ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Deputies arrested a Florida man after he allegedly hit his mother in the head with a corn cob, according to WFLA.

Cody Cummins, 27, allegedly pelted his mother with a corn cob around 2 a.m. Sunday. Deputies said the cob hit the woman on the top of the head, but she was not seriously injured.

WFLA reported Cummins left the scene but was later arrested.

Records show he faces a charge of domestic battery and is being held on a $150 bond.

LARGO, Fla. – A Florida woman is facing charges after deputies say she hid several syringes inside her vagina, according to WFLA.

The arrest report says 35-year-old Jaymie Wescott was reportedly snarling and yelling at staff, refusing to leave the Burger King bathroom.

Wescott allowed deputies to search her but reportedly pulled away when they searched her groin area. That’s where they allegedly “felt something hard,” WFLA reported.

Deputies brought Wescott to jail where she reportedly removed seven syringes from her vagina. The arrest report said the syringes contained a clear substance but did not specify what the substance was.

Wescott now faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing or possessing contraband in a county detention facility and resisting an officer without violence.

On the lengthy list of things you do not want to find in your toilet, this may rank at the top.

Florida police said a 52-year-old Coral Springs man had gone to the bathroom early Sunday morning and, when he lifted the toilet seat, a four-foot snake “rose up and bit him,” the Sun Sentinel reported.

The newspaper reported the bite was on the man's arm.

Chris Swinson, a police spokesman, said the town’s humane unit responded to the scene and removed the snake – later identified as a ball python. After being taken to a veterinarian office, the snake was treated for a scale infection.

“It’s everybody’s worst nightmare,” Swinson told Coral Springs Talk. “But it’s in an apartment plumbing system, so there are many possibilities.”

The nonvenomous snake did not belong to the man who was bitten, and it’s unclear how it got into the toilet, Swinson told the Sun Sentinel.

He said it could have belonged to a previous resident or found its way into the apartment building’s plumbing...somehow.

The man bitten was treated at his apartment.

Bryan Berkley, 30 of Cape Coral faces charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief, according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

A Collier County man was arrested Tuesday, accused of breaking into several private properties, telling authorities he did so to escape pursuing alligators, according to a report by WFTX, a Fox affiliated news station serving Fort Myers and Naples.

Bryan Berkley, 30 of Cape Coral faces charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief, according to Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call about a man breaking into a residence Tuesday evening, WFTX reported.

The homeowner told authorities the suspect broke into the home and stole a container of ice from the refrigerator, WFTX said.

Deputies found Berkley breaking into a work truck in the driveway, causing hundreds of dollars in damage, WFTX reported.

Berkley told deputies he broke into the house because he was trying to get away from alligators that were chasing him and that he needed a glass of water, WFTX reported

The WFTX article did not report any sight of alligators in the immediate area.

Day care worker arrested after video shows her abusing toddlers, police say

A Florida day care worker has been arrested after surveillance video showed her tossing children around, according to police.

Katherine Weitz, 65, was arrested on felony child abuse charges after a manager at Dream City Academy in central Florida discovered the disturbing video, police said.

An officer with the Ormond Beach Police Department, located about 60 miles northeast of Orlando, detailed the footage in an interview with ABC affiliate WFTV on Wednesday.

He said some of the abuse occurred while the young victims were napping.

"There was shaking (and) a couple of kids being smacked during nap time," said Keith Walker of the Ormond Beach Police Department. "Some of the kids, she palmed the back of their heads with her hands and pushed them face forward in their cots."

One video released by the department appeared to show a woman hitting a child in the face.

"We found over 30 incidents that could be considered child abuse to at least four different children," he added.

The incident came to light when a Dream City Academy office manager started to have suspicions about how the children were being treated. They said they heard heard the toddlers crying and checked the surveillance footage, which brought the incident to light, according to WFTV.

Dream City Academy did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.

