Never Forget Joe Biden Lied About Having 3 Degrees, He Also Graduated Near the Bottom of His Class By Johnathan Jones, The Western Journal Published August 19, 2020 at 5:50pm
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has spent much of the past year talking up his life’s accomplishments, but the veracity of some of his statements have been challenged.
Some have speculated that Biden is suffering from a decline in mental acuity, which if true could lead to him misremembering some facts about his nearly five-decade political career.
Perhaps Biden is simply playing politics at other times.
For example, a week ago, when President Donald Trump brokered a deal to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Biden attempted to take a slice of credit for the historic peace deal.
“The coming together of Israel and Arab states builds on the efforts of multiple administrations to foster a broader Arab-Israeli opening, including the efforts of the Obama-Biden administration to build on the Arab Peace Initiative,” Biden said of the deal.
You would expect such a curated statement about such a peace deal from a major party nominee such as Biden in August of an election year.
Of course, Biden’s statement was at the very least disingenuous.
Biden has had nothing to do with the Trump administration’s foreign policy successes, other than the fact that he was arguably involved in helping to contribute to an international geopolitical mess throughout his lackluster career — which Trump has focused on cleaning up.
But was Biden playing politics, or was he attempting to stretch the truth?
The latter theory would not be too far-fetched, considering the 77-year-old’s checkered history with honesty.
Biden has made so many gaffes, and uttered so many misstatements over the last year, that it’s easy to forget he was once known as a man who both embellished his résumé regarding his educational pedigree and also has a history of plagiarism.
For instance, in May, then-Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale shared archived video footage of Biden in 1987 describing his education credentials during his first run for the Democratic nomination for president.
“I went to law school on a full academic scholarship, the only one in my class to have a full academic scholarship,” Biden said.
“The first year in law school, I decided I didn’t want to be in law school and ended up in the bottom two-thirds of my class.”
Biden added, “And then decided I wanted to stay, went back to law school and, in fact, ended up in the top half of my class.”
Biden further claimed he “graduated with three degrees from undergraduate school” during his time at the Syracuse University College of Law.
“I’d be delighted to sit down and compare my IQ to yours if you’d like,” he said to a man in his presence named Frank.
The video posted by Parscale shows reporters correcting Biden’s statements about his education, none of which were true — which Biden later admitted.
In a September 1987 interview with The New York Times, Biden told the paper, “I did not graduate in the top half of my class at law school and my recollection of this was inaccurate.”
In a Newsweek article published in the same week, Biden was panned for his false statements, with the outlet describing him as appearing “hyper” and “glib” and also “intellectually insecure.”
Newsweek at the time also described Biden as “merely a lump of clay” who was malleable “in the hands” of the political consultant class, and noted he actually graduated from law school 76th in a class of 85 students.
The full video shared by C-SPAN on YouTube shows a signature Biden involving himself in a dustup with someone after being challenged about his record.
Biden also told Frank at the 1987 event, “I think I probably have a much higher IQ than you do, I suspect.”
The Media Research Center also put together and published a brilliant highlight reel of Biden being corrected by the media during his multiple 1987 scandals, including one that he was guilty of plagiarizing multiple politicos and historical figures throughout his time in law school and later during his time as a senator representing Delaware.
Biden, of course, never got close to clinching his party’s nomination in 1988 and never sniffed the nomination 20 years later.
In 2020, Biden finally has been crowned nominee; his relationship with the truth, however, is still questionable.

Joe Biden accused of plagiarizing from Jack Layton's final letter in nomination speech Social media was quick to point out that the words were eerily similar to ones found in a letter Layton wrote before he died in 2011 Author of the article: National Post {Canada} Publishing date: Aug 21, 2020 • Last Updated 8 hours ago • 2 minute read
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, a man not unaccustomed to allegations of plagiarism, is now being accused of copying the words of former New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton.
At a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, Biden’s final address included the lines, “For love is more powerful than hate. Hope is more powerful than fear. And light is more powerful than dark.”
Social media was quick to point out that the words were eerily similar to ones found in a letter Layton wrote before he died in 2011.
“My friends, love is better than anger,” said Layton in his letter. “Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair.”
Biden’s remarks were made two days before the ninth anniversary of Layton’s death.
Sophia Banks, a plant-based chef, tweeted that she was disappointed Biden copied Layton’s comments.
“Jack Layton is trending,” tweeted Banks. “One of Canada’s most beloved politicians. As Biden butchers his dying words left to us.”
'Change the world': Layton says in final letter
Sandy Hudson, an activist with Black Lives Matter, tweeted Biden’s speech reminded her of Layton.
“So very very Jack Layton,” tweeted Hudson.
However, the sentiments Layton made also channel lines from a speech former prime minister Wilfrid Laurier gave in 1916.
“Let me tell you that for the solution of these problems you have a safe guide, an unfailing light if you remember that faith is better than doubt and love is better than hate,” said Laurier.
Laurier’s speech was meant to promote unity among Canadians during World War I and build connections between English and French-Canadians.
Biden has been accused of plagiarism in the past. Most famously, he plagiarized a speech in 1987 from former British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock.
Kinnock’s speech said, “Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Why is Glenys (his wife) the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick?”
Biden’s speech said, “I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright?”
The incident is believed to have harmed Biden’s chance at becoming the Democratic nominee for president in 1988.
In the past Biden has called himself a gaffe machine. He said in 2007 that then-Illinois Senator Barack Obama was “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
He also had to revise a comment he made in 2007 when he said he was shot at in the Green Zone during a trip to Iraq.
His 2020 presidential campaign has already been filled with missteps. He confused New Hampshire with Vermont during a campaign stop in 2019. He said in February that he was a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate when he was running for president.

Joe Biden @JoeBiden
Aug 23 President Obama and I established a White House office to prepare our nation for future pandemics. Donald Trump eliminated it — and we've been paying the price every single day.

Over 100 former Romney and McCain campaign staffers endorse Joe Biden
Dozens of staffers who worked for the presidential campaigns of Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) have come out in favor of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
The New York Times reports that more than 100 former McCain staffers endorsed Biden on Thursday, headlined by longtime McCain speechwriter Mark Salter.
“We have different views of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party platform — most of us will disagree with a fair amount of it — but we all agree that getting Donald Trump out of office is clearly in the national interest,” Salter tells the Times.
Meanwhile, Politico reports that 34 staffers from Romney’s 2012 presidential run have endorsed Biden, led by former Romney Florida campaign field director Micah Spangler.
“We know him to be a good man and honest man, and a reliable executive, legislator and policymaker,” Spangler said. “This is a time in our country where we desperately need someone like that. We need an adult in the room.”
Mike Sistak, Romney’s 2012 Michigan field director, tells Politico that his hope is that Trump goes down in “overwhelming defeat” so that the GOP is forced to reform.
