be no more war on this earth, and our country’s safety and future will be secured forever,”
Kim reportedly said in his speech marking the 67th anniversary of the armistice that effectively ended the Korean War.

In comments that appear to be aimed at President Trump and the United States, the North Korean leader went on to say that his weapons will allow the country to defend itself against
“high pressure and military threats of imperialists and hostile forces.”

Mick Jagger and Michael Stipe sign letter demanding campaign song consent

Several top musicians, including Mick Jagger and Sheryl Crow, have signed a letter demanding that politicians get their consent before playing their songs at campaign rallies.

The soundtrack to political events was a hot topic during the 2016 election and is again this year, with several stars objecting to President Donald Trump playing their songs without permission.

Michael Stipe of REM, Regina Spektor and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler were among others to put their name on the letter, which was written in partnership with the Artist Rights Alliance, Rolling Stone magazine reported.

“No artist should be forced to compromise their values or be associated with politicians they don’t respect or support,” the Artist Rights Alliance tweeted on Tuesday.

“To defend free speech and political expression, we’re calling on campaigns to get permission before using music at political events,” it added.

Last month, British rock legends the Rolling Stones threatened legal action against Trump for his use of their classic “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at campaign rallies.

The same month, the family of rock musician Tom Petty issued a cease and desist letter over Trump’s use of “I Won’t Back Down” at a rally in Tulsa on June 20.

Queen complained when Trump walked on stage to their anthem “We Are The Champions” during a Republican Party event in Cleveland, Ohio in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Aerosmith, Adele, Neil Young and the estate of singer Prince all have also hit out after Trump used their songs.

Other signatories of the letter revealed Tuesday include Lionel Ritchie, Elvis Costello, and bands Blondie, Green Day and Pearl Jam, Rolling Stone said.

Alan Dershowitznamed in damning new Epstein documents

Trump-defending attorney Alan Dershowitz on Friday posted a defensive tweet hours after he was named in newly unsealed documents pertaining to the late alleged child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the documents, victim Virginia Giuffre alleged that Epstein required her to “have sexual relations with Dershowitz on numerous occasions while she was a minor,” while also alleging Dershowitz
“was an eye-witness to the sexual abuse of many other minors by Epstein and several of Epstein’s co-conspirators.”

Additionally, Giuffre claimed that Dershowitz worked on a plea deal for Epstein to avoid getting implicated himself as a co-conspirator in the late billionaire’s crimes.

Reacting to this, Dershowitz claimed that he actually wanted these documents to come out because they helped prove his innocence.

“I demanded release of all documents because they contain emails and manuscripts proving in Guiffre’s own words that she never met me,” Dershowitz wrote. “I knew they would repeat her false accusations against me, Al and Tipper Gore and others, which her own lawyers admit are ‘wrong.'”

Many of Dershowitz’s Twitter followers were not buying his spin, however, and mocked him as “Captain Underpants” in his replies, a reference to his past claims that he kept his underwear on when he received a massage from a young woman at one of Epstein’s properties.