The suspect was hired as a full-time employee with the day care just days before the alleged abuse took place, sources told WFTV. Police said she passed a background check.

Weitz was released on $30,000 bond as of late Wednesday evening. She is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, court records show.

James Feuerstein, the Orlando-based attorney listed as representing her, did not immediately respond to ABC News' email request for comment.

File this one under bungled burglaries.

Authorities in Florida say two wannabe bank robbers tried to use a blowtorch to break into an ATM but instead ended up melting the hinges of the machine, welding it shut.

Officials with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office say video surveillance shows two male suspects entering The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island last week in the early morning hours of Friday.

One man, who appeared to be a lookout, was armed with a crowbar, while the other took the blowtorch to the ATM.

With the safe sealed shut, the pair left with nothing.

The two unidentified men are still wanted by Okaloosa police, who are calling the case the “bungled blowtorch burglary.”

Florida man who suspected girlfriend of cheating pours ketchup on her while she slept, gets arrested

A man from Florida was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly poured tomato ketchup on his sleeping girlfriend because he thought she was having an affair, according to reports.

The 37-year-old man, identified as Peter Wagman from Pinellas Park, was charged with domestic battery for pouring a large quantity of ketchup on his 41-year-old girlfriend after the couple had "been in arguments over infidelity by the victim," the arrest affidavit stated.

Reports state that Wagman and the victim, who has not been identified, were in a relationship for nearly 11 years before the incident. The victim, at around 4.45 a.m. local time on Sunday, June 2, "woke up to ketchup being poured on her by the defendant as the defendant was yelling 'that's what you get, b---h,'" according to police.

When authorities arrived at the scene of the incident, they found the victim covered in ketchup. The booking officer at the scene confirmed that Wagman had ketchup on the "right side of his pants" after the incident. He was eventually arrested over an hour later at 6.05 am and was released on Monday, June 3. Wagman was ordered not to contact his girlfriend, according to The Smoking Gun. Investigators involved in the case reportedly do not believe that mental health, drugs or alcohol had any part to play in the Florida case.

Wagman and his girlfriend, according to the outlet, have been previously arrested for acting out violently against each other. However, battery charges on them were eventually dropped. Wagman's girlfriend, in April this year, was arrested again after she allegedly hit him during an argument at their house. Officers noted that during their dispute that both Wagman and his girlfriend took turns carving their names into the bed, according to reports.

PALMETTO, Fla. – A Florida woman who stabbed herself multiple times in the abdomen said she did so because of President Donald Trump, KTTV reported.

Responding officers said the woman was found standing outside her apartment Sunday; she lifted her shirt to show them three stab wounds.

“I’m tired of living in Trump’s country. I’m tired of Trump being president,” she reportedly told the police.

The report said the woman cited those reasons for her self-inflicted harm.

KTTV reported the unidentified woman had a history of hurting herself.

FLORIDA - Fabrico Tueros Jimenez, 20,  was arrested on drug charges when police noticed traces of white powder on his nose.

Jimenez was stopped at a routine traffic stop in Florida when the police saw the traces on his nose, which later tested positive for cocaine.

According to the Sheriff's Department, after the arrest Jimenez told the deputies it wasn't his cocaine.

After searching the vehicle, deputies found 250 grams of marijuana and 13 Xanax pills Jimenez carried on him as well as a small bag of powder cocaine.

Jimenez was arrested for drug charges. The driver of the vehicle is unknown.

You just can’t make these Florida crimes up. What is the latest one? Turns out a man is being accused of slapping his girlfriend with a cheeseburger! While she was sleeping, because well, he wanted to wake her up with the smell of food, I guess.

Martin County Sheriff’s Office posted the man’s mugshot on Facebook, stating 30-year-old Kyle Jamison Jones “wanted it his way,” but when things didn’t fold out like he wanted to, they quickly went south. And by south they totally meant jail.

According to deputies, after the Florida man slapped her with the burger, she immediately woke up. The girlfriend told authorities that despite her being awake, he continued to hit her with the yummy delicious burger, but then quickly became violent and pulled her hair and kicked her down the stairs. Obviously, she called 911, and when deputies arrived, they found the girlfriend covered in food particles. Which must have been a very strange thing to see, but then again, it’s Florida.

Jones has been charged with battery, and will probably not go to Burger King anytime soon or get back together with his girlfriend. The 30-year-old going on 20 reportedly only admitted to verbal dispute, refusing to say anything about becoming physical with the woman.

I say you keep this man in jail for a good month to give him a scare. Slapping someone with a burger can totally be physical. Did we forget about that husband who slapped his wife with a Taco Bell burrito and also got arrrested? Plus, he did physically assault his girlfriend by pushing her down the stairs. He also pulled her hair, so he had every reason to get arrested. That’s not cool.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida man thought he snagged a deal when he paid $9,100 in an online auction for what he thought was a villa. What he got was a 1-foot-by-100-foot (0.3-meter-by-30-meter) strip of land.

The land, valued at only $50, starts on a curb and goes under a wall separating two villas in the Spring Lake community and then out to the back of the lot.

An official tells the South Florida Sun Sentinel there’s not a lot Kerville Holness can do about his purchase.

Holness says he was deceived. He says property appraiser photos linked to the auction site shows a villa being on the parcel he made a bid on.

But the newspaper says the appraiser’s site and information on the county’s tax site show no building value.

Man's alleged reason for 'stealing 75 pool toys'

A man has been accused of breaking into several people’s homes, stealing their pool toys and using them to sexually gratify himself.

When 35-year-old Christopher Monnin was questioned about his motive, he allegedly told police he turned to inflatable pool toys for sex “instead of raping women”, Fox 32 reported.

The man was accused of fleecing several households in Florida’s Palm Bay area prior to his arrest, with police later finding 75 pool toys in his possession.

He was arrested after being seen behaving “suspiciously” on Thursday about 1.25am (local time), according to a police report.

When an officer confronted Monnin, who was riding a bike, he allegedly admitted to be carrying pool floats in his bag.

Officers at the Palm Bay Police Department charged him with burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief and petit theft.



The man claimed he was having sex with pool toys instead of 'raping women'


"In the past seven months, the city of Palm Bay has been plagued with burglaries in which the suspect cuts the screen or otherwise enters a victim's back pool deck area and steals only pool floats," a police report read.

The report stated Monnin told officers he sought sexual gratification from the blow-up toys to avoid urges to rape women.

Florida man sentenced to 15 years for dismembering father

A Florida man was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Friday for dismembering his father's dead body, but was found not guilty of murder in the crime.

James "Jimmy" Scandirito, 50, of Boca Raton, was found guilty of "abuse of a dead body" after allegedly cutting up the corpse of his father, 74-year-old James "Skip" Scandirito.

The younger Scandirito was sentenced roughly a year after his father was found buried and dismembered underneath the Ocean Breeze Golf Club in Boca Raton. When handing out the sentence, Judge John Kastrenakes said Scandirito was unremorseful and tried to obstruct the investigation, according to the Palm Beach Post.

James had originally told police his dad went on a kayaking trip and never returned, but officers followed the younger Scandirito to the golf course in March of last year, where they uncovered Skip's upper and lower torso.

Police accused James of killing his father on March 28, 2018, putting his body parts in trash bags, sealing them with duct tape and burying them at the closed golf course.

During the trial, Scandirito said he found his father motionless in the living room on a pile of cocaine. Scared, he said he began cutting up the body and finding ways to dispose of it.

“It was one bad decision, and another bad decision, and a stupid decision, and a horrible decision,” Scandirito testified, according to the Palm Beach Post. “It just kept snowballing.”

Prosecutors said Scandirito hacked up his dad for inheritance money because he wasn't doing well financially. They asked for the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

“The only thing he has shown is that he wants to avoid responsibility for what he did,” Assistant State Attorney John Parnofiello told the court. “It is truly an atrocious thing that he’s done. It is an act that cries out for the maximum sentence.”

The defense team for Scandirito argued his need for drug-abuse treatment, not a prison term.

“He has never had treatment for the issues that have plagued is life,” Assistant Public Defender Elizabeth Ramsey said. “He is a man that can be reasoned with. He is a man who can learn. The appropriate sentence is to give him the opportunity to be rehabilitated.”

The Judge also handed Scandirito a $10,000 fine and a hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16 to determine if he's responsible for paying the cost of the investigation.

Defendant throws feces at Miami judge, gets acquitted on burglary charges

A defendant charged with burglary decided to play dirty during his criminal trial in a Miami-Dade courtroom on Friday.

Dorleans Philidor, 33, was reportedly sitting in a wheelchair next to Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Lisa Walsh, when court officials say he tried to throw his feces at her.

The excrement missed, but the Miami Herald reported Philidor yelling, "It's protein! It's good for you!"

During the incident, the bailiff yelled for Walsh to run as police and corrections officers ran into the courtroom.

Witnesses reportedly saw Philidor eat some of the bowel movement as well.

“It was intense. The corrections officers and police officers were swarming. Like 60 of them,” witness Allen Rios told the Miami Herald. “They told everyone to leave and you couldn’t go back in. It was a hazardous area.”

Once the incident concluded, the courtroom was closed for cleaning, and Walsh moved the closing arguments to another courthouse later on Friday morning, according to public relations director Eunice Sigler.

After they returned, the jurors found Philidor not guilty in the burglary crime, but he will stay behind bars because of a separate grand theft auto case. It's not clear what charges he will face for his fecal outburst.

A day earlier, Sigler said Philidor also defecated on himself and spread it over the walls and his body in a holding cell next to the courtroom. After officials took him away, half of the courthouse's second floor was closed. Thursday’s outburst prompted a doctor's evaluation, which determined he was well enough to be present at Friday's trial.

Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman Juan Diasgranados says Philidor will receive extra security to prevent these events from happening again.

LARGO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A manager for Dunkin' Donuts in Largo, Florida is charged with grand theft after deputies say she hired a fake employee so she could pocket the paychecks.

Markia Nelson, 29, was arrested on Monday. An arrested report lists Nelson as the manager of the Dunkin' Donuts on Ulmerton Road.

According to Pinellas Park police,  Nelson hired a "fictitious person" in May. Nelson reportedly clocked the fake employee in and out from May 16 through July 6. The arrest report states that the fake employee earned about $1,610 after 'working' 235 hours at $8.65 an hour.

Police say that Nelson had the paychecks put into her own bank account through direct deposit. Nelson reportedly admitted to authorities that she used the money for "life expenses."

Nelson was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on grand theft charges.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (KABC) -- A sight you don't see every day was caught on a security camera in Florida: A barefoot man in swimming trunks who appears to fall out of the sky and onto a parked car.

Employees of a car dealership in Fort Myers noticed a dented vehicle in the lot when they opened for business Monday.

They checked surveillance footage and saw the unidentified man falling from the building's roof onto the top of the car.

Amazingly, he gets up and walks off, seemingly without injury.

Florida man tied up wife's lover, cut off penis with scissors, deputies say

BELL, Fla. -- Authorities say a Florida man held his wife's lover at gunpoint and cut off the man's penis before fleeing with the flailing appendage.

News outlets report 49-year-old Alex Bonilla was arrested hours later on charges including aggravated assault.

The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office released a statement Tuesday that said Bonilla broke into his neighbor's home Sunday, tied the neighbor up and mutilated his genitals with scissors.

Deputies say the victim told authorities that Bonilla then took the severed penis and fled across the street to his own house.

Deputies say the motive still is under investigation, though an arrest report says Bonilla caught his wife and the victim having sex in May.

The victim was hospitalized.
